Older property, great service, good luck getting a pool chair
Spent 5 nights with wife and daughter over New Year's 24-25. Generally a good property, excellent service, but could use a renovation. The pool situation is not great, with people "reserving" chairs at 8:30 and showing up at 11. This needs to be addressed. Breakfast was OK, probably not worth paying full price for. Rooms were fine, bedding, etc, was fine. Details: I'm a Diamond, stayed for the first time in DEC/JAN. Hotel was an easy $10 Uber from the airport, good location (walk to Boca Grande shops/restaurants, $3-4 Uber to old town). Property itself is rather dated, but that's not a huge deal to me, since it was mechanically and structurally sound. We were upgraded to an ocean view room on the top floor, with a great view. Also had lounge access, which was nice...sodas and light cakes/fruit during the day, and a heavy app beer/wine reception 6-8 nightly. The hotel has what is effectively a private beach, with pretty well controlled access, so you can grab a lounge chair and lay out by the saltwater. It would be nice if they could prevent the vendors from constantly nagging you; that can be distracting when you're trying to read. The pool area is also pretty nice, lots of chairs and three levels of pool. Problem is that people come down at literally 8:30am and "reserve" several chairs with a towel, then leisurely come down at 11 or so. So if you want a lounge chair, you may be out of luck. This is not acceptable; the main draw of the place is to enjoy the sun and the pool. There was a recent article in the WSJ on pool chair enforcement, it's worth a read. This is why I'm not giving 4 stars. We also had a comped breakfast buffet, was decent (omelets, fruit, other local options). It was good but probably not worth paying full price for. Service was top-notch, no issues at all. Staff did a great job. I'd stay again, if coming to vacation in Cartagena, but man...they gotta do something about the pool situation.

Good hotel in Bocagrande
We stayed 5 nights. First night in king ocean view that we booked and then in upgraded executive two queens. Executive room was much bigger and bathroom fixtures worked well, contrary to first room. Great breakfast with juice station. Had various freshly made juices at each breakfast. Mostly Colombian specialties otherwise. Bocagrande location is not the best. One evening when it rained heavily it took our Uber two hours to get back from Walled City with streets flooded (very unusual for January). Desk staff spoke English, but most other hotel staff did not.

Good family hotel but will need to improve to compete with competition in Cartagena
Pro’s: excellent pool, room sizes were good for Colombia, arranged a birthday cake for my son’s birthday (which was lovely) Con’s: some of staff seemed disinterested and not bothered by customer service, hotel is a bit dated (there were multiple leaks in public areas and room), Kids club is mainly just computer games, food a bit hit and miss (which was disappointing considering the prices)

Amazing stay!
We had an exceptionally amazing stay at Hilton Cartagena. Everyone on the team was on top of their tasks. ESTEBAN at Front Desk went out of his way to help us and he was the highlight of our trip. He took care of us in an exemplary way and made sure we felt at home and comfortable. Thank you ESTEBAN. Managers including JUAN HERRARA and OMAR NIEVES paid personal attention to everything that we needed. Overall will recommend this hotel to everyone as they’re truly amazing when it comes to hospitality and taking care of guest. A very happy Diamond Hilton honors member
