So so - but a special location
This stay was a bit of a mixed bag. More of a 3.5. We used to come years ago and hadn’t been in a long time. Breakfast is no longer included. Dinner at the restaurant was good. The first day we spent on one beach and we had good service. The second day we spent on the other beach closer to town and had no service at all. It’s annoying that they keep the beach towels all the way up at reception and have no towel booth. They nickel and dime you a little bit for things like the “free” snorkel mouthpiece and a gym fee; despite a very healthy room fee. At $500 a night, we should be guaranteed a king bed. Our room had two doubles and was quite cramped. The little kitchen table had food crust on it, and the dresser top was also dirty. I asked housekeeping to clean it, but they didn’t. I eventually scrubbed it myself with a sponge. We did have an amazing ocean view and the room was quiet, despite having neighbors above us, below us, and on both sides. My sleep quality was poor due to the pillows and light pollution. They have glass above the front door and bathroom window. We had to try to get a towel hang up there. We couldn’t close the bathroom door because it was a broken slider that would roll back open. The actual beach cannot be beat nor can the location with the walk into town for dinner. We appreciated the in room coffee with the ability to purchase more pods.

Worth a second review
It is rare that I write a review the second time I stay at a resort but this resort is truly worthy. Last year in my review I said that the inflatable kayaks were terrible and they listened--new hard plastic ocean kayaks--amazing! We kayaked every day and even saw a turtle swimming past. The wine for purchase at the front desk is still a delightful bargain and the complimentary bottle in our room is such a nice touch. The beach and view from our oceanfront patio is simply superb so having a dining table on the patio was wonderful for our lobster lunches. Last but not least, the nicest, friendliest staff--maintenance, security, housekeeping, front desk all made us feel so welcome. Special thanks to Niki the concierge for helping us call Westjet when our flight home got cancelled and Christine at reservations for her kind words of sympathy while arranging a room that night.

A fine resort, I’ll be back!
The best way to describe this resort is it’s a throwback resort in a throwback small town. The town reminds me of Negril Jamaica or Playa Del Carmen 25 years ago and that’s a good thing but it’s not for everyone It’s raw and uncommercial but with great restaurants. The resort also has a sense of yesteryear but it is comfortable and inviting This is not the Ritz Carlton in Cancun but more like a fine B&B in Door County Wisconsin. We toured the entire island and decided we stayed at the best resort in the best town

Review of Grand Case from the week of January 17th
The resort is very nice. There are two beautiful beaches to spend your days. The beach is at a slant, so it seemed most people sat in the loungers up on the level areas above the beach and then just walked down to swim. The water was beautiful. There are some beautiful peaceful areas to sit and read. The bed was very comfortable. We walked into the town of Grand Case every night and enjoyed fantastic food! Spiga was our favorite, we went twice. Mostly ate at upscale French restaurants, but also enjoyed Lola’s for some ribs and barbecue! We ended up with a garden view room in the 800 building. There were no views, the first room we got was in the very back, room 808 and very dark. We move up four rooms to 804, but still no view. We tried to switch to anything better, but there wasn’t any other rooms available. We paid $4500 for the week. Other resorts we have been to at Turks and Caicos/Grenada and Aruba, we had much nicer rooms with some views. We had a great time in Saint Martin, just disappointed with the garden rooms in the 800 building!

Grand Case is GRAND!
Tucked away at the end of Grand Case is this charming hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Ours had a mini kitchens and all had a view of some sort. We were on the first floor and walked out to the beach with our coffee every morning. The pool was beautiful, and so was the view. There are little paths all around the property to explore and watch the spectacular sunset. Front desk staff was attentive and always ready to help.
