Great location
I went to Spanish school in the past here so am familiar with the location. I did not use the pool but it has a nice setting. Only 3 wooden lounge chairs by it though. Couch nearby was my spot. They have a menu now for breakfast so you can have a fruit bowl or an American breakfast . I was there a while so had the Nica one a few times as well. I thought it was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a resident cat who seemed to like me and wanted rubs! Surprised by the hot water in the shower! Bed was comfortable, could use a stronger light by the bed. Highly recommended

Beautiful property, amazing staff, great location.
We were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with our stay at Casa Consulado. The friendly and helpful employees were the highlight. Would definitely stay here again. Pros: The rooms. Ours was very comfortable, large, and beautifully decorated. The huge shower was supplied with quality soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The refrigerator was a nice surprise. The beds were comfy. Common areas. There are plenty of seating areas and places to lounge and relax if you don’t want to stay inside your room. The pool is large, clean and a nice way to cool off on a hot day. The amazing staff. From the moment we arrived until the time we departed every member of the staff was kind and helpful. Everyone from the front desk reception employees to the house keeper passing us in the hallway smiled and said hello. They were helpful and did everything they could to assist us with plans and any requests we had. They arranged laundry service, printed a map and helped us locate different places, arranged a taxi to our next location, and answered our many questions. Location. Step out onto the street, look to your right and you will see the beautiful yellow cathedral on the square about two blocks away. The hotel is located in a safe and convenient area. Cons: Potable water. Or lack of potable water. No drinking water is supplied which to me was a huge deal and the reason they did not get five stars. During check in we asked where we could fill our water bottles and were given directions to a super market. We were hot and tired and just wanted to have a dip in the pool and a nap. But instead we had to go back out into the heat to walk two blocks to a store to purchase a gallon of water to keep in our room. This was the only hotel in Nicaragua that we stayed in that didn’t provide any drinking water. For the price of the room at the very least they should have at least a couple of bottles of water in the room, but really they should have water available to refill the bottles we had brought with us. Lack of privacy for bathroom. There is a door for the toilet, but the shower, sink and dressing area were open to the room. Probably not an issue for most, but if you would like a little privacy it could be challenging. Breakfast. A typical Nica breakfast is included, and it was just okay. Not bad, but not great. Lots of room for improvement, maybe even add just a little fresh fruit or maybe a slice of avocado.

Pleasant Two-Night Stay
I stayed here with my wife and mother-in-law (room w/ two queen beds). We had a nice stay. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located and has pool and has colonial features. Our room had hot water, A/C, cable tv, mini fridge, and access to a private courtyard. The only opportunity for improvement IMHO was the breakfast, which was just okay.

So good we ate here 3 times!
We loved eating at this venue! We ended up having lunch here 3 days in a row. The service is friendly, the meals come out promptly and they taste great! You have a choice of beef, chicken, fish or pork as the meat and it comes with sides of fried plantains, salad and rice. A drink of typically Jamaica Agua is included too and they series include little free extras such as a taster of soup. The meal is inexpensive being between 110c-125c. They accept cash only.

Very Pleasant Hotel in this Interesting City
For the first time since the uprisings of 2018 a few tourists are returning to Nicaragua which is a very beautiful country. Although I would not recommend travelling here on your, travelling with an organized tour is now quite feasible. One of the stops will certainly be the old colonial city of Granada which has an architectural identity created by the wars and fires of the mid 1800s. Everything basically dates from after that time including the Hotel Casa del Consulado. It is located only two short blocks away from the main plaza and cathedral which may be the most recognizable building in all of Central America. There are only 14 rooms which are quite large and centred around an open courtyard. There are some nice paintings on the walls of volcanoes and lakes. Breakfast is included and is served individually rather than as a buffet and it's quite good. There is also a bar and a pool which is great for cooling off in Granada's very hot afternoons. Our room was on the second floor and had an outdoor patio. The internet works well and you can get a few english channels on the tv. Overall this place is a safe oasis in this interesting city.
