Good basic hotel
We booked this hotel as it is one of the hotels for free pick up and drop off on the Coast to Coast boat trip through the Panama Canal. We stayed 6 nights before joining a group tour of Central America. We found the easiest way to get around was by Uber - then no scams with taxi fares. The area around the hotel is a little seedy, with ladies of the night on street corners! However, there aren't any great places to go eat nearby with the exception of the little restaurant on the corner to the left as you come out of the hotel. It has a live band at the weekends, they speak no English but we had a great couple of nights there. We had a good breakfast at the hotel most mornings and once used the restaurant for an evening bite. Service a little slow, but otherwise good. Many Panamanians use this hotel as a base for local hospitals - there are several not far away. the only real disappointment was the pool. There were many broken tiles all around the edge, broken polystyrene in the water, and little, if any filtration. The water was a little cloudy and the tiles above the waterline covered in scum. (Sunscreen). There were a few sunbeds and a table and chairs for the shade. the NO alcohol notice was clearly ignored and many guest took their own drink up there and couldn't be bothered to clear away the mess. For us, the bed was a standard double and comfy, the room was a bit dingy but clean and the shower room was in need of an overhaul, but it all worked well. Wifi was good and so all in all, it served its purpose well. We were only sleeping there after all!

Dissapointing and Misleading
We were disappointed with our stay at the Costa Inn. Many of the amenities that sold us on booking were not honored/accurate.After notifying the correct people at the airport about needing a shuttle (which is included in the booking), no one came to get us. The lady at the airport (who was very rude) said she couldn't find a driver to come, so we would either have to keep waiting or take a taxi. When we finally got to the hotel - the transport driver was sitting there on his phone...Another selling feature was the bar/restaurant which the website / profile states is open 24 hours a day - this is false!! We were very hungry when we arrived at 11:30pm, and when I asked about the restaurant, they just said "no - is closed". It even says on the door that it is open 24 hours. We asked if there was a place to get snacks / water etc, and the staff again said no. We went out to try and look for a store, but quickly turned around when we realized the hotel is in a very seedy area. At night there were people on every corner trying to wave us over, and we felt too uncomfortable to continue looking around. The breakfast was ok... Coffee, toast, eggs, cake, and hot dogs. The ONLY good thing about this hotel (besides the price - which I now understand why it is so cheap) is the rooftop pool, which actually has nice views of the city and was decently clean. Would not recommend staying here... spend the few extra dollars and stay in Casco Viejo!!

Turismo
Quiet peacefull place, the workers there are nice , they give good gentle service, the hotel is on reparations but is fine. The restorant provides a good breakfast, meals are good here, specially paellas, is a good point for discovering the city.

Practical, reasonable Hotel
I stay at the Hotel Costa Inn because it is reasonably priced and has everything I need: a twenty-four hour restaurant and bar when I arrive on a late evening flight, good internet service, hot water in the shower. The air conditioning is effective, though a bit loud. The swimming pool is nice enough for lounging, not big enough to swim more than a few strokes. The included breakfast is basic and filling. The free shuttle to Albrook Mall is helpful if you don't want to figure out the subway system, although the nearest subway station is only two blocks from the hotel.

Condoms and hair and bare wires, oh my!
Wife and I stayed for a long weekend at Costa Inn. If you plan to stay here, I would say lower your expectations: - Hair in food (breakfast and dinner) - Hair in "clean" bed sheets - Soiled pillow cases - Exposed wiring @ head of bed - Shower head missing - Condom wrapper in swimming pool We checked in and went to our room. Within 5 minutes we requested a room change as ours was dirty, smelled like smoke, and the door bathroom knob was falling off. The new room, while free of smoke smell, had exposed wires that were by our heads, only one outlet in the room worked (behind the TV mounted to the wall), hair on the sheets / comforter, and dirty towels in it. The breakfast buffet was unpalatable - we had hair in nearly every type of food we chose. I guess hair loss is is a real thing in Panama. Coffee was, well, crappy hotel coffee. I was SUPER stoked on the roof top pool, until I found a condom wrapper in it. Lost my thirst to get in the pool. Maybe it's why the pool had a murky appearance? By in large, it seemed like the staff didn't have the time of day for us (aside from the gal who checked us in), or any of the other patrons. When they were helping us, they were short and unapologetic. Oh, and even though we couldn't find it required anywhere, you need a reservation for the return shuttle to the airport. Or plan on spending $20 on an Uber. But, $2.25 Balboas at the bar - I guess there is one thing about the place that was redeeming!
