Our room is amazing, the view is incredible, it’s always clean and every time we need anything we get it within 5 mins. The drinks are great, came with a family of 5 and always something to do for every age, my 5 year old was fascinated with all the kids activities from the entertain team, would definitely stay again, always something to do for every age!

Great family trip for family of 6! Worth the money.

Detailed honest review from this mama of 4! Follow for more authentic reviews as we love to travel I recently stayed at Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta, and overall, it was a great experience. We payed about $1300 pp. The resort offers many fantastic features, but there are also a few things to consider depending on your preferences. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons from my stay: Pros: Family-Friendly: The resort is great for families, with a kids' club where you can drop off your children and pick them up later. Clean & Accessible: The hotel is very clean and compact, making everything easily accessible. It’s also wheelchair- and stroller-friendly. Food Variety & Allergy Awareness: There’s a wide variety of food options, and they provide detailed allergy information, making it easy for guests with dietary restrictions. Food Quality: The food quality was very good, with a lot of flavor and great variety each night. The food here is much better than what you would find in Cuba, making it a strong highlight of the resort. 24/7 Room Service: If you miss a meal, you can order from room service anytime, including late at night. Convenient Service: The staff handles luggage upon check-in, so you don’t have to worry about carrying your bags. Nightly Entertainment: There’s a different show every night, offering great entertainment options for guests. The nightly entertainment was very different each night and was very entertaining for both kids and adults. Generous Drink Sizes & Strong Cocktails: The drink sizes are large, and even if you bring your own cup, they fill it to the top, reducing the need for constant refills. The alcohol content in the drinks is strong, so you don’t have to worry about them being watered down. Variety of Activities: The resort offers activities for both adults and kids. For example, there are mezcal tastings for adults, and kids can enjoy activities like pizza-making and mask-making, so there’s always something fun to do during the day. Private Beach: The resort has a private beach, which is a great advantage as it ensures there aren't many people from other resorts in the area. This makes it a more exclusive and relaxing spot for guests of the Grand Park Royal. Water Activities: The resort offers a wide range of water activities, including banana boat rides ($20 US), jet skiing, and hair braiding ($30 for front braids). You can easily arrange any of these activities by speaking to the staff in white uniforms on the beach. Snacks & Treats: There are plenty of snacks available throughout the day, including pizza, chicharron, fries, burgers, and salads at the pool bar around lunchtime. There’s also a café on the main floor offering pastries, muffins, croissants, and ice cream (flavors like strawberry, coconut, and pistachio), making it a great treat for both kids and adults. Kids’ Pool Area: The resort offers a kids' pool area with water slides and a splash park, making it an ideal spot for young children. The area is shaded, which is great for protecting the kids from the sun, and it’s best to visit the area between 2–4 p.m., when the weather is warmer and the water is more comfortable. Cons: Limited Sun at the Pool: If you love all-day sun, this may not be the best resort. The pool area is shaded in the morning until about 2 PM, while the beach gets sun earlier (around 10–11 AM). If you want sun, it’s best to go to the beach first, then the pool later in the afternoon. Difficult to Get Pool Chairs: Finding a poolside chair is very challenging, even early in the morning. Despite rules against reserving chairs, many guests still do, making it inconvenient for others. Drinking Cups Hygiene: I noticed that the drinking cups are all hand-washed rather than being machine-washed or steamed. For me, this was a big con, and I would recommend bringing your own cup if this is a concern. Beach Vendors: There are many vendors on the beach selling things like oysters, necklaces, and banana boat rides. They will ask you a few times, and although a polite "no thank you" usually gets them to leave you alone, it can be annoying if they persist after you’ve already declined. High Waves on the Beach: Some days, the waves on the beach can be very high, making it unsafe to swim. We were able to enjoy the beach for the first four days, but by the fifth day, the waves were too big. This was a concern, especially with kids. If you're looking for calm beach vibes similar to those in Cuba, this might not be the ideal resort. However, if you're okay with the occasional high tide and don’t mind missing out on beach days, this could still be a suitable option. Cold Mornings & Evenings in March: The evenings and early mornings in March can be cold, so be sure to pack long pants and sweaters for both you and your kids. I didn’t pack enough warm clothes for my children and noticed they were quite cold. You’ll be more comfortable at the evening shows if you’re prepared with warmer clothing. Overall, Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta is a great choice for families and those looking for a clean, accessible resort with good food, entertainment, and generous drink service. However, if you prioritize poolside sun, easy access to lounge chairs, or strict hygiene standards for drinkware, you might want to consider these factors before booking. Additionally, if you want to visit when the pool and beach water are warm, consider traveling in July, August, or September. If visiting in March, expect the pool water to be cold, while the beach water remains manageable but not as warm as in the summer months.
