It was good
The hotel was very nice, I just feel like some of the staff were not very nice. Even though tipping is optional, when we did tip it was as if it wasn’t enough. A big shout out to Wester, our alcohol waiter by our swim out pool. He was amazing and was always hustling and making his rounds with zero errors. He took care of us and we made sure to take care of him as well. He was amazing and worked very hard!

Great Service, Meh Food
Hey everyone! I just had a week-long stay at this resort and I’m here to share my thoughts and some tips with you. I traveled with my wife and our 12-year-old son. One of the best things we did was take a private transfer from the airport to the resort. I highly recommend it - you don’t want to waste time stopping along the way to drop off others at other resorts. We got a swim-up junior suite with the preferred room. The preferred room is really nice - you get a 24/7 butler who can take care of everything for you. Service: A+ I can’t say enough about the service we received. Albert was an exceptional butler who was always checking in and making sure we were comfortable. If there was anything wrong with the room, they were our go-to people. Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and helpful. Cleanliness: A The resort was pretty clean to me. I didn’t have much to complain about in terms of cleanliness. Room: B+ The room was decent. Like I mentioned earlier, we booked a junior suite with a swim-up. I would definitely recommend getting DampRid to get rid of any excess moisture in the room. Our bathroom did smell like mold occasionally, especially after cleaning, but overall, it was a good room and spacious. Food: C- The food was okay. The carnival buffet had the same food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Honestly, I’m from Los Angeles, CA, so it’s hard for me not to be a bit harsh on the food. Most of the buffet food was bland and lacked flavor. Bluewater Grill: The steakhouse was our favorite spot there. We went twice because it was the best thing there. I highly recommend getting the ribeye steak and skirt steak. The burger grill on the beach was the second best thing there. The burgers, fries, and fruit were fresh, and we got that every day for lunch. Spice: The Asian restaurant was okay, nothing special as far as teppanyaki goes, but they do a good job of recreating that Japanese restaurant feel. Room service was okay, but it could be better. We didn’t get any ice cream, which was a bummer. The bummer about this resort is that you can’t bring any food to the room, and they make it a big deal when you try to take plates from the buffet anywhere. They complain about glass breaking everywhere, but guess what? The room service is just as bad - glass, wine cups, glass! It’s crazy that you can’t even take a plate of food anywhere! I saw a tip to bring zip-loc bags, and that’s exactly what I did. Now, let’s talk about the pool and water park. We were totally spoiled! We had a swim-up that was connected to the main pool, and the bar at the swim-up was amazing. You have to go see Carmelo for all your drinks! The infinity pool and preferred family pool were a bit small, but we didn’t get a chance to check out the adults-only preferred pool, but it looked like a blast. The lazy river was a blast! It’s a good size, and they provide tubes for fun, but you can always bring your own if you prefer. The water park had three open slides; I think one of them is permanently closed. The two black slides were super fast and intense! I ended up hitting my elbow at the bottom of the pool on both black slides. One last thing, my experience with the internet and WiFi was meh. I would lose and regain WiFi service walking through the room, the halls, and pretty much through the resort. It was extremely spotty and just was more a pain than anything for me. Overall, I had a B+ experience. I’m used to taking food anywhere, anytime, since I’ve been on cruises. If I had to pick my favorite thing, it’s the swim-up in our rooms’ back patio. It was just so relaxing and comfortable.

Loved Dreams Onyx!
Our family (2 adults and 4 teenagers) loved this resort! The beach was gorgeous, food was fantastic, service was great, and we’d definitely go again! There was always something to do and it was a true tropical paradise. Such a great time!!!!

We had the best time at Dreams Onyx!
We had an amazing time at Dreams Onyx! It was the nicest of all of the all inclusive resorts I have stayed at so far! There is so much to do and many different vibes in different parts of the resort from relaxed and quiet to exciting and fun. Our butler Hector was amazing, we upgrade to preferred and I felt that it was worth it! The preferred pools and lounges were a nice added touch and having Hector to guide us through our daily options was really helpful! Vida at the towel shack's smile and warm greeting made our day! We honestly never wanted to leave and are already trying to plan a return trip.

Great with food allergies
Our biggest concern when we travel with our family is our daughter has multiple serious food allergies and making sure we can get safe food for her. The food concierge Santo was excellent to work and they were able to make her whatever she wanted to eat. It made our vacation much more relaxing knowing that the resort had someone working with us and the restaurants to make safe food for her. Again, can't say enough about how helpful he was. Highly recommend going here for anyone with food allergy concerns.
