    10/10 We’ll be back!!

Had an incredible time at the Fairmont Mayakoba! We went with our 3 month old and the entire staff was more than accommodating. We had our team of dedicated concierge members Agustin and Vanessa who went above and beyond. We didn’t have a bassinet in the room and due to availability they went out an ensured that we had one immediately. In addition, they surprised us with Al Pastor tacos from one of our favorite restaurants in Playa Del Carmen. This was the highlight of the trip! The rooms were very clean and the room service team ensured that everything was spotless. Very impressed! Food and drinks were also great! We went with the all inclusive package which is definitely the way to go, especially if you are going to be drinking as the al carte way can get expensive. The entire trip was fantastic and we will certainly be returning!

Beautiful but we won't be coming back

The resort is beautiful and the service is top notch but I wouldn't recommend it. We loved being surrounded by nature: the he lagoo, the mangrove, the trees. The rooms are nice and roomy (nothing amazing but certainly comfortable and pleasant) and surrounded by lush greenery. Pools are also nice. Every person who work at the resort was super nice, professional, and helpful. We were very impressed with the service level and were told by the people we talked to that they liked working for the resort - which is important. Special thanks to Elmer, the amazing concierge who made our vacation so much better; Louis, from the beach, who gave us a great suggestion about the cenota and was generally great; and Mauricio, the sustainability coordinator, who showed us so many ways to enjoy the nature around us. So why we won't be coming back? The beach was a big disappointment. Someone thought it would be a good idea to place cement slabs (wave breakers?) in front the entire shoreline of Mayakoba. On top of that, the water between the concrete and the shore is filled with floating black rubber and plastic buoys (which likely have a purpose). So rather than clear beautiful ocean, the water are murky and full of sand. For a resort on the shores of the Caribbean Sea this is a deal-breaker for us. And then there's the issue of bang for bucks. Obviously the place is expensive and we knew it in advance. However, in many cases it felt like the pricing was so crazy that it can't be justified. Breakfast buffet, for example,is 45USD per person. You would expect something really really good for this price but this was just the regular spread, the kind you would find in any all-inclusive around. Same goes for any restaurant in the resort - the prices are very high and the food is not that great. I assume that for most people who stays in this resort the price is not an issue but for us it was. We were also disappointed that only on our forth day, we were exposed to all the nature that surrounds the resort and how to best enjoy it. It feels like this should have been communicated much more clearly.

Truly amazing experience (we will be signing up for their loyalty program to continue returning)

To start, we want to thank Jose at the beach bar who made sure we were always happy and content. Secondly, we’d like to thank Miguel, who provided an amazing lagoon tour on the boat. He was incredibly informative, and was able to point out many different birds, give background information, and show us the ecosystem and its diversity. Overall, this stay was amazing. I’ve stayed at rosewood mayakoba and honestly the grounds and the amenities and beach are on par, if not better at the Faimont. We never had to wait for a golf cart to take us around, the dining was great, and overall it was an incredible stay. Highly recommend. It is a large hotel, and while there were many people, no area was too crowded, service was very fast, and plenty of options for seating at the beach and any of its many pools. For the pools: there are three very large pools (one big one on the beach) but there ARE ALSO three small pools on the beach and this was truly amazing. Felt like we had them to ourselves. 10/10. They also upgraded during Covid and it shows. Amazing place, amazing people, and amazing grounds. We also would like to highlight the safety and security of the grounds. Never once was there an issue or concern.

Tropical paradise! Can’t wait to return

Imagine departing Cancun’s very busy airport and 40 minutes later entering a gated almost 600 acre jungle paradise with lagoons, rivers and powdery white beaches. This lush tropical setting welcomes you when you arrive at the luxurious Fairmont Mayakoba in Mexico. We spent a week at Fairmont Mayakoba in January. We have stayed at many resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean over the years and at Fairmont hotels around the world, including both in Hawaii. This resort is now one of our favourites. We can’t wait to return. Resort/room We stayed in a Beachfront Casita with 2 beds. The room was large with an incredible bathroom (both indoor and outdoor rain showers!). Beds were comfortable, AC worked well and we walked right out to the beach. Each morning we enjoyed watching the sunrise from our private deck. The room was fantastic, and felt like our own private home. We had a stocked mini bar with snacks, wine, various liquors. A kettle for tea. Lots of bottled water, restocked daily. We did bring our own water bottles and refilled them at the filling stations located at the golf cart stops. Only suggestion to the hotel would be to have more filling stations nearby the beach area or pool. It would save a lot of bottles. The resort is just gorgeous. Surrounded by canals and jungle, the beauty of it blew us away everyday. Golf carts take you around the resort. We never waited long for pickup. We spent most mornings at the beach then shifted to the adult pool in the afternoon. The adult pool is fabulous. It’s an infinity pool with a beautiful view of the canal. Comfortable chaises throughout the resort and service to your seat. Other than one day where the server at the adult pool ignored us all afternoon, we had great service both at the pool and the beach. The beach was great. Plenty of chaises with palapas for shade. Although there was some seaweed in the beach, which cannot be helped, most of it was cleaned up each morning by hard working staff. Water was clear and not too deep. Included in your fee is a boat tour of the resort. It was wonderful. We had an excellent guide, Eduardo Garcia. The tour takes you throughout Mayakoba so you can see the other resorts, view turtles, birds and other wildlife. Not to be missed! There are a couple shops at the hotel. Mostly clothing, jewelry. No snacks or drinks for purchase. Restaurants We had breakfast included in our rate (we did not do all inclusive). As we stayed at the beach we went to Brisas at the beach club every morning, where the a la carte breakfast was excellent. Fresh juices, pancakes, French toast, frittatas, avocado toast, chia pudding and so much more. Special shout out to Jose who welcomed us each morning Oasis and Alejandro for their friendly and attentive service. For lunch and dinner we enjoyed most of the restaurants. We made reservations on Open Table for some before we left then our butler took care of the rest. Fuego at the beach was beautiful and tasty. Bossano near the pool was delicious but our server Carlos made the night even better. He was friendly and fun, offering us tequilas to taste and other recommendations. Along with some laughs. We had an excellent seafood meal at Gaia. Free Prosecco and a tour of the fish and seafood to start things off was a nice touch. Saul, our server, was great. We ate at La Laguna on our last night, right on the canal. Turtles swam by our table! The Mexican food was delicious and our server Ian made for an even better experience. A couple days we had our lunch delivered to our chaise. Fish tacos, guacamole, burgers. There were a lot of options for us at the resort (we eat mostly vegetarian with some fish/ seafood). The staff was always accommodating and open to special requests. The wine and cocktails were tasty with lots of interesting options. A special shout out to our butlers, Joyce and Edgar. We used WhatsApp to stay in touch throughout the week. They were eager to make our stay more enjoyable and quickly responded to any questions or requests. Joyce personally escorted us to the lobby for checkout and ensured our transportation was arranged and our departure was smooth. Overall this was an amazing resort. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to return.

    Fantastic Staff and Stunning Resort

The staff at Fairmont Mayakoba were incredible. Our “butlers” Edgar and Joyce were incredibly accommodating. They were very quick to answer all of our questions on the first two days. We were travelling with small children and Edgar had prepared diapers, wipes, a crib and even supplied a diaper genie for our room. The cleaning & turn down service was fantastic. Vanessa was our room attendant and so lovely to us. Alejandro (I hope I remembered his name correctly, he has a brother living in Richmond Canada) was so friendly down at the beach Ki’Bar. I highly recommend the Korean BBQ experience. Tauro restaurant was delicious! Bassanos too! Breakfast at Brisas was top notch. It is not included in the all inclusive so keep that in mind. Keep in mind it’s a large resort so you have to use the golf cart service to get from end to end. We loved riding the bikes! We rented a bike trailer for the kids from a rental place and that made our whole trip!! Angel on the golf carts was hilarious. Shout out to him! Most especially though Edgar, you are amazing at your job and a wonderful person. When our flight was delayed you helped take away so much of the stress by helping coordinate later checkout , transportation etc. Thank you so much! Fairmont Mayakoba is stunning. Extremely family friendly and the food is amazing.
