Babymoon Bliss
We came to Hawaii on a last minute change for our babymoon and we were not disappointed! Although I am a diamond member and did not get an upgrade, the front desk lady was very kind and gave us a room with a good view. We were on the Wailea wing on the fourth floor (lobby level) and could see the gardens and ocean perfectly! We loved the room and the balcony. They provided me extra pillows since I was pregnant which was perfect. We were very impressed by the food and thought it was very good, especially humu. You have to try to try pog! We enjoyed the adults only pool and also did the lazy river. Service at the adult pool was perfect for drinks and food, although for frozen drinks you need to go down to a different bar for that. The resort is very, very large so while we were slightly disappointed they did not do anything special for us for our babymoon, we would definitely make the trip back and loved the resort. I did two pregnancy massages (one alone and one as a couples massage) and the spa did write a kind letter to us about celebrating the baby which was lovely. The renovated spa is beautiful and has a warm, pregnancy approved salt pool that I enjoyed. The massage also had a pregnancy pillow that allowed room for my belly while getting massaged. My husband loved the sauna and steam rooms, along with the hot tubs which I couldn't do while pregnant. Resort is in an ideal location. We went to the wailea shops almost daily for açaí bowls and they were fabulous ( much better than on resort property in my opinion) it was only a 3-5 minute walk. We did the complimentary photoshoot for maternity photos and was worth it for a few shots, although slightly expensive. We stayed on property, besides walking to the neighboring hotels, for the majority of the trip and it is the perfect place to relax even if you don't want to go out and explore. We are looking forward to one day bringing are baby back!! Love this property!

Not ADA Friendly...Nice but SPENDY
Overall, a beautiful resort and great for families. We had a handicap traveler with us and this resort, while having some ramps, does not accommodate for ADA. First, the ADA room we stayed in had horribly low and uncomfortable beds (for as much as one pays here). The shower and large bathroom were nice. Secondly, the pool has a LOT of stairs and no ADA chairs, only loungers that are uncomfortable. All the lounge chairs are attached and cannot be moved to get in and out of. We asked or a sit up chair for the pool and had a hard time getting one. When we finally did, it was a chair for the size of a five year old, not adult. The luau was great, once we finally got rescheduled after they cancelled the one we had scheduled over two months prior. We had to get management involved to get any of these items fixed or changed which is rather disappointing. VERY EXPENSIVE FOOD. We found the Island Market next door had great coffee and meals for less than half the cost. Probably won't go here again, but rather a condo with full kitchen. The refrigerator they provide isn't worth it. Can't fit leftovers, only a few drinks.

If you love the beach this might not be the hotel for you. They charge 150.00 a day to rent a beach chairs!
If the beach is where you like to spend your time this might not be the right hotel for you. They charge 150.00 dollars a day to rent a beach chair. They do offer complimentary Tommy Bahama backpack chairs but there is very little available. We were not able to get these chairs for our whole stay of ten days.

Great stay with top-notch service at a gorgeous resort
After very disappointing stay in October at the Hilton Waikoloa, we weren’t sure what to expect at the Grand Wailea. I traveled with my best friend and her sister. Upon arrival, Bellman Ryan greeted us, took our bags, brought them to our room, and answered questions cheerfully and patiently. he gave us some great ideas and suggestions. It was a wonderful way to start the stay. For the first time in years, I felt truly valued and welcomed as a guest and lifetime Diamond member. We stayed in the Napua tower. Our view and room were gorgeous and Housekeeping was top-notch. The room, bathroom and lanai were kept spotless. The Nespresso machines kept fully stocked, although fresh coffee is also available in the Napua lounge at any time. The concierge team and staff in the Napua lounge are among the best I’ve experienced in 20+ years of business travel. Katherine, Lei, Faye, Ana, Zenith, and Patty in the Napua lounge, the entire pool staff, yoga and activity instructors, and restaurant staff were fantastic at all times. Napua lounge had a very good breakfast with plenty of fresh ripe fruit and a selection that changed daily. Snacks and evening appetizers were also good. Bartender Zenith was a delight and gave us several great suggestions. The beach is clean with just the right number of activities available. I appreciate that they haven’t let it become overrun with vendors. The hibiscus pool is adults only and is a wonderful place to relax. We enjoyed a 30 minute massage near the pool that was a reasonable price for a resort of this caliber. The one negative is the $65 parking charge – even if you pick up a rental car on site. Valet parking is quick, but if you aren’t driving a high-end car, there are a few of the valet staff that will ignore you. Thankfully, most of the valets didn’t care if you were driving a rental car. It was an odd anomaly for a resort that otherwise had fantastic consistent high-end service. We had a phenomenal stay and will be back in about six months.

Basic, expensive, not worth it
I don’t even know where to start with this review. When ever I travel I like to travel in style. I was thinking since it’s a Waldorf Astoria hotel it would be luxurious. It was everything but that. We paid for a Ocean View room and they put it us in a room starring at another building, I’d have to bend over the balcony to see the ocean, went to switch rooms it was an extra $100 a night.ok fine! It’s very outdated, no smart TV in the rooms, no mini bar, walk a mile to refill your water bottle they provide you if you want some water, no room service after 9pm and no restaurants are open either after 9, staff is not friendly or welcoming at all. This hotel Nickel and dimes you every step of the way. You want a can of soda $8, cocktail $22, valet $65 night, basic dinner for 2 $300 , beach chair $75. Most hotels have free beach loungers. I’d definitely pass on this hotel next time and go down to the four season or Fairmont. The grounds are pretty, the lobby’s nice and that’s about it. I paid $900 a night I didn’t feel it was worth more then $400 a night and don’t you dare forget your valet ticket you’ll get scolded by the valet guy when it literally only took the guy 2 seconds to find my name and car by just showing him my ID. I didn’t appreciate that while on vacation paying so much to be there. The costumer is definitely not always right here. It’s a hard pass for me.
