The good, the bad and the ugly
We were in a suite of the adult’s only buildings (#12 / #13). Room was spacious, bed a bit hard, shower leaked, sewage smell if the fan and air condition are not turned on, had to fix the air condition that stopped working, on some days power outages were frequent and wi-fi was very inconsistent, from good signal to none for hours. Elevator also stopped working, had to carry luggage to the 4th floor. Adult only pool is almost impossible, very few beach chairs there, always taken from early morning. A waste of money. Medium sized resort, everything is close, too close. Be prepared to be blasted by loud music / animation. If you are looking for a peaceful quiet vacation, go elsewhere. The only quiet spot is the beach, but occasionally there is music there also. If it rains, there is little or no shelter. The beach is nice, brown sugar sand, wavy ocean, ample beach chairs in the shade. Snack-bar on the beach. Little or no service on the beach. Main pool is medium sized and most of the time is marred by loud repetitive music. Not enough beach chairs / shade at this pool. Food is good, you get everything but in a party of eight people seven of us got sick, and one really sick. If you choose this resort, make sure you have medical insurance, imodium, dulcolax, tylenols and naproxen. You have been warned. We tried all the à-la-carte restaurants. I personally enjoyed all three, especially the Mexican soup in the Mexican restaurant. House wine at the resort is awful, had to resort to buying premium wine. Casino was always empty. Blackjack is 10 USD, S17, peek, 7 decks, increments are 5$ (no 1$ chips). Did not play with these conditions. Night time entertainment is mostly outside and very loud. The resort appeared to be popular with Canadians. The place is clean and the service is usually good.

First Timers to DR and Emotions
Being our first trip to the Dominican Republic, and with Emotions, we tried to not compare with Mexican and Jamaican resorts we have experienced. This resort is the smallest we have stayed at, yet it wasn't lacking for anything that larger resorts have. We spent our time at the beach. If there activities going on throughout the day, we had no idea (we saw the schedule every day) as no staff come around to get participants, as other resorts do. The buffet foods were excellent, in my opinion. I am not particularly fussy, however I do expect flavourful dishes and I was not disappointed. The desserts, other than ice cream and the cookie varieties, are the only items I can count on for flavour - anywhere. I have yet to find a buffet's dessert offerings to be incredible, unless there is flambé station in action. We were VIPs, which was a nice surprise. I expect that was because of using RCI. Our apartment (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) was very spacious, and comfortable in all respects. The pillows were divine! Staff are lovely people; ready to answer questions and share simply being happy.

Terrible experience
I honestly doing know how this place got such high reviews. I have s leak in my roof, the towels look very old. There is no lightning in the room except for a couple of bedside lamps. The room looks like it's missing furniture. This is a 2 1/2 hotel at best because it's close to the beach. The food is so so as well. Stat away from this place.

Excellent stay at Emotions!
Fantastic time at this resort! No complaints here. Loved that it was only a 15-20 min bus ride from the airport. Smaller resort which we like, made walking around to get somewhere easy. Room could use a little bit of updating like paint/trim but other than that it was clean and had the best bed/pillows!! We got a swim-out room and it was awesome, well worth the upgrade. Food and Ala Carte restaurants were great, drinks were good. Cafe was super - great coffee and iced coffee with caramel or chocolate. Staff were all friendly and check-in was no problem at all. We had hot water all week with no interruption unlike some reviews saying they didn't. I wouldn't hesitate coming back to this resort :)
