Returning guest, slightly critical review
Returned from our 4th visit to the Grand Bavaro Princess. Maybe it's because we've been there before, and experience was better, possibly more critical this time because our expectations were still high from previous visits. Generally a great vacation, few issues. Wouldn't stop us from returning, but would prepare our responses to events. This is just an honest review of all we experienced during our stay. What every guest should know, this is a very family friendly resort! Everyone is having fun. If you are seeking an adults section, this is not your resort. Platinum suite was booked. We mentioned in advance we were returning guests, nothing special. Our neighbours had "Welcome Back" on their door, we got nothing. Maybe that comes on your 5th visit. Check in was great, fast and welcoming. Settled into our room quickly. Room was a reno'd one, third floor, very nice, clean, fully stocked and ready for us. No smell at all! We never received any turndown service, even though that was supposed to be part of our package, when inquired, I was told they no longer do that. Advertising oops I assume (?). We never knew until too late, we always had treats and tips for the turndown staff. Save lots of money without them coming. Platinum has it's perks, but I found several other color bracelets in Platinum only areas too. Wondering if this is the new way, or if the resort is fully blended now. Hard to tell. The noise from workers/trucks was intense! Starting around 6am to around 6pm. High traffic near the PBG and food trucks. So loud! Steady heard guests closer to the PBG complaining how they were woken up each day. Keep that in mind if you want close to the beach room, it comes with noise and lots of early activity. First issue was the trolley. We were located near the PBG. Almost every night we go to catch the trolley between 5-6pm to go to lobby area for our a la carte dinners, and every trolley was full! Why wouldn't they route the trolley's to go by the Platinum rooms FIRST, then pick up the beach/pool guests. Returning from the Lobby area wasn't bad, but again, dropped off bungalow then Platinum. Logically, Platinum then bungalow. Not enough trolleys for the people at that time. The one night we did find a trolley with room for us, it was soaked and sandy. Minor issue, but still issue when properly dressed for dinner. Although we don't mind walking sometimes, nearly every day it wasn't usable for us. Grand Bavaro - I would highly recommend to look at the trolley route and maybe running extra trolley's at that busy time, 5pm to 7pm. Next issue was the a la carte dress code. In this specific case, I am talking about Il Tartufo. This particular night, there were people there in gym shorts, tank tops, swim coverups and still wet, etc. What you expect to see at a beach buffet. I understood the etiquette was proper dress for everyone, men in long shorts, evening sandals, etc. These guests were still allowed in. In past visits, they would've been turned away until they were properly dressed for dinner. Same evening, very young children were running from one side to the other. Shame on the parents for allowing the kids to disrupt everyone else, and also trip a waiter. It is very sad that guests don't take enough pride in themselves to change into evening attire. Even more disappointing the Workers allowed everyone in, even when breaking policy. As well, there is NO policing when other guests cut lines, or push people out of the way to get to front of lines, whether a la carte or buffet. It's hard for them to always guide guests, but first in line, first served, jump to front of line...kick them to the back. We will all get served, relax and enjoy vacation! Again, not totally the resorts fault, a lot of guests were rude, I don't blame workers for not wanting to cause any confrontations. Overall food was good. Nothing to brag about. We enjoyed Focaccia and surprised by Hacienda. El Gaucho disgusted me. Once my favourite on the resort, not anymore! A steakhouse that charges for STEAK! I still can't believe it! We ordered "filet mignon", and it was NOT filet mignon. There wasn't any restaurant that included steak, it was so disappointing! We ordered and within minutes our food was served. Sure nice speedy service, but I have to believe the food was ALL premade, just waiting to be served to whoever ordered it. Watch when you get served with bread baskets, lol. I watch wait staff pick up bread from one table and bring to a different table, three different times, 2 different wait staff! Lord knows how many hands had touched those buns! They weren't baked fresh either, not like previous years. Coffee shop, Frapaccino, needs some organization. Wonderful choices, delish treats and coffee, when you sit down, you may or may not be served for awhile. Was always different whenever we went. Even tipping well, you never get same service. My most offended issue was exchanging money at reception. I wanted singles, we tip couple bucks per drink, and since we move around some days, we can't just drop a $10 or more and expect service. When asked for singles, they both said, "you should be tipping $5 at least" Seriously?! I am NOT tipping $5 a drink. $2-3 is sufficient in my opinion. I looked at them and they both laughed at me. It was awful! Grounds and beach are amazing! I would walk in awe of the beauty, except mangrove area smell. lol. Still beautiful throughout. The beach/water would not be suitable for young small kids. The waves can be strong. The PBG pool is nice. The main pool is definitely NOT maintained. To be polite, it felt dirty and wasn't clear, and that was first thing in the morning, before guests were in with their sunscreens, drinks, etc.. Some serious maintenance is required! I refused to go in it. All reviews I have seen with surface scum, etc. that is accurate! Nightlife is minimal. They cater to children, naturally. The adult shows don't start until 930. That was getting too late for us. I was so disappointed they moved the white beach party (only thing I really wanted to do) to the plaza. Now it was just a plaza white party for kids. Just so happened they had an event where the beach party normally is. C'est la vie. If you want a resort that is beautiful and huge, where you can just wander and enjoy, this is perfect. Private rooms and balconies. Beach and waves are so amazing! Long beach to walk, sandy swimming in the waves! If this will be your first visit to the resort, you will love it! If you are returning, you might be disappointed with some of the changes and service. It could just be the way today, but not everyone seemed to be as friendly as previous visits, less smiles from workers, less "hola".

Fastest 6 days ever
I visited in November on a solo trip. I was honestly tired and just in need of full rest and relaxation and I got it. I really have to say the staff, especially in the Platinum Section, were extra attentive when they realized you are single. You are made to feel at ease when you walk into dinner or breakfast and feel like you are seeing an old friend when greeted by Jose. The team in the Chopin, Angela, Ana Paola, Marino, Luisa, Jose, the Chef German at the pasta station, the tall chef at the meat and shrimp station, and the second chef at the pasta station, added great memories and culinary experiences to my stay. My highlights were the first night when the piano played on the boat came up, absolutely amazing; I loved lounging on the beach and waiting for 11 am when the special chef came out and did the special for the day. The drinks and eats were nice for the most part, and the tub in my room made prep for dinner each night feel like a dream. I lost my phone the day before departure, and the concierge went above and beyond to help me find it. I honestly cannot thank her enough. While I did have a good time, there are some things that could be improved, like the food at the fast food truck, the control panels for the AC in the room, and the televisions (from cable to smart TV). However, despite little hiccups here and there I honestly could not believe that the 6 days I spent there went so fast. It was that relaxing. Thank you for the great visit and great memories. R.C.

Grand Bavaro Princess.
Stayed at Grand Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana for a week in Dec 2024. Hotel was very clean. Beach was beautiful and clean. Food was great. Room was amazing and spacious. Service was ok (lots of room for improvement when it comes to service). Main pool is not in good shape. Looks dirty and missing lots of tiles on the walls. We did not enjoy the main pool. This is a huge resort so there is a lot of walking involved which we did not mind at all.

Fantastic experience !
This was a lovely resort to stay at! My fiancé and I had such a great time, with so much to do. 95% of the staff were super friendly !! Our villa was super close to the beach which we loved. The cuisine was good, so many options!! The resort is quite large but convenient that they had shuttles every so often driving around the resort that you could hop on to! We absolutely LOVED the cappuccino bar !!! Would definitely recommend this resort to others. The room was also beautiful!

OQP
we liked the hotel, despite the fact that the rooms clearly have problems with AC The service is good, they try, the food is good, but this is more of a family hotel. If you want fun, then you should go somewhere else. If you want to buy souvenirs and present then we highly recommend going to the OQP store on the Plaza front of the hotel, it's the first one on the left. There is an excellent salesperson and a wonderful person, Lily. She can give a lot of good advice, she speaks several languages. Hi, Lili, you're the best!!!
