A Stone's Throw from Milano Centrale
I booked the Excelsior Hotel Gallia as part of the AmEx Fine Hotels and Resorts programs, and I felt as though it was a great value. Most of my time in Milan was spent at the Park Hyatt, but I stayed at the Excelsior for one night because it was extremely convenient to the train station. I flew into MXP from another EU country, took the high speed train to Milano Centrale, and walked just a few steps across the street to the Excelsior. Later that evening, I took a high speed train to Verona for a few hours to enjoy the Verona Christmas Market, so the location could not have been more perfect for me. All of the staff I encountered were extremely helpful and accommodating. The room I was upgraded to was huge, which surprised me for a big European city hotel. The room was extremely well-appointed with a big comfortable bed. I was even pleasantly surprised with turndown service when I returned from my quick trip to Verona. I would absolutely stay here again if I needed convenient access to Milano Centrale.

Paranormal / Haunted Experience with Outstanding Breakfast + European Service
I rarely write reviews but had to do so given the experiences I faced during the hotel stay. As a Marriot Ambassador past 3+ years in a row (with over 430 nights stayed), I have never experienced anything paranormal. But this hotel stay was a different story. I stayed at one of the rooms on one of the 6th floor. Nothing out of the ordinary until it hit around early morning, where the room lights turned on intermittently by itself (at random) and in the dark you could hear footsteps / shuffles around the bed. I'm a fairly scientific person but after a few hours early 6:30am in the morning, I decided to ask for a room change due to the above experience. When asked, the front desk reaction seemed like this has happened before and quickly gave me a room change to a different floor. I never had an issue from then onwards. Thank you to the service team for making the transition as seamless as possible. But regardless, I debated posting this review as this seems like this has been swept under the rug and I would recommend everyone to double check their room floor and also room type when making the hotel reservation! Service wise, I think from a European standard, the service is absolutely outstanding and breakfast is filling with high quality ingredients. Would recommend coming back again given the room is not haunted. For hotel team / owner of this property reading this, I would recommend hiring an extortionist or a priest to resolve this issue on the 6th floor!

A superior hotel
This is clearly a superior hotel. Rooms are impeccable and include all one would expect in an upper-tier Marriott hotel. Service is excellent. The breakfast buffet includes a wide variety of delicious options and, also, a friendly and efficient staff. The hotel is located next to the main train station and, consequently, only a short train ride from the Malpensa Airport and just over three hours to Rome by fast trains.

Arrogant staff made this nice hotel unbearable
Absolutely terrible charged rather than pre authorised our card, rude and arrogant staff at check in, doorman yelled at us to use another door on departure one day, huge tour group meant breakfast was not available and 45 euros for 2 spritz in the bar

Poor Housekeeping
The housekeeping service is slow and understaffed. After leaving at 8:30 AM and pushing the button labeled “make up room”, I came back at 1 PM and my room was untouched. I telephoned Housekeeping they assured me someone would be right up. Two hours later, the room still wasn’t done. For a five star luxury hotel this is not acceptable.
