Worst Vacation Ever
Day 1: By far was the WORST experience I have ever had at a hotel ( and I travel for a living). MY check In was 3.36 hours. At first they told me I could not use 2 credit cards to pay. They told me that was in the email that was sent to me. It nowhere stated in the 2 emails that were sent to me ( which I showed them). Finally got a manager who authorized a split transaction after being there for an hour and a half. Then I asked for a follio or receipt. I was given a wristband but not told one thing about the property ( I am here 4 six nights for a birthday party). I had to ask 4 times for my room number. They finally put it on a sticky note. When I finally got to my room, the key didn't work. I had to go all the way back down ( after traveling 10 hours), to the desk. They reactivated my wrist band and I went back to my room. The extra I paid for a ocean view was not one ( verified by the porter who brought my luggage up). I then had to wait for the manager to again assist me. The other staff was either not trained or had the authority to help me. I then was told by the manager, that they only had king beds and not the two queens I requested (please note the beds are children's twin beds). He let me know that the bedding size was based on avalibility and could NOT be requested ( NOTICE THE "OR" IN YOUR ROOM CHOICE). I reminded him that if nonthing else I paid extra for the ocean view. He said he would change my room tomorrow..cutting into my activities and my vacation. I also let him know when he helped me the previous 2 times, I didn't get any information on the property, a folios or even how to get to the elevator. It's all inclusive so those are things you might want to know. If you ask the staff a question, they give you a blank stare. This is clearly not the State Side Marriott I know. I am still waiting for service recovery or a refund of what I didn't get (as in room type WHICH COST MORE MONEY). The rules made no sense and when called on it, the rules changed again. I can't tell you how many times we were interrupted ( by staff members) and I honestly can't tell you why. Customer service is NOT a priority here. Please note I called the property at least 10 times, either no one picked up, rang busy or did not EVER get a return phone call. I'm only here to support someone special birthday.....they had the audacity to want her to fix the hotels problem. The bathroom flooded water into the bedroom, taking another day out of our vacation. I had to demand to see a manager....but once again...no service recovery. They promised some points as a service recovery, but once again it hasn't been provided. The food tast like it pre made ( or they ran out). The furniture in the buffet is filthy and stained. They make you pay up front and WILL NOT make ANY adjustments in ANY short coming as a hotel. I sent 10 emails to the hotel, but clearly was a waste of time. No one was listening. You have been warned. P.S. the beach, once you walk past the last lounge chair, look like a dump site. P.S.S. I left with Covid

A Great Week in Paradise
With a couple exceptions, the food was great. There were two restaurants we didn’t care for but with so many options available that wasn’t a problem. We stayed for 7 nights and only had to repeat a restaurant once. The service was great and the staff were incredibly friendly. We had two amazing butlers, Kamal and Dexter, who made sure we had a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. They were very attentive and accessible. Kamal went above and beyond for us multiple times, he very clearly knows how to take care of his guests, and genuinely enjoys making them happy. He would make a fine manager. I would recommend The Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters to anyone that is looking for a fun, yet relaxing beach vacation.

Very good value. I’d return.
We had 3 rooms in total for our group. We did not have Diamond Club and we did not upgrade our room. They put us all in the same hallway on the 6th floor overlooking a service/shipping area where the ocean could be seen in the distance. There was a constant hum of machinery that couldn’t be heard when the balcony door was closed. One of the room’s air conditioning was not working and after trying to fix it twice they switched the room the day after we arrived. Appreciated the speedy resolution. The rooms were the perfect size for a couple and the bed was probably the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. I bring my own pillow, so can’t comment on those but they were large and squishy. The resort has beautifully decorated spaces. It’s very, very clean. Cleaning is ongoing throughout the day. Although there didn’t seem to be a troublesome amount of seaweed, it was cleaned off the beach first thing in the morning and then a few more times throughout the day. Next door at the Riu Palace this was not happening and the difference in the condition of the beach was shocking. The chair pads were in various states, with some looking very weathered and others that looked newish. Not every lounger had them but they were a nice bonus as they made for more comfortable lounging. Loved the fact that you could take as many towels as you needed and didn’t have to worry about always hanging onto a towel to trade in. The lazy river and the jacuzzi on the hideaway side were being repaired for half of our trip but both were working before we left. There was always something going on in the evening for entertainment on one side or the other, or both. I’m an early riser and am usually in bed by 9 so didn’t participate much, but caught a band and a water ballet show. There was an entertainment crew around the main pool that had activities going on throughout the day for those that participate in that sort of thing. The food was surprisingly very good for an all inclusive. In our group we had a vegetarian and a gluten-free person and no one struggled to find enough food choices. The buffet offered a lot of choice, although I wish there were more fruit options. They even had soy Jamaican patties available at the buffet the day of our arrival and again at Calypso as an appetizer (chicken and beef patties too). The restaurants were easy to book. We ate at Dorado, Hunter, Taj, Armadillo and Calypso. All of them were very good, my favourite was Taj. The drinks were excellent, blended drinks like Pina Coladas and Margaritas were made fresh to order. The only shortages we encountered were bananas (due to the September hurricane) and lids for coffee cups by mid week. The coffee shop was also a favourite of mine. I visited it every morning to grab a delicious latte expertly made on a proper machine and then sat at the quiet and peaceful beach to enjoy it. There were never any issues finding a space by the pool or the beach, although Monday thru Thursday at the resort seemed very quiet/low occupancy. Weekends were noticeably busier. Some people had a different type of plastic bracelet on leading me to believe they sell weekend day passes, at least in the off season. The buffet had line ups to be seated on weekend and I imagine during busy season this would be the norm. Luckily the hideaway side has the benefit of a sit-down breakfast as well. The beach is excellent, although we had an extremely windy week. Lots of options for shade. Security is present on the beach at all times. Vendors were minimal and not very intrusive or insistent (you will appreciate this if you’ve ever had the experience of staying on 7 mile). There is beach service right to your chair from 10:30 am to 5 pm, although they seemed to come around a little less often late afternoon. We visited the spa and had a couples massage. Spa prices are really high but I negotiated and paid $200 for both of us. There is a hydro therapy area that you have to book for your visit. We were not told this but they were able to book us a visit right after our massages. The jacuzzi was too hot for me to get in past a 10 second dip of one foot, but there was a lady sitting in it so it must have been a me problem. We didn’t stay long as it’s a small area and the saunas are gender specific. This was our first stay at a Royalton and I would definitely consider this brand again even though I don’t normally like resorts with different tiers (like diamond club for instance)

Go anywhere but here
Receipts don’t make much difference here. I’ve shown up with a receipt for what I’ve paid for…Marriott corporate has called the property multiple times to confirm and this lance cannot get it right. And hey Sergio- either reach out to me to fix it or save the response. You’re awful and so is your hotel.

I would like to thank Keddisha Clarke for quickly helping me with my room issue and checked on me the next days. A thank you to my butlers Joy Ann and Sanoy who kept me up with the daily activities, making reservations and found me at poolside to see if i need anything.
