Wonderful beach location and perfect sized hotel
We have just returned from a fantastic 1 week all inclusive stay at Margaritaville. We're a UK family of 4 and our two children are 6 and 9 years old. Firstly, the check in process was very quick and smooth which is what you want after almost a whole day of travelling! All the rooms are v close to the pool, bars and other amenities, and our room was a fair size. Would have appreciated bigger beds but it was fine. The beach is glorious and a 30 second walk from the room. Beautiful sand with a rocky patch at the end, great for searching out shells and crabs etc. Early in the morning it's almost empty but it never gets busy except on the weekends when there were more locals as it is a public beach. Food was great, perfect for us. Not a massive variety and I think we would have got bored if staying longer than a week, but there are restaurants very close by. Staff were friendly, attentive but not too intrusive. Pool area was fabulous and never a problem getting a free lounger. Our kids loved the pool and so did we. One recommendation would be that the floor around the outside of the pool could do with more regular cleaning but wasn't a big deal. All in all, a great hotel for families or couples. We did three trips out (Tamarindo sunset cruise, Buena vista adventure and sloth adventure), all great but would caution travel times are always longer than you think as Costa Rica traffic is pretty slow!

Amazing beach, awesome pool, rooms are OK, would recommend!
Beach is incredible, Pool Is awesome and the service was excellent. We spent so much time in the ocean and pool the kids made some core memories at sunset that we will never forget. We stayed 4 nights which I think was one too much, 3 nights is perfect to be able to try all the food and amenities and on the 4th it felt like the same day playing over again (still a great day). 4 out of 5 stars because our room smelled bad and was right by the back parking lot despite being quite a high cost for us. The towel situation is also super annoying and hard to get dry towels through the day. Finding shade at the pool is also a challenge and you need to get out at like 6 am to find a place to put your stuff. The pool could definitely use more shade options at least be aware of it. Overall it was a really great stay for our family but we wished for at least 1 or 2 Jimmy Buffet songs and the room left a lot to be desired. Props to the staff on their service and the beach is perfect!

Not a great hotel
Pros Good staff, especially Elias and Joy in the pool bar Clean Lovely wildlife Cons Food so bad and it’s the first holiday in my life where I came back thinner than I left! Two choices of cereal for breakfast ! Sometimes bananas other times nope. Full of Americans getting drunk at the weekends You have to set your alarm for 6am if you wish to get a sunbed with a shade which is not my idea of a relaxing holiday Nothing nearby to walk to so pretty much a sitting duck at the hotel if you have mobility issues Asked for a pool view and had a wonderful view of the car park as they were ‘full’ Girls on reception have no concept of English and so seem to shrug a lot No money exchange unless you go to a bank which is miles away No taxis or tuk tuks. My husband has walking difficulties so it would have been nice to know this in advance of this. If you want top shelf drinks you have to pay $11 for privilege so I drank awful, local gin or water Nothing happening in the evenings No robes or slippers in the rooms although these were advertised as being a available It took us 2.5 hours to get from the airport to the hotel.

If you like Burger and chips and loud pool this is for you
Positives and negatives about this hotel. The beach is absolutely amazing and the use of beach chairs from the security guys is first class. The food however is seriously limited and is aimed at the American burger client. There is really only two restaurants on site, the buffet often not available. The reception area is good but doesn’t have a bar so it is not used. Some food and drink is only available if you ask the canteen staff - ie cup of tea. Cappuccino, bacon, yoghurt -no idea why this is “hidden” Also no kettle in the room is a big negative

Great for larger families!
This place was great for our family of six! It was great to find a hotel where we could all stay comfortably in one room. My kids loved the bunk bed room and each having their own bed! We loved not hearing them yell about kicking each other when they have to share beds ;) The hotel was clean, everyone was nice, the food was plenty good and there were lots of restaurants within walking distance as well. We especially enjoyed being able to walk to the marina. The beach here is very beautiful as well. I guess what I mean to say is that the location is great and everything was wonderful. I highly recommend this resort, especially for larger families!
