Exceeded my expectations
We travelled January 2025 for 8 nights. We knew going into this resort that it was an older property and the rooms would not be extravagant but everything else about this resort made up for it and then some. The service was exceptional. Check in and check out was quick and easy. We booked an oceanfront king room with balcony on the 8th floor which had an amazing view. We are beach people and the beach was incredible!, powdery white sand with calm turquoise water with very little seaweed and very shallow a long ways out ( great for young children). The location of this resort really guarantee’s a calm beach as the main ocean break is blocked. We took a walk 10 minutes right to discover large crashing waves and were happy to return to our tranquil paradise. The service on the beach was the best I’ve ever experienced all due to ALBERTO who was amazing! We also enjoyed that the al la cartes did not need reservations and I think the longest we waited was 20 minutes to be seated ( we were 2 people, maybe a larger group would wait longer) Overall the service was spectacular with shoutouts to Alberto (beach), Neos (breakfast), Erick (bar) and Erick (front desk) Also the location of this resort is in walking distance of the ferry to “isle majures” and the “Coco Bongo” area

Not bad for what we paid, but not likely to stay again
Overall, you’re paying for what you get. We didn’t hate our stay, but we will likely never stay here again. It’s just an older resort that has parts that have been updated, food that is fine and accommodations that satisfy the minimum. I am begging you Dream Sands, get another hot tub and keep it open later. We stayed here 7 nights with a group of couples in their 30’s and 40’s. Most of their staff were so kind and thoughtful. Rooms: the new remodeled rooms are clean, spacious and with comfortable beds. They have a hair dryer, scale, safe, long mirror, table/chairs and tv. The walls are thin. We could hear a lot from other guests which at times was awkward. The older rooms are not in as great of shape. They have peeling paint, rusting shower heads, dirty walls…basically the humid climate has done serious wear and tear. The beds were still comfortable though. Restaurants: World Cafe is fantastic for breakfast with almost every food type you can imagine. An omelet station, crepe station, Mexican food, fruit, salads, pastries, pancakes, toast, oatmeal, smoothie bar, cheeses, you name it! The problem though is that it lacks high quality foods and variety for lunch and dinner. By day 3 of our 8 day stay, we were fatigued by their lunch and dinner food options. There are not very many places to eat for lunch. They have room service, the Olio beach side cafe and World Cafe. For an entire resort, it was minimal. The other restaurants were decent and only open for dinner. Some better than others and the service was up and down. Specifically, the Mexican restaurant was delicious and most importantly had the most amazing vanilla soufflé. We went there twice just to have the chance to have dessert. The Asian restaurant was good, but the sushi was mostly rice and hard to swallow. The Italian restaurant had bad service the night we went and the steakhouse was yummy. Their steak quality was not great, but everything else was really good. The snack cafe was pretty lame with the same handful of things all the time. Being there 7 days was rough on food variety. But it was nice that they had so many dinner options. Beach and pool: the beach was perfect. It was protected from a lot of the wind we were experiencing, and the waves weren’t too big. It was beautiful water and plenty of chairs to rest in. The pools were fine. The main pool has a lot of tiles falling off. The main issue we had was that they only have ONE HOT TUB for the entire resort. It could hold about a dozen people, was lukewarm at times and closes at 8pm. With hundreds of rooms, thousands of guests, why only one hot tub and why close at 8pm?? It was very frustrating specifically because our stay had cooler weather. Location: it was nice that we were about a 10-15 minute walk to all the shopping and restaurants. Lots to see and do. Beware of the VIP services where they try to get you into a timeshare presentation. And finally, they have the weirdest dress code rules. Understandably, you can’t go into any restaurant in swim clothes, but then they explained that men can’t wear sleeveless shirts while women can. Until we fully understood the rules, they would refuse one of our friends every time because he had shirts that were cutoff style at the shoulders (not like a tank top, just sleeveless), but then they allowed women in tank tops and even a few that were wearing swimsuits with sheer swim skirt covers. It was honestly holding a double standard and little sexist.

Russell, Angelina and Constance are the best bartinders ever! Super nice and happy good vibe guy. He took care of my boyfriend every morning we were there! All the staff is friendly, nice and helpful. Enjoy your stay at Dream Sands Resort!!!

Over priced for the experience and food is terrible.
We were extremely disappointed with our trip and this was one of the worst vacations we have ever taken. I have no clue why this resort gets the praise that it gets. The resort is extremely misleading. The food is 3/10 and lacked flavor/originality. Buffet had little variety and the dishes in the restaurant were below average. My husband got food poisoning from what he thinks were the birria tacos. He vomited all night and we asked for someone to come get the trash can we placed outside the door. Nobody ever came. Housekeeping lazily made the beds, sheets never smelled clean, and the renovated rooms were poorly “renovated”. The ONLY positive about this resort was the beach area. Water was beautiful and calm. I will never recommend this resort to anyone because of the price we paid for a barely two star experience.

Great experience at this resort.
We spent a week there and had a fabulous experience. The weather was not great at this time though but that was due to a cold front coming in and not the resorts fault. Even though it is an older resort, it has been updated and you really would not know it was older at all. It is a smaller resort, which is nice. Food was fabulous. Best we had at a resort. Service was awesome and the whole experience was top notch. Entertainment was great as well.
