Never mind. Too late to change my mind now.
Still here in middle of a 2 week holiday from the UK. Wrong time of year to visit this place as we are spending the majority of time sitting by the pool, under umbrellas avoiding tropical rain, and thunder. This is not the fault of the hotel, I should have done my research before booking this trip, but illness interfered. Food, all inclusive, is extremely mediocre whether from buffet restaurants, or themed a-la-cart restaurants. It appears that if chopsticks are available you are sitting in a Japanese restaurant. However if the chopsticks are removed, and a black and white photo is stuck on a wall then now you are in an Italian restaurant etc. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel, but is more of a low 3 star in all aspects. I would not expect that coffee is unavailable all day in most areas unless one is prepared to walk a long way to obtain a coffee. Having said that, the coffee here is horrible, cheap, and undrinkable, tasting of the cheapest home brand supermarket brands in the UK. Carbonated drinks are available, but the sweetness becomes monotonous. Without turning to alcoholic drinks the best choice is water which is served cold, and refreshes. Next available is alcohol. Beer is readily available. Comes in cans, and only one brand is available, this being just acceptable. The alcoholic drinks, rum whisky vodka etc are cheap, and undrinkable unless disguised with carbonated drinks. Then we come to the so called cocktails. Disgusting cheap alcohol mixed with various flavored sugar waters . Not a freshly squeezed drop of juice in the vicinity of your glass. These are surely produced for children, or people who have no idea of how a cocktail should look or taste. The staff give mixed messages. They are either very pleasant, and welcoming, or a large percentage are straight faced, and look at you as if you are unwelcome. Our concierge initially was beaming with smiles, and, humorous and chatty. Because you are particularly especially nice people you will, as we were, be invited by your concierge to a special celebration breakfast, only as a special gift though because you are so special. Once we made it clear that we did not intend to attend the "special breakfast", our concierge has stopped talking to us unless we approach him with a question, he does not smile, and is clearly moody with us. This is because the special breakfast is in truth a chance to pull you to one side, and give you a hard sell for 3 hours for a time-share. You need to be prepared to travel to reach activities. Swimming with dolphins is a 2 hour travel for a 30 minute swim, then 2 hours return trip to this hotel. Entertainment is not at all entertaining. All in all this is not a pleasant experience, and we wish we had traveled to Jamaica where we found everything to be just so much more pleasant and professional. For the weather we should have traveled to the middle east where professionalism abounds, and the weather more appropriate for a family holiday.

A must go!
Absolutely amazing holiday! Lots of choices regarding food, nice, clean beach, great activities for all ages. Mayra looked after us when dining, she was a superstar! Would definitely come back to that place! 100% recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall a very nice place.
This place is overall really nice. It's not exactly perfect due to a few problems we had, but I would recommend going here during your stay. The hotel itself is lovely. It's got a huge pool and an amazing aqua park, especially if you like slides. There are a lot of shelters, which are good for the rain, and they decorate really nicely for certain occasions: we went near christmas and the decorations were honestly breathtaking. The staff aren't the friendliest, especially in the two buffet restaurants, they walk around serving you miserably. The food itself is ok, though, but some of the meat doesn't look cooked. The restaurants I would recommend, especially the French one. The people in the French restaurant completely bypass what I just said, as they actually seem happy and cheerful to serve you! The food's lovely too. The food's alright in the other restaurants, but the staff are still quite grumpy, unlike of course the French one. The other food bar is alright as well, there's just not much variety. And the food truck is a bit overrated. The entertainment in the evenings I would recommend, definitely go see it. There's a disco for the kids that often starts at 8:15, but after that the content varies. There's a circus, a Michael Jackson tribute, a play of Encanto and The Greatest Showman, and loads of other stuff like a magic show. The only downside is that they often start from half 9 onwards, which sometimes can be too late depending on how tired you are. The room service is brilliant. The rooms end up spotless and they restock your mini fridge right up to the top. However, during our stay we did have some miscommunication to do with floaties. In the hotel generally if a float is left outside someone's door it's considered them giving it away. On one day of our trip, we found a float and a buggee board outside someone's door, so we took them and left. The next day, we had staff knocking on our door because apparently those people 'weren't giving them away'. Next time, I'd like staff to specifically tell people that leaving stuff outside their door is an invitation for people to take them. It's honestly very irritating. However, it is a very nice place to stay, and if I came to Punta Cana again, I would stay here. Also, the coffee shop is absolutely delicious!!

Disappointed and Poor Customer Service
Pros- beach, room, housekeeping, ala carte food and beverage options for the most part. Ebenezer in Italian on Dec. 2 very good while Dec. 13 service OK except no dessert offered and one of two meals cold; Daniel at the beach bar always accommodating; Joanna and Maria in the Soana Buffet at breakfast always had a table ready; staff and food in El Rancho (steakhouse) were efficient and food excellent; Japanese and Route 66, Brazilian Dec. 11 at 18:30, French Dec. 12 at 18:00 all very good. Other times service was poor. Cons - customer service was very poor other than above for the most part (front desk, buffets, lounge bar, Mediterranean and Macao Buffet poor except for Anna). Very disappointed in our overall experience. Acknowledging guests with a smile instead of ignoring them or walking by). Provide staff appropriate training in dealing with people - most don’t appear to have the needed skill set. Organizing staff as many wandered about aimlessly instead of having specific areas of responsibility (bars and restaurants). Provide staff the resources needed to work in a large operation (eg. clean and adequate dishes and utensils - we ended up taking cutlery to the beach as the beach buffet didn’t have any; having adequate linens and towels for housekeeping as they didn’t always have facecloths or hand towels; On arrival requested a room closer to the lobby due to unlockable patio door. This was accommodated several hours later, after several phone calls to the front desk. We would suggest this be downgraded to a 3 star at most as we've stayed at other Sirenis properties along with numerous others in the Caribbean (Cuba, DR and Mexico). This property is more suited to families.

Great 2 weeks away.
Just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel. Please ignore all the negative reviews!! Yes, there are some minor problems, no it shouldn't ruin your holiday. Arrival - quick, easy, fast check in. Greated with a drink on arrival and our luggage was taken to our room for us. Room- we had a family suit, the sofa bed was all made already when we arrived, rooms were big enough for 3 of us, yes there was a very slight tinge to the room as you walked in, as we have experienced with any humid / hot country when we go on holiday! The room was clean, bathroom could have done to be updated and our shower wasn't the most powerful but was fine. Also our hairdryer only blowed out cold air, I did report this 3 times but I am unsure if either this is just the way the Hairdryer was or I wasn't understood. But other than that, plenty of wardrobe / storage space, beds comfy and our air-conditioning was fab in both parts of the rooms (2 x units). Grounds - beautiful! There was always someone cleaning the pathways, cutting grass and trimming the trees. We saw no seaweed and went to the beach everyday. The sea at times looked a bit choppy but my husband went in it and said it was lovely. Pools - we only used the shallow pools and the one which leads from the shallow pool. We didn't smell any offence smell even by the pool bar as some people say. Yes the pool bar pool does get busy however I think this is more before it's convient for families with younger children as the pool is ideal for standing. We saw the pool be cleaned every morning and staff were constantly going round picking up people's empty glasses. Restaurants - we went in all restaurants bar the Raw one as we don't like this type of food. We never had a bad meal, all food came out hot and cooked. Service wasn't the best in that some places took a little longer than expected BUT staff were lovely! We preferred the Italian and French restaurant. All these were easily booked with the concierge the day after we arrived. Drinks - you could say these were hit and miss, some stronger than others but I suppose it depends who pours it, again it's nothing really to write home about, at the end of the day, I wasn't paying for drinks i left if it wasn't upto my taste. Some bars were hit and miss at making mud slides which I love drinking on holiday but the lobby bar made a great one! We didn't have any problems with any drinks running out. Service - so I saw a lot of negative reviews about this which worried me before we went.... yes, this could be slightly better but I don't think it's the waiters/ waitress' faults. They are all rushing round trying to keep on top of things but I do think they are more than likely a little understaffed, working long hours and day and days on end before a day off! Give them a break! The one thing that was annoying was if you didn't get to breakfast for before 9am, you may struggle to get a plate or bowl for some time (which isn't good when your hungry) and the pool bar at dinner very rarely had cutlery, this was a bad issue and very annoying! 95% of the staff were polite and pleasant and would always try and help, we feel the ones that could come across a little rude, may have had a language barrier?!?! Activities - there was always something going on in the morning / day time for the children and adults on the beach and round the pool which we found good. We only realised there was a 2nd theatre (where all the shows etc take part) in the 2nd week so we missed a week of this 🤦🏼♀️ but this last week we thought the shows were great and staff really went out their way to put on a good show. We didn't go the kids club so cannot comment. The gym was reasonable and was able to do my usual workouts just with adjustments. They provide bottled water and towels 👍🏻 All in all we had a great 2 weeks and actually didn't want to come home. We do think this is more a 3+* - 4* hotel but with some minor changes could easily be increased.
