Mediocre
People are very nice but service was bad and we had a lousy cleaner never replenished the mini bar after several attempts we spent a week there and they brought some sodas and water just the day before we were leaving , we had breakfast and lunch at our hotel but for dinner we had to go on a golf cart to the hotel next door very inconvenient, our hotel doesn’t have a beach so then again you have to go to the hotel next door but you can’t have lunch there you have to comeback to your hotel very disappointing

Good But Not Great
We stayed here 2 couples and a single friend (who stayed at Splash next door) December 2024 for a week. The hotel was good but there were definitely areas that could be improved. I will outline the good things first: Check-in at Hideaway was easy. They brought us immediately to the Hideaway lobby where we had drinks and snacks available while they checked us in. Your bracelet acts as your room access which was much nicer than having to worry about cards all week. Our luggage was brought quickly to our rooms and we were able to go start enjoying our trip. The rooms were great. Clean and modern. Good water pressure, toilets worked well. A/c worked better than at any other resort we stayed at and was digitally controlled. Mini bar was stocked. Note there is no hair dryer in the room and the other couple requested one but never received it. Diamond Club drinks were good. Grey Goose, Belvedere, Patron (although sometimes out), Don Julio. Fresh fruit for blended drinks. But you need to request by brand or they give you the basic stuff which I really don't recommend. Heineken and Coors Light only available in the room bar or you have to walk over to the Hideaway lobby and have someone give you some. Dorado is the restaurant for Hideaway guests only. Food was good here and many healthy options available (smoothies, fish, chicken, beef, rice, veggies). House wine was decent. Our butler was amazing and always available by text for any questions or to help with whatever we needed. He set up our dinner reservations and brought extra items to the room when needed. Public washrooms everywhere were well maintained. They felt clean and usable. The Hideaway beach area was small but we could always find space there, even later in the morning/day. The bar here was also never busy and we never had to wait for anything. The not so good: We all mysteriously got sick on day 2 and spent the evening into the next day with chills, fatigue, stomach issues. One of our party was sick over 2 days and we later heard from many others at the resort who were sick at the same time. Some even had family in hospital. Something went through the resort and I believe the resort knew about it because sanitizer suddenly started popping up everywhere later in the week. At one point, I was concerned and went to the medic who was rude and offered no help. I'm not sure what it was with the food and/or drinks at this resort, but my stomach just felt off all week and a few others noted the same. Even when the food tasted good, I felt like it was hard to stomach. My phone went missing while we were out and about the resort one evening. It was in my purse, which was open (my fault), and I didn't realize it was not there until we were back in the room and I went to charge it. It could have fallen out but I have been to resorts where something like this would have been returned. I reported it missing but it never showed up and now that we are home, I was able to track it to nearby local area by where we stayed. It obviously was taken off the resort and I wonder about the security protocols for staff leaving with property. The Dorado restaurant for Hideaway guests was good but service was very slow and often dishes were mixed up. It usually took about 2 hours start to finish for a simple order. The restaurant is right on the beach with a great view so not always a problem but we did have to decide whether we wanted to spend that amount of time from our day eating lunch, for example. Dinner experience was similar. There is no adults only buffet option. The main buffet and all the a la carte restaurants are open to guests of the Royalton Punta Cana and Splash and children. Just something to keep in mind if you want dinner away from children - the slow Dorado is the only option. In the downstairs section of the Hideaway block, there are a number of staff members situated there at desks and their sole role seems to be selling timeshares. Guests have no choice but to pass through this area and we started ignoring them because even a simple hello would end up in a sales pitch. At one point, we were sat down, given a book of coupons for use at the resort, and told we had one free massage to use. We only found out after we booked and showed up at the spa, that the credit was only given if we attended a 4 hour presentation which they called a welcome breakfast. It was very misleading. In the Hideaway Lounge, one of our party went and requested bottles of water for their room as they didn't receive any. They were given a rude response and asked who they were bringing bottles for. We were similarly made to feel like we shouldn't be requesting too many beers although this was the only place to obtain the higher end beer as it wasn't stocked at any of the bars. We were supposed to receive a bottle of our choice in our rooms. Both couples gave their selections on the first day. We received ours the next day but our friends reminded our butler 3 separate times and then had to speak with a manager when we were about to leave and they seemed not to want to take accountability. They ended up receiving a different bottle after insisting. The general cleanliness of the resort could be improved. All the glass doors and chrome handles constantly looked smudgy and gross. Especially if a virus is ripping through the resort, these high touch areas should be sanitized. Over all we still managed to have a good trip. The resort was not "bad" by any means but considering the price point, it could have been a lot better.

Epic adult experience.
Our stay started with a seamless check in. We were in our room within 15 minutes after sitting down at the check in desk. We ate breakfast and lunch at the Dorado restaurant. Christine and Baron made every meal special. Our evening meals were delicious no matter where we went. The Italian restaurant ended up being our favourite menu our server George made the experience that much better. The other restaurants were just as delicious but we kept returning to the Italian restaurant. Our pool days were excellent as well. The staff was very accommodating especially Juan the best bartender. No matter where we went we were always treated with respect and kindness . I highly recommend this resort. I may have everyone’s name right but they know who they are.

Pleasantly Surprised: A Great Stay at Hideaway
I recently stayed at the Hideaway at the Royalton Punta Cana for 7 nights, and while I was initially nervous due to some negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The service, food, and atmosphere of the resort were excellent. We didn’t opt for the Diamond Club membership upgrade, but this didn’t impact our experience much at all. Booking restaurants was simple through the resort's app, and we were able to secure reservations every night. Each restaurant had a beautiful ambiance, and the food was consistently very nice. Most of the resort staff were friendly and helpful, though a few interactions weren’t as positive, which was fine. The only real issues we encountered were with room service and cleaning. Room service occasionally delivered orders missing items without informing us beforehand, and housekeeping was inconsistent. Even after calling for towels or cleaning, it sometimes didn’t happen. While these minor issues were frustrating, they didn’t overshadow the overall enjoyment of our stay. The resort offers a relaxing, upscale environment that exceeded my expectations in many areas. I would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone considering a trip to Punta Cana. It’s a great option for a memorable vacation.
