Feb 20, 2025Undergoing major building work
The hotel was hard to find as it os covered on scaffolding, due to building works. The building works continue inside too with lots of temporary walls. It made it all a bit underwhelming. A earn re building work on the hotel's website would have been helpful. I might then have booked somewhere a bit better valid had I known. The location was however excellent, right by the royal mile and the breakfast delicious, with good service.

So disappointing
Not sure where to start…..we Diamond members. We stay in a lot of Hiltons. This was my 2nd stay at Hilton Carlton & it’s still under renovations, over a 2 year period. We had to move rooms after 1 night as all my bedhead was peeling . Woke up with pleather all through my hair & linen. Hot water took a good 10 minutes to come through. The manager assisted me very well along with about 5 other people who were involved in the move. We then went for a weekend & returned for another single night. Upon check in, reception tried to give us back the crappy room we moved from !! I couldn’t believe it ! We are meant to get the best available I thought. This room is the worst available. When I refused the room, we were given a good premier room which was perfectly fine. I feel the hotel is run by many junior staff. Unless I’m getting old, there didn’t look like anyone was over about the age of 30. And after staying in quite a few UK Hiltons, I feel they need a complete shake up by their general manager. They are definitely not the same calibre as the rest of the world. Best thing about this hotel is the location. Will possibly be back in July so will be checking directly with them as to the status of the renovations & what room we may be offered, before booking here again. So disappointing in such a beautiful city.

On first sight, such a grand place , but lots of scaffolding in place due to works taking place, on entering the lobby, the smell of flowers hits you and is heavenly, Lea on reception was lovely and checking was a breeze, the room was great and Edinburgh overall was fantastic.

Good service from beginning to end
Stayed for the weekend with my husband the rooms were excellent and the service from Lou was 5 stars . Checking in was fast and made easy . The night manager was lovely . The hotel is situated perfectly for getting around town . Even when your going through renovations you would not realise it as staff were on top form will come again thanks

Rooms are comfortable and clean
Stayed just after Christmas had a wonderful stay staff are amazing and nothing is to much for them especially Lou and Jimmy there asset to the hotel will be back thank you for looking after us and Liam the night manager thank you for everything
