Nice resort with good amenities for a 3 star hotel.

Lovely staff, good restaurant onsite, with both a pool and beachfront. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Compared to other “3 star” resorts it was good value for money. Only drawback was close proximity to cruise port and all that brings including many day pass visitors and the ships.

Loved seeing our El cid family again!

Just returned from our annual trip- what a lovely one it was! My family are El Cid Platinum members and because my mother (of 86 years young) cannot travel anymore- we were able to go for 5 weeks of relaxation! We were first greeted by the bellmen Armando and Antonio who took care of our bags while we checked in. Along with Ari we would always be greeted with smiles jokes and laughs throughout the stay. Jonathon our butler made sure our fridge was stocked and immediately remedied the problem with our safe (my fault). He also works in restaurant as well. We were also checked on by another butler (Fernanda- very attentive). A special thanks to Francesco who helped us get our special room for all 5 weeks. Rodibel our maid was wonderful at meeting our needs and cleaning our room at the requested times we asked him. This hotel is right on the ocean- people can scuba or snorkel right in front of hotel with beautiful views of the sea life. The lifeguard Eric will always have your back. The hotel also has gear to use for outdoor activities. The activities director Rodger has such enthusiasm with all the things that guests can do! You’ll never get bored. The restaurant has all sorts of food that people will love and all the food is cooked with precision. Our favourite nights are Mexican night with traditional Yucatan foods and BBQ night with a special Valentines BBQ- with special desserts such as covered strawberries with a choice of dark or white chocolate! Our favorite meal here is the sirloin , salmon or the prime rib. Check out all the soups especially the Sopa Xochil! What makes this smaller yet cozy resort is all the staff including the waiters that we encountered: Noemi, Juan, Oscar, David, Ruby, Edgar, Becky, Maria , German and Julieta (one of the captains). Cozumel is a relaxing island - we have been here many times and enjoy the scuba diving atmosphere, the sense of safety and the genuine friendly people that live and work here. You will not be disappointed. We will be booking for next year shortly!

    Wonderful place to stay

While we did have an issue with noise for the first few days, we were finally able to change rooms to a quieter section of the property. The rooms are very spacious and clean. We enjoyed having the option of 2 beach areas as well as a pool. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

    Rest & Reset

Overall it was a great experience. Enjoyed the hospitality, service, and views. Downtown was a 10 minute drive and enjoyed experiencing local cuisines and drinks. Also the resort is a 5 minute walk from another cruise terminal port. Easy to walk and navigate. Great time for relaxation. Roger, the activities director, gave us the hookup with coupons and prizes, let us know about each activity on our 7 day stay and made sure we were entertained.

    A nice get away

This was a fun trip. We did an all inclusive package at El Cid. The service was great. Food and drinks were served promptly. Housekeeping was good. Bell service good. Room was fine, although I agree with those who said that the rooms were damp. Beach was good, pool was adequate. Breakfast and lunch were very good, and Mexican buffet dinners were great. The buffet dinners that weren’t Mexican were ok. The excursion company they use is not good. Poorly managed, old equipment, etc. I will use a different tour company next time. Liked the location. I would stay there again. I recommend this place for a medium priced vacation.
