Dec 20, 2024Avoid this place at all costs!
I would give this hotel zero stars if I could. Our experience was an absolute nightmare. The first room had roaches, and the second room had dirty floors, urine still in the toilet, and a filthy toilet. The AC vent was falling down, the AC didn’t work, and there was an awful smell throughout the room. The third room we were moved to had dirty sheets. To make matters worse, the staff didn’t offer any sincere apology, upgrade, or refund. It’s unbelievable that a place would offer such poor conditions, especially during the holiday season. We spent a significant amount of money expecting a relaxing vacation with the family, but this was nothing short of a disaster. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else!

Dec 20, 2024Terrible Housekeeping and Dirty Room
We checked in today. The resort itself seems nice, the taco truck, the activities, the restaurants seem fine for now. We are, however, having major issues with the quality of our room and housekeeping service. To the point of this resort being a 2 star, at most. We are a family of 3 traveling with a teen, staying in a room with a king bed that is supposed to sleep 3-4. The couch in the room doesn’t fold out. It took us 6 hours, 4 calls to housekeeping, and 3 trips to the front desk to get a bed delivered to the room for our son. When it was delivered, we came back from dinner to find that housekeeping just put a single sheet on the mattress, and a thin throw blanket over it. No real blanket, no second sheet to line the nasty throw. We are now back at front desk, asking for this to be remedied. The duvet on our king bed is ripped in multiple places and there is a small blood stain on the sheet. The room is dirty — there are layers of dust in multiple places, like the headboard, the black out shades are off their hindges on one side hanging down. There are no toiletries that you would normally expect in a 5 star or even a 4 star hotel, like q-tips, cotton balls, shower cap, lotion. NOTHING. Our bathroom was stocked with two booty covers (who needs that???), and a shaving kit only. There was no iron, we had to ask for an iron/steamer. There was only one robe, even though we are paying for 3 people. Finally, we had to ask for hangers as there were only 4 in the room. In addition, the bathroom has rusted finishes, the shower floor and walls have the dirties grout I have ever seen in a hotel. I am including pictures for all of this. For the price of almost 1k per day for 3 people this is all outrageous!

Second visit to Dreams Macao! Ahhhhhmazing experience over all. Rooms could be more spacious but clean, modern and well maintained. The food was one of the best in all our Punta Cana experiences. Entertainement was also on par. Would deffinitly go back and 100% recommend!

Highly recommend Dreams Macao Resort
We stayed at Dreams Macao Resort from 12/14-18/2024 and it was superb! We were traveling with my parents and our 2 sons, 19 and 21 y/o. The resort was not crowded because it's farther away from the main beaches of Punta Cana. This is the main surfing beach for the locals as well, so there are waves! The waves are bigger than we anticipated and though it was absolutely beautiful, I would not recommend it with small children who want to play in the water and waves. The waves come crashing down one after the other in rapid succession and the undercurrent pulls you back out. They were so strong that my 76 year old mom who loves to play in the waves could not stand up in them and opted to just watch from the beach. But if you want waves, this is the place! The pool areas are wonderful and perfect for any age! There are multiple areas for all ages. Lots of areas that are shallow for small kids and lots of areas for all other ages as well. The lazy river and waterpark area were lots of fun. The drinks and taco food truck at the waterpark area are wonderful were wonderful also! They offer different activities scheduled during the day to participate in or not. The resort layout is wonderful. It is not a huge footprint so places are not far away and that was perfect for my parents who are in their 70s. Because there were 6 of us, we decided to go for the preferred level and reap the benefits of being able to have reservations made for us for dinners each night at 7:00 so I can not speak to the ease of making reservations without that preferred level. At dinner time there could be a few people in lines at the specialty dinner spots, but not at every place each night. Ultimately, it appeared that you would be able to get into any spot you wanted for dinner each night. Food was wonderful everywhere we went. The buffet selection was a wonderful mix of premade options and cook to order meats or seafood. We ate at the dinner buffet 2 nights, the French restaurant (the duck was amazing) and the Teppanyaki (cook in front of you) for our dinners. All wonderful Food was my main worry point when choosing a resort and we were not disappointed at Dreams Macao! The Coco coffee shop was open 24 hours and had a wonderful selection of sweet and savory snacks and treats as well as beverages to get anytime day or night. We started here each morning for a coffee and treat then headed to watch the sunrise. Spectacular. We would highly recommend Dreams Macao for your Domincan Republic vacation.

Excellent vacation December 3-10/2024
We went the preferred club, swim out room with king bed. Everything was excellent, housekeeping staff kept the room very clean, the bed was comfortable and there was lots of closet space. The extra amenities were nice and appreciated. We also felt like we were not bombarded with people, ie: vacationers, as it was not in the prime time, so it was quiet and there was no waiting for anything. We went to the preferred lounge every night for an after dinner drink and we thoroughly enjoyed the premium drinks. Even though we had a swim out room we stayed most of the mornings and early afternoons at the preferred, adult pool. The preferred pool was fantastic as was the 2 a la carts we went to for dinner, the French and the Mexican. All the food, at the buffet and a la carts was very good and the grounds were very well kept. In other reviews, people wondered, without wearing bands how did the staff know who was preferred and who was not. We found, every relevant place we were at we were asked for our room number and the staff also get to know you, so they know if you are preferred or not. We stayed seven days and I can say this was probably the best resort we stayed at in all our many, many years of traveling. I guess the time of year also had something to do with that. We used the water slide, as a senior, OMG, it’s fast, but fun, then the relaxing lazy river was enjoyed. Special shout out to Jesus “Jay”, Rossy “Rosy”and Rosangela at the preferred pool, our butler Francisco, and the room housekeeper, sorry, I forget her name, but all were fantastic and made our vacation special and memorable. The preferred club, for us, was definitely worth it. Already looking at booking again and going back, preferred club of course. If I had to pick a con, it would be the double sink in the bathroom that left virtually no counter space to put anything else on.
