Excelente Butlers Jose Cruz and Luiz!
We recently visited Generations and had our usual wonderful and pampered service from our butlers, Jose Cruz and Luiz. Jose was always so upbeat and was smiling no matter what. He would greet us via text each morning (since we like to sleep in!) and tell us our Bali bed was ready when we were. He was ready with his golf cart any time we needed a lift! He was cheerfully ready with any request we had, and followed through with everything. Luiz was wonderful as well. He helped us upon arrival to make preliminary dinner reservations and was always able to make last minute changes when we decided on alternate plans, no matter how impossible the request seemed. He helped to make sure we used our benefits to the fullest and was always ready to take us all over with the golf cart. We enjoyed conversing with both of our butlers and sharing our stories. We were amazed at the excellent English skills they both possessed. Thanks a million to you, Jose and Luiz!! Hope to see you again very soon!

Ask for Luiz and Israel
Best place hands down...Luiz and Israel went beyond to help us on anything. Someone in our large group had gotten an ear infection we askd about pharmacy at resort but they were closed. Luis and Israel left resort to find a local pharmacy for us. Like they went way beyond to help us. Best all around

Just okay for our family...
My family of 4 has been traveling down to the Rivera Maya for the past 10 years. Every year we have stayed at a different resort as we haven’t found the “perfect” one for us yet. This resort left us with mixed feelings that I’ve broken down below: Service – 5/5 What makes this resort not get a lower rate is the service. We had a personal concierge assistant during our stay, Israel E., who was amazing! He organized dinners, excursions, birthday decorations for my son and was always ready to answer any questions we had. He sole handedly made our stay fabulous! We also experienced good service at the restaurants and bar, never waiting long. Food/Drinks – 3/5 I consider myself a realist and don’t expect to have Michelin star dining at an all-inclusive. For the price point of this resort, I would say the food is just average. The breakfast buffet was always the same but inconsistent on quality. Sometimes the food was hot and sometimes it looked like it had been sitting out for a long time. Often times the stations (omelet, crepes, Mexican) didn’t have employees working so they were empty. Lunch and dinner were again just okay. Be prepared for long waits on room service. I would have liked to see more fresh fish and grilled options vs. fried food. Our favorite restaurant was Haab which was Indian. The drinks were also inconsistent. For example, I ordered a mojito at the pool bar 3 times and each time it was made different (once correctly, the second time just lemonade with rum and the third time it was margarita mix with rum). I ordered a Singapore Sling at the Sling bar and the bartender had no idea what that was even though the bar is named after it. Rooms – 3/5 We had a one bedroom ocean view. The room had an incredible view of the ocean, comfortable beds and we loved the sliding door that separated the living area from the bedroom to separate where the kids slept from us. That being said, the rooms need some major TLC. The dresser cabinets wouldn’t close and were ready to come off their hinges. The fridge wasn’t level and would shake anytime the motor turned on and the bathtub fixtures would literally fall off when we tried to turn them. The hotel sent a maintenance guy up and he just said, “be careful when you turn the knobs”. Pool/Beach – 2/5 I loved the Bali beds on the beach, however you will have a hard time swimming in the beach due to the concrete structures sticking out that many others have mentioned. The resort also needs to do a better job of cleaning the pool. First thing in the morning the pool is clear and clean. By midafternoon, the pool was murky with trash floating all around. It really grossed us out. I’ve been to a lot of different resorts and never seen this before. Kids activities – 2/5 We have a 9 and 10 year old that this review is based on. The reason this is not a 1/5 is because of the more inclusive option of going to the Nickelodeon waterpark. The kids absolutely love this park. The activity team also had daily activities by the pool which were all kid friendly. The kids club needs a complete revamp. One of the reasons we love all-inclusive resorts is that we can spend quality time as a family but also have the option to have date nights and/or time without the kids. 95% of the resorts we’ve visited, our kids love the kids club. They do tons of activities with the kids such as sand castle competitions on the beach, treasure hunts around the resort, pajama parties at night, etc. At this resort, the kids are stuck downstairs in a basement like room and don’t ever leave. The toys and play area downstairs are centered around small children like 5 and younger so when my kids went to the kids club, they ended up only playing video games (when it worked) and were extremely bored. This is the first time we’ve gone to Mexico that the kids did NOT want to go to the kids club. Overall for the price point we paid for this resort, it didn’t meet our expectations. For a similar price, we could have stayed at Paradisus or Moon Palace both of which surpass this resort.

We are never disappointed here!
This is our home away from home because of the people who work there. Beginning with management with Lucia, Berenice and Fabiola at the helm all the way to Rosa our housekeeper all were fantastic. We love all the butlers but were fortunate to have Luna and Diego as our main two, but with Ramon, Eddy, Israel and Ana stepping in as needed. The chefs are first class including Chef Sanjeev and Chef Julio. Service is impeccable with Ivan, Aimer, Fausto and Lourdes as being managers/ hosts. Outstanding servers included Juan Carlos, Eddie, Daniel, Elena, Roberto, Manuel, Guillermo, Alma and Angel. The entertainment team was great led by Xio but daily activities and exercise classes provided by Claudia, Paty and Emanuel. Bartenders kept us hydrated including Erbie, Joaquin and Victor, and guided by Martha. Rosa kept our room very clean. Bellboy service was friendly and efficient and included Julian, Enrique and Juan. We can’t wait to return in February.

Generations is where it is at!
All of the staff at Generations are amazing. They take the time to treat us like family every time we visit. From Check in with Wilma, to scheduling special activities with our Lomas rep Greg Preciado, to our butlers we are always taken care of like family. Our Butlers, Luiz and Jose are amazing and take such good care of us. They truly are family and we love returning to visit them several times a year. There is so much they do for us and all their guests but the most special is when we attend adult only events, they make sure our 15 year old daughter has fun and gets her own amazing experience. We also had the opportunity to attend a special event at Fuentes during this visit with special guest chefs and our butlers made it happen. I cannot say enough good things about our family at Generations.
