A Breathtaking Paradise – Grand Velas Mexico Exceeds Every Expectation
From the moment you arrive at Grand Velas Resort in Mexico, you are transported into a world of pure indulgence, luxury, and impeccable service. This resort is more than just a vacation destination—it’s an experience that redefines what all-inclusive should be. 1) Beyond Extraordinary Service The service at Grand Velas is nothing short of exceptional. From the friendly welcome upon arrival to the dedicated concierge ensuring every request is met, the staff goes above and beyond to make guests feel like royalty. Our personal concierge was Annie and she exceeded all expectations. She truly made us feel like family and made sure we had anything we needed to make our trip unforgettable. I want to give a big mention to Carlos from the teen lounge. We went at the end of January so there weren't any teens to be seen so we took advantage of the fun activities in the teen lounge (pool, foosball, ping pong). Particularly, Carlos set up Karaoke for our family of four and we sang three nights in a row until closing. He was such a kind, fun, and generous person and facilitated some unforgettable nights for us as a family. We will definitely be coming back to keep singing with Carlos! 2) Culinary Excellence at Its Finest Dining at Grand Velas is an absolute treat for the senses. With multiple gourmet restaurants, each featuring world-class chefs, and even a Michelin star restaurant, every meal is truly a culinary journey. The waiters enhanced these experiences, specifically Antonio from Azul, Jose and Juan from Cocina de Autor, and Edgar from Sen Lin. They clearly took pride in their job, their culture, and the food they were serving which made our meals so much more fun! 3) Luxury & Comfort The suites at Grand Velas are nothing short of spectacular. Spacious, elegantly designed, and boasting breathtaking ocean or lush garden views, each room is a private sanctuary. The plush beds, well-appointed furnishings, and oversized spa-like bathrooms create an ambiance of pure relaxation. The poolside service was unparalleled, especially compared to other resorts we have stayed at. In particular, we really appreciated Domingo and Gustavo during our poolside days. They were constantly checking in to make sure we were satisfied with our drinks and even made us little pillows with extra towels. I felt like a princess! If you’re searching for the ultimate luxury experience in Mexico, look no further. Grand Velas is more than a resort—it’s a dream come true. We will absolutely be coming back next year to visit!

Fantastic All Inclusive
Fantastic service, amazing food (rivals some nyc restaurants), couldn’t recommend the resort enough. Aaron, our personal concierge was incredible. The room and accommodations were lovely and the trip exceeded all expectations, particularly when traveling with a young child.
-
Great staff Good food.
The food wasan exceptional buffet where you might find anything you might imagine The view from Restaurant Azul was lovely. Close to the main pool, yet a complete view of the ocean. Our service was attentive, and Abraham took time to explain the local fruit. He has great humor!

Peak season is a bit of mess -- but food was outstanding
I wasn't impressed with Grand Velas Riviera Maya after our 1 week stay. Note, I went during peak season, which was frequently used as an excuse by staff for various issues. But, I also paid a small fortune to go so my expectations were very high (as yours should be for this price). My wife and I also frequent high-end all inclusive all over the world so have seen our share of good and bad. Grand Velas isn't BAD, but for 10k+ I expect GREAT and didn't get it. Here's pros and cons: Pros: -The food, especially at dinner. It was as close to perfect as I've had from an all inclusive. Every restaurant was great. Staff was great, though appeared stretched thin in many places. -The drinks were great and they had a good variety. My parents, who traveled with us, loved the mocktails as they don't drink alcohol. They had lots of options including some higher end mixed drinks. -The staff was lovely. Super friendly and nice, just not enough people working (see Cons). -Beautiful beach with soft white sand. Though, a Man-o-War was reported early in our stay so swimming was very limited (not the resort's fault). -Very comfortable bed. Cons: -Place was PACKED. If you want to find a place to sit at the pool without waking up early and putting a towel down, you probably are out of luck. At this price I expect there to be many more chairs than people, which other high-end resorts can manage (yes, during peak season). -The staff was stretched thin. Service at restaurants was spotty, due to no fault of the staff. There just weren't enough of them. To me, it looked like corners were cut to save money which at this price isn't what I expect. -Along the lines of cutting corners - the common spaces weren't kept clean and functional. My wife found nearly every toilet was clogged in the two adjacent pool areas (Grand and Ambassador). Took 30+ minutes for someone to come look at it when we reported. Also, all but one of the treadmills in one of the gyms were broken and non-functioning. We reported early in our 1 week stay and nothing came of it. The plunge pool in our room that I paid extra for was not regularly cleaned and was full of debris, it was freezing cold, and the jets didn't work. -Lots of little things.. which again, if I paid half or even 2/3rds of what I paid would be overlooked. Our shuttle to the property (which I paid for directly to Grand Velas) was late by 45 mins, had to call the property to figure out what was going on. Minibar, which was supposed to be refilled daily, was never refilled unless I asked. Cleaning was late every day, coming in after 4PM which was about the time we came back from dinner. Overall, I don't recommend this place. You can do better for this rate--all of the Pros I mention can be found elsewhere with fewer of the Cons. The one selling point that is fairly rare is the high caliber of food across all restaurants (for dinner - breakfast was so-so and lunch was mixed depending on venue). It's honestly a huge selling point for me as my wife and I love high-end dining experiences, but not enough to overcome all the other issues we saw.

Gracie is the best nanny at Grand Velas!
Gracie was the nanny we used during our stay. Despite my baby having “stranger danger” she got him to warm up to her even to the point where he would jump from my arms into hers! She made the stay so much more relaxing knowing I had a reliable and loving extra set of hands. Thank you Gracie!
