Honeymoon from Heaven
My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon at the Explorean Cozumel. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Our unit was situated on the back of the property, which was quiet and secluded. Each of our meals was delicious at all of the restaurants on the property. We loved being able to sit by the ocean and relax or join in the daily excursion that was included in our visit. Our guides Edgar, Armando, and Jaciel were fantastic! Everyone we crossed paths with from the cleaners to the waitstaff were phenomenal and super friendly. Many previous reviews were critical of the tiled pool but they just finished renovating it and everything now has a smooth surface.

Explorean 2024
Enjoyed the excursions missed some excursions due to weather and iron man events but had an alternative activity .Staff were accomodating and friendly . Some of staff felt cold or not friendly but maybe due to that maybe they dont speak english that well. Food not so great comparing to fiesta americana cancun . Mexican cusine was good but italian and asian i say like 40 % percent of it was good . Need to improve food variety. Drinks were good. Washing machine was available at the fiesta americana property which was a plus

As long as you know, you can go!
We as a couple. One of us likes to sit by the pool and the other is very go go go. It was a perfect balance. Excursions are all included with no pressure to attend that day. You don’t need to be super fit to go on any of the excursions either. Towels will be provided at places you need them. Drinks and food too. We didn’t find the food that great except at the Asian restaurant. Breakfast at the explorean was pretty good. Some had a hard time understanding us or didn’t know what a drink we were asking for was. Almost everything is outside. Restaurants have the choice usually of inside or outside but there typically is no relief from the humidity. As of November: many walk ways and all the pools were under construction. Wish we were told that before booking. Or notified after. Pros: - beach - easy to find a spot on beach including free cabanas - assessable by ramp and elevator - wifi everywhere - exclusive restaurant - ability to eat at fiesta and use amenities - excursions are included - Asian restaurant in fiesta was amazing - great a/c in rooms Cons: - coffee - Italian restaurant - set menus at explorean hotel only - bugs found in room - entertainment - language barrier = food and drink barrier - humidity is so intense everything is wet all day

Don’t do it! Verify before you go!!
Friday, September 27, 2024 we arrived Cozumel, Mexico. As we approached our resort, The Explorean Cozumel, I immediately knew we were sold a lie. The overall presentation while approaching the property was less to be desired. Once we checked in, we were informed our rooms wouldn’t be ready until 3 pm, so we arrived around 1:45 pm. So, we met up with our group, had lunch at the restaurant across the street, and waited. Returning to the Explorean at 3:05 pm, we had to wait another 40 minutes before we were given a key to our rooms. Upon entering our rooms, I immediately noticed a free-standing, crooked, miniature refrigerator exposed to the details of the room, no television, foggy windows, an L-shaped curtain rod above the bathroom area, curtains to conceal the bathroom area, holes in the curtains, dirt on the walls, dirty ceiling fan, rusty table lamps and low water pressure in the sink and shower. While exploring the property, I noticed the advertised pool had been completely gutted and blocked off for reconstruction. The advertised beach was not a beach at all. There was no access to the Explorean property or the adjoining property to the beach. There is sand leading up to a cement wall, and beyond the cement wall is drop-off, proceeding with bulldozer rocks and then the ocean, however, there is no access to the ocean. How is it that the amenities that the hotel, Vacations Express, and the travel agent advertised aren't available or accurate? According to your site, Vacation's Express sends someone to verify the validity of each property. When was the last time someone verified this property and its "beach"? According to the dictionary: "Beach - noun - a strip of land covered with sand, pebbles, or small stones at the edge of a body of water, especially by the ocean" At this point, it appears as if Vacations Express is willing to say anything including lying, to make a buck. On Saturday, September 29, 2024, our group decided to participate in the Nexus excursion. Today’s excursion entailed tequila tastings, seal watching, and a lounge at a beach. Upon meeting the tour guide, he told our group the excursion was a quick 10-minute walk, hesitant we were, we agreed to the 10-minute walk. The “10-minute” walk turned into a 30-minute walk in 90-degree temperatures, a guest getting stung by a bee, a guest falling and breaking his thumb, along being stuck in a downpour of rain and wet undergarments and clothing. Instead of walking 30 minutes back in the heat, the group requested a taxi back to the resort. Unfortunately, the taxi had to make 2 trips to pick up the entire group up. According to Vacation Express, "assign hotel star ratings based on several factors, including our opinion regarding location, amenities, and facilities relative to the general standards of the destination, as well as feedback from customers and staff. These ratings may differ from other published ratings. Our hotel star ratings are not a representation or promise of any particular feature or amenity.” What’s interesting is, that The Explorean Cozumel recognizes itself as not a 5-star hotel as it displays the rating of Trip Advisor. How is it, that the Explorean promotes itself as a 4.5-star resort, which is generous, yet Vacation Express falsely advertises the property as a 5 Star Hotel? Is this how Vacation Express and its affiliates, travel agents, do business, by fabrication?…

Amazing Place
Location: Directly behind the Fiesta. Location is beautiful and so close to everything. Jungle feel. Bring bug spray! The grounds are amazing. Pool looks so pretty but tiles do need replaced. Food so good! One restaurant on grounds. The menu stays same for breakfast/dinner but changes for lunch. Gabriel great waiter! All good meals. You use an app and make reservations for Fiesta restaurants. We ate at all of them. Found some foods we liked and some not a fan. Also, there are special theme nights (Explorean did not tell us about these) There is a beach night with buffet. They had a Mayan show while you ate. We saw an Italian buffet once too. Liked the GRILL on beach. Room: We stayed in a King. Very spacious and so clean. View balcony of jungle. Safe and umbrella. Mini fridge had waters, (extras on the table too), sodas, beer, milky way and chips. Beds comfy, ceiling fan and air conditioning good. Provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soaps, lotion (all in dispenser form) and smelled very nice. If you have long hair bring intense conditionar/detangler! Enough towels provided. A basket is delivered daily with some fresh juice, coffee and banana bread muffins. Rain shower a bit light on pressure-had warm to hot water. Room always clean. Bring bug spray. Never needed water shoes Excursions: handed a paper with one daily excursion you can choose to take. We did them all. I want to share what I learned: You do NOT need to bring towels for any. They carry them for you. They also bring coolers to give you drinks. Bring $. We tried to exchange excursions and were told no because they were full. Sundays is the Buggie tour only. We missed it bc we arrived and departed on Sunday. Bike Coastal Tour - 8 K, they stop a few times to share info along the coast. Ours was at 11AM - 2PM. Too hot at that time. They gave drinks and pastries with jam at Costa Maya to swim. They will put your bike in the truck if you cannot make it! The El Cielo is a catamaran and three stop snorkeling/swim. Favorite. They give you the towels, snorkeling gear, drinks and small tuna sandwiches. Kayak tour - wear strapped shoes. Ulva Snorkeling-walk up road-the best! Recommend bring own snorkeling gear. Snorkeling very nice in front of Fiesta beachbed area. Loved those! Chukanaab was nice too. Punta Sur-nice but we had poor air in van/water and tun sandwiches. Save money and get transportation when get off plane at stands ($28 for 2). Taxi back $25
