    Tired resort-missed opportunity to shine

Food choices and staff seemed tired....needing a total overhaul, nothing outstanding...comfortable beds and a quiet jungle view....staff in the sister resort Fiesta much more friendly and helpful...meals at the beach and beach service very nice

    Fun activities and comfy resort.

You can be a sit around the pool person or an activity person and get a lot out of this all inclusive stay. Our guides, Armando, Jaciel, Julio, and Adrian, and others were very friendly and helpful. Don’t bother renting a car- you can a taxi or rent a short-term rental to go where you need. But you might not want to leave. Food was good.

    Great time at The Explorean

Explorean Cozumel Review Summary: Highly recommend the Fiesta Americana Explorean Cozumel, a sister property to Fiesta Americana Cozumel. The Explorean gives you dedicated activities (snorkeling trip, bike trip, boat trip, dune buggy trip), your own private restaurant (B/L/D), 3 FA specialty restaurants, and a buffet, grill, and cevicheria. Staff were all super friendly, the specialty restaurants were very good, and the buffet/grill/cevicheria all had quick food options. Our trip was through RCI in January 2025 and required purchasing the All-Inclusive for $121 per person for 7 days ($1694 total). The pools have ALL been remodeled/redone and the rooms were clean and spotless. We had a minor issue with inconsistent hot water in the shower during our stay but we did not want to change rooms, but will request a room-change in the future. Details: Arrived at Cozumel Airport (CZM). The airport is small, they bring stairs to the tarmac and you descend and walk outside to the indoor Customs area. No cellphones are allowed until you clear Customs. Process took about 15-20 minutes despite getting the dreaded Red Light (LOL) for secondary screening. Re-screening required us to put our luggage on a table and open them up…no big deal and nothing was removed. The Explorean has its own entrance and check-in area. Got our welcome drink, room keys, and paid for the AI. Rooms are in 14 individual buildings with 2 rooms up a short set of stairs and 2 rooms below. Our room was spotless and the AC was great. Great balcony facing the jungle for relaxation. No mosquitos for us this trip. Each morning around 7:45am a covered basket is dropped off outside your room with coffee, OJ, and some banana muffins which is a nice start to the day. The room has a small refrigerator with chips, beer, water, and soda which were replenished each day. I left a note (and $5) letting the maid know what I wanted replaced and usually got several extras of each. We also learned from prior trips to bring our own box of Mini-Moo creamers as cream usually comes as evaporated-milk in Mexico. At check-in you receive a list of assigned excursions/activities that you have available for each day (Dune Buggy, Beach Adventure, Snorkeling, etc). Just show up if desired or do your own thing if you want. Excursions start anywhere from 9:30 – 11:00. The food at Explorean restaurant was very food. There is also a dedicated bar too. Waiters were eager to ensure you were pleased. Food at the FA specialty restaurants was excellent, and we usually booked a reservation 2-days in advance through the Explorean concierge. Dress is comfortable and casual. We enjoyed the FA buffet for walk-up meals and cevicheria for fresh seafood. FA also has “themed” dinner nights which are held in a large courtyard if weather permits. Since our weather was often rainy they moved the dinner to an inside lobby, but ask your concierge the schedule or you would miss it if staying strictly on the Explorean grounds. Personnel of note that made our trip outstanding: Fermin and Manuel at the Explorean restaurant; Alejandra, Yasuri, and Adora at the FA Buffet, Antonio at the FA Mexican restaurant. Overall, our trip was great and we will return. January weather only provided 3 days of sun and 4 days of intermittent cloud/rain, but we were able to explore, snorkel, and just relax. Tips: *Shared airport transportation can be procured at the airport exit from CozuShuttle for $13pp. You can return via taxi for $20-$25. *The room thermostat has a very bright display. We used 2 post-it notes to dim it down at night. *Dune Buggy island excursion is only offered on Sunday due to cruise demand during the week. Arrive Saturday if that is important to you. *Bring Mini-Moo creamers if you are cream snobs 😊 *If you leave the table inside the buffet, cover your plate with a napkin or you wind up feeding the local birds flying inside.

    Great day on the water!

Armando and Jassiel were fantastic and made the whole experience very comfortable. They spotted all the different wildlife for us and made sure that everyone felt confident in the water. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone wanting to try this experience!
