Could Be Great But NEEDS attention
This is a quaint little place to stay, as I wouldn't call it a hotel. Overall, the staff was very nice and they're working with what they have available. There's not much to "complain" about, but it's the little things that are lacking that add up to bigger things. We stayed here on two separate occasions while in Nicaragua, having arrived the first day and then heading off to Granada on Day 4, returning to Managua for another day before leaving to head back to the US. The room that we had (#6) smelled of mildew and our first night there, we realized that the shower was just so bizarre and the water was not hot, barely warm. Again, staff was attentive and sympathetic, but there's not much they can do. When we came out of our room for breakfast, we had asked for hot water for tea, but the water provided was warm. The toast wasn't toasted, and the butter cold, so couldn't really spread it on the bread. On a return and final night in Managua, it seems that there was not much staff available. The TV wasn't working, not coming on and the staff member couldn't fix it, however, he did try and contact someone via video call, but to no avail. They'd placed us back in the same room that we had when we first arrived. I was annoyed but I just gave up since we were leaving the next morning.

A lovely welcome to Nicaragua
A lovely welcome to Nicaragua - colorful, clean, friendly. Comfortable rooms and a wonderful garden with lots of shady corners. Delicious breakfast and most of all - the friendlies, most helpful staff. A pleasure

Beautiful and restful stay
For at least four years, Casa Colonial has been my most recommended small hotel in Managua. Its convenient location close to one of the city's night-life neighborhoods (Zona Hippo's) and commercial centers (MetroCentro) is only one if its draws -- you could really take a short walk to most places you would visit nearby, and other places worth the visit in the city are but a short drive/taxi ride away. The hotel's antique décor and tropical Spanish colonial "feel" also really make it deserve its "boutique" moniker, and the reasonable price point is of course a plus. The hotel has taken every precaution in the midst of the Covid-19 epidemic and you may often find yourself being one of a few (if not the only guests) during this unique period in history; you'll always find an impeccably clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing room with a hot shower waiting for you -- whether for a local stay-cation, or for an international or business visit, Casa Colonia is definitely worth contemplating a stay. The staff is helpful and hospitable and really do their best to accommodate your needs and requests. A Nicaraguan-style continental breakfast is another added plus. Casa Colonia is my go-to recommendation for a visit to Managua (and my favorite boutique hotel in the city).

Great location
Nice staff, very secure, good neighborhood with lots of restaurants and a wonderful bakery across the street, excellent beds and fluffy towels, small pool for dipping, nice staff, good breakfast, quiet, cute/comfy, not too many guests, good wifi, good TV (including CNN), everything good!

Welcoming staff, a beautiful property and a comfortable room!
I have traveled to over 50 countries and to almost every country in Central America. When I leave a review I'm always very honest and transparent. This boutique hotel is excellent! I felt as if I was at home because the staff was very attentive and the hotel property is just beautiful. There are lush gardens and a patio area for breakfast which is just very serene. There is also a lovely little pool near the patio area. I loved the breakfast which was included and the different options I could choose from which was served to me. The room was very clean and comfortable and stocked with all of the amenities. The only thing to note about booking a room here is that no one seemed to speak any English. Therefore, if you do stay here you need to either speak Spanish or have your Google Translator app handy! i am able to speak basic Spanish so I didn't have any problems.
