Love the Golden Parnassus!!
We just got back from our 7 night stay at the Golden Parnassus (3/18-3/25/25). We first stayed here in 1992 when it was the Playa de Oro. That was also our first trip to Cancun. We've been to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta over 30 times so we know the ins and outs of their resorts. The most important things to us are cleanliness, friendly, helpful staff, and good food. We weren't disappointed. We loved our week at the Golden Parnassus!! We reserved a Deluxe Ocean View Room. Unfortunately, the elevator wasn't working when we checked in, so Isaias at the front desk, upgraded us from the 5th floor to a Club room on the 3rd floor. It was amazing. The view from our terrace was breathtaking, the room was very spacious and spotless, and we had our own hot tub!! We had a safe for our passports and documents. It was digital so no key to drag around, which was great. (The elevator was fixed the next day.) Housekeeping was always thorough. Wherever we stay, we leave a daily tip for housekeeping because they work so hard. Several days we came back from our day at the pool and beach to an animal made from the towels. Also, the bellman (Sergio, I think) remembered it was our 50th wedding anniversary and brought us champagne on ice, champagne glasses and a fruit basket! Victoria from the Spa would walk around and treat guests with a free 5 minute back or neck massage. (if they wanted one) I received two of these massages. Trust me, they were wonderful and lasted more than 5 minutes. My husband and I had intended to book a couples massage for our anniversary, and this convinced us. Our couples massage was wonderful! We also reserved a private cabana with snacks on the beach for the day. Our server brought us drinks all day long and lunch when we were hungry. We felt like royalty! The bartenders at the poolside bar and beach bar were great! The beach bar had swings at the bar! Too fun! Say hello to Jose, Fonsy, Ricardo, Sebastian! Also, the women serving the pool area were great! I only caught Edith's name but all of them were awesome! The buffet was open for breakfast and lunch (say hi to Oscar for us). The specialty dinner restaurants had delicious food to choose from, and there was no need for reservations. Service and cleanliness was superb at all of the restaurants! We discussed how good our meals were every day. We are not night life people. But after spending every day in the pool or at the beach and drinking Palomas all day long, our evenings were low key. After dinner we either went to the Pool bar which stayed open late or we went to the lobby bar, which had comfortable chairs around small tables or couches. People watching is always fun. We would totally recommend this hotel! Cheryl & Ron Fritche

Not really a good resort in Cancun
The hotel is located by the beach, and offers all inclusive meals, drinks etc. And that's about it. The meals are varried, the rest is A LOT to be destired for. The building itself is old, and looks like dorms, the walls / corridors / public area are not attended to at all. The elevator did not work, and we had to climb to the 4th floor during our stay. The rooms are spacious but lacking any character and style. There are NO amenities in the room and they are really very very basic. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL, LET ALONE A RESORT. I would probably give it 3 stars.

Good!
Nice and clean hotel. But the staff are the best, super helpful and attentive. At the reception Isaias Gonzalez was excellent in serving us, always helping with a lot of attention and dedication. Very good food! Drinks prepared on time.

This hotel says it is a 4* however we would say it’s lucky to be a 3*
We were really disappointed by this hotel for a number of reasons which I have tried to summarise below: 1. The food - probably the biggest disappointment, the food was not up to scratch. Breakfast and lunch were a major disappointment with limited and repetitive options. There were a few restaurants which when we arrived we were excited about. The seafood/pasta was really nice, steakhouse wasn’t bad but the Asian (sumo) was one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to. We were made to share a portion of the starter if you ordered the same starter and the the food there was cold and very poor. Shangria was also very poor and for some reason made me swap my sliders for trainers - it wasn’t fancy enough to insist this at all. As an all inclusive you should be able to have as much food as you want but you were limited to a set menu at each restaurant 2. Upkeep/maintenance - as you can see from the photos, the place is very run down and needs refurbishment everywhere. Mould in a few areas spotted, lift didn’t work the whole time and it just looks and smells old. Sixties bar is also outdated and could be greatly improved with pool tables with no lean on them, new flooring and things such as dart boards to spruce it up 3. Entertainment - this was largely non-existent. There was a bingo game every day which was the same and sometimes you had to pay for! There was a “quiz” which was half-arsed and again the same every day (a film quiz on repeat) . Other than these two, karaoke and tequila volleyball, there was no other entertainment 4. The beach towel hut! We were told we would have a fresh beach towel for us daily but this was a disgrace - the staff were so unfriendly and we had 3 days where they didn’t have towels ready for us. They were also very tight on lending them and very anal about the towel card - one day someone by the pool fainted and they wouldn’t even spare a beach towel to use as a damp / cold compress to help them 5. Our room and supplies - we were disappointed when we checked into our room to not have shower gel, what I would say is a basic of a hotel, especially in a 4*. On check in we were upgraded to an ocean view suite from a lagoon suite. This was a nice surprise but in reality the room was average quality and pretty standard. On a separate note - worthwhile to say that this is our first time in Mexico and we are very unlikely to go back. Excursions are expensive for what they are and in general Mexico wasn’t as luxurious as we thought. For the money we paid, we could have got such a better experience in Europe. For completeness, would like to say there were a couple of good things about the hotel 1. The beach / ocean view - was stunning to be fair and the best part of the hotel 2. Service - at breakfast and lunchtimes, the staff do try to create a positive environment and are friendly and helpful
