A presto

Love this hotel and love the location

We had a one night stay here; my wife, teenage daughter and I. I booked a standard room on points and requested an upgrade to a suite using one of the Marriott upgrade certs I get as a Titanium member. That upgrade cleared at the five day window. I added a rollaway bed for 90 euro / night. This is our third or fourth stay at this hotel and it is one of our favorites. The location is great for taking the train and the hotel is gorgeous. It was rainy when we were there but they provided three umbrellas. We had lunch at the terrace bar (burgers, sandwiches and salads) and dinner at the bar on the main floor (small plates meatballs, pasta and a steak). All of the food and service was very good. We had the buffet for breakfast in the morning, which was also great. I really, really like this hotel.

    Hotel breakfast

I'll tell you straight away, they didn't live in the hotel, they were accidental! And since one of our friends is very picky about food, we decided to go there for breakfast, and we were right! We were kindly welcomed, specified which breakfast option will suit us, as options are possible: a la card or a buffet. The latter includes serving porridge or omelet on hot, you can order different versions of the performance. Our fussy friend chose a la carde version, made pancakes, craps. I should mention the excellent service. The Swedish line meets the 5-star level by all standards, great pastries and desserts, lots of vegetables, cheeses, natural yogurt. Breakfast is 45 euros Swedish. But it was worth it! We enjoyed breakfast and service and decided that we would always go there when visiting Milan.

An ancient book with a nice cover but no content for poor service and the arrogance of managers

I am a regular Marriot customer with about 300 nights spent in Marriott hotels in 2004, such as to be awarded the title of Ambassador in the Bonvoy program, I chose to try the Gaul for having been in the past the usual hotel of the well-known journalist Maurizio Costanzo. The hotel first showed its elegance for the staff who packed and for the complimentary upgrade to the signature suite, a very nice and bright room with a comfortable balcony with a view. Unfortunately it was just a cover because the service was not up to what one expects from a Luxury collection. When booking through Bonvoy on January 16th at 6:49pm I had asked to have goose down pillows and two toothbrush kits and two razor kits in the room. After checking in at 22:20, I enter the room and the pillows were foam and there were no required kits, no welcome back message from the hotel and no amenities. I try to sleep with foam pillows but it was impossible because my pillows had caused a severe headache and consequent nausea. I call at 5:00 to solicit goose down pillows but the hotel does not have any, I ask for cookies to take a headache medicine and after 20 minutes of waiting the cookies arrive. Too late the night was lost. I go to the reception to solicit the pillows and communicate that if they are not available I would buy them at La Rinascente. No one apologizes for the inconvenience but they promise to procure them later today. No one offers any compensation for the lost night's sleep. Trusting in the seriousness of the hotel in keeping its word, I leave and after an excellent breakfast and spend the whole day downtown. I book a table for two for the evening to taste the starred menu of the Leban brothers. Unfortunately on my return to the hotel I found some wonderful feather pillows, two gianduiotti as amenities, the pajamas folded very well and placed on a bench at the foot of the bed, but the nightmare was not over yet and I certainly would not sleep another night ..... for the smell of sewer bathroom for the cold temperature of the room for the failure of the new air conditioning system. The technicians who responded were unable to clear the stench or trained to solve the air conditioning problem. But the next day the kind and caring staff of breakfast make you forget the sleepless second night and the flu came for the cold.... Once again the hotel does not apologize and like a war machine continues to ask for the credit card as a guarantee to the night already spent and already paid with points when it would also be right not to ask for payment for two sleepless nights.... Incredibly the front desk manager, in front of his entire team threatens to call the police and asks for the intervention of the manager on duty on that day, who easily realizes that the intemperance of the front desk manager was not justified having me settle the bill despite having insisted on my need to receive compensation for two nights of hell. The last day before check out the front desk manager without apologizing in person makes me deliver a bottle of Ferrari sparkling wine to my room as if my offended dignity could be compensated by a bottle of sparkling wine. Bad taste not trying to apologize at least with a bottle of vintage Dom Perignon 2013
