Wonderful service and cordialuty underscored our visit in 2024- december.
In general the entire staff was incredible especially the pool staff at the beach and at the adult pool. I remember Angel and Bonifacio, specifically. Breakfast at La Laguna was an entirely personal experience extended by Roman, the chef and Alejandra the general manager. SPA masseuses, Kenya, Margarita and Lala and Luis the valet who attended my husband were soo professional and kind. Ivan the golf cart driver as well, highly attentive. All in all our Fairmont Mayacoba visit was memorable and I am thinking of bringing my entire family next time.

A great getaway
I just returned from a family vacation at this resort and we had a fantastic time! The property is huge but very well maintained. The staff are all very nice and eager to assist you. We had a leak in our bathroom sink and they sent someone up fairly quickly to repair it. The housekeeping staff came in daily to clean and at night for turn down - which was nicely done. The other reviews about the beach being far away are accurate but it is because the property is large and there are many pools and restaurants throughout. There are large golf cart type shuttles that run constantly (sometimes every 5 minutes) and you hop on and head to the beach. It is actually quite fun. There are several stops and you can go from your room to the lobby or various restaurants as well. It is a great system. The only reason I gave it 4 starts instead of 5 is because the one area they are lacking is in information. The concierge was very nice and did make reservations for us but we left from 2 separate concierges not knowing if or when we had our reservations because they never called back. We had to go to the lobby to follow up. We learned from one of the shuttle drivers in casual conversation that there was a little town (Puebla) on the Mayacoba property and there was never any written, posted or listed information about what was going on around the hotel or when various bars and restaurants were open. We only found out our last day that one of the beach restaurants were open for breakfast so we had a few unnecessary full breakfasts buffets. We also asked staff where to get a cup of coffee in the morning and we were told to go to the lobby. We later saw that right near our room there was a little coffee and pastry shop that we didn't know about until 3 days into our stay. There are fun bikes for use all over the property and so the 4 of us set out on the nature trail and were told to go in all sorts of different directions by various people. The signage was very poor until you are actually on the nature trail. All of this considered, we would definitely return, now armed with our own information. I want to recognize Brenda at reception who went above and beyond to help us with our transport back to the airport because it was booked with a very unethical company (BD Travel) and she not only called them and called us back but followed up on her off hours. The staff in the main lobby restaurant are delightful and Pamela was terrific. She was always a welcoming presence. We look forward to returning to this resort.

Mediocre at best
The Fairmont Mayakoba means well, it really does. The staff service is polite, even slightly over-solicitous. The grounds are vast, well-kept and beautiful, but be aware that the distance from the pools and the lobby to the beach is about a mile. There are a lot of activities, it seems great for the kids, the spa is attractive with many treatment options and the adult pool is an oasis if you can find it. But the raccoons on the property are overpopulated and aggressive and the food is mediocre. I was there on business, and wouldn’t spend my own money to go back unless both of these items were addressed.
