- Other Local AttractionsCozumel is rich in history and natural wonders. Popular destinations include ancient Mayan temples on the north side of the Island; the sanctuary to Ix- Chel -the fertility goddess- in San Gervasio and the Museum of the Island of Cozumel, with its colorful displays of underwater reefs and other Island treasures. At El Cedral, on the south side of the Island, the oldest Maya structure on Cozumel built in A.D. 800 can be found. Nearby a towering lighthouse at Punta Sur offers a 360-degree view of the Island.
Cozumel is habitat to many nature reserves: the Cozumel Marine Reef National Park, Chankanaab Park and Lagoon, and Punta Sur. Botanical gardens at Chankanaab Park display 350 different types of tropical plants from more than 20 countries. Another attraction is the dolphin aquarium, treating visitors to a close-encounter with playful dolphins. Punta Sur is a new eco-tourist park for visitors interested in learning about the Island's native flora and fauna. Encircling a region known as Colombia Lagoon, Punta Sur is a unique setting of mangrove jungles, white sandy beaches and reef formations. The Park's information center allows visitors to watch a 20-minute video and learn about different eco-systems, environment and native birds, turtles, alligators, fish and coral in the Park. At the information center, visitors can rent electric bikes to explore Punta Sur on their own.

Already to book our next visit. The dive shop and staff were great as well.
Service was fantastic ,Keira Valdez took care of most days and was a delight. Other then our fish at the Ala carte restaurant being over cooked for our like the food was always tasty and fresh. Beach and pool areas were clean and beds comfortable.

Great time in Cozumel
The location was great. It was within short walking distance to 2 grocery stores. The staff was fantastic, especially the pool area waitress, Keira Valdez. She had the greatest attitude and infectious smile. You could tell she really loved her job. My wife and plan to return next year.

Great Value/Fantastic Staff!
The main components of a resort holiday are staff, food, rooms, activities & facilities. Staff: Our trip started off not great with a delayed flight, causing us to miss our first night at the resort. We were surprised (and a little upset) that our room wasn't ready, even though we were a day late. After this, we can't say enough good things about our interactions with the rest of the staff, particularly wait staff - both Manuel's, Juan, Silvia, William, Keira, Marianna, the bartenders at both the lobby bar and the Monkey Bar (pool bar). The pool activities staff were also amazing, especially Diego, Juanita, Jesus, Suny & Antony. Overall, everyone that we interacted with were very helpful and accommodating, but in a very relaxed and easy manner. They really make you feel at home. Food & Drinks: Many of the review that we read before going on this trip described the food as more middle-of-the-road fare and we would agree with this assessment. However, the breakfasts were very good with a great variety of choices and make sure you have an omelette! The chicken wings at the pool restaurant were great as well as the guacamole. The buffets (other than the breakfast buffets) tend to vary in the quality of the dishes but we could always find something pleasing. The specialty themed nights which are Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays (reservations required) were better than the supper buffets. Generally speaking there was a wide variety of selections at any of the dining areas. As far as alcoholic beverages go, the mango margaritas were amazing as well as the mojitos. The classic margarita wasn't as good as other ones we had in Cozumel. There is an available upgrade package for premium alcohol (additional $35/day) but we felt that the standard alcohol was more than adequate. You can even get Johnny Walker Red Label. The bar water & ice is purified so we had no issues digestively speaking. Rooms: There are 182 rooms in this resort. The rooms are very basic. There is no furniture besides the double beds and a night table in between them. There are chairs on the deck and lots of places to hang wet clothing. There is a fridge, an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, safe and two suitcase stands. There are no facecloths so bring your own! The rooms are quiet and clean and have blackout shades in case you want to sleep in. Activities: This resort definitely caters to the dive community and we met many people that have been coming back to this resort for decades for diving. There is a separate dive company located within the resort, but there were people there that used outside dive companies as well. For those who don't dive, there are many activities throughout the day under the guidance of Diego (who is fantastic). We participated in water aerobics, cooking class (don't miss the guacamole making one), Zumba class by Jesus, water volleyball, "Crazy" game and "Lazy" game (you'll have to find out what these are for yourself). They definitely know their clientele as most of the music during the day is from the 70s and 80s. One thing we loved is that the music isn't blaring and the pool vibe is definitely quiet and relaxing. You are not forced into participating in activities if you don't wish to. We never had a problem getting chairs either at poolside or beachside. We were there during Superbowl so the staff really went out of their way to make it a real enjoyable party. Facilities: This resort is extremely well laid out with the very large pool area surrounded by the buildings housing the rooms. You don't hear any street noise even though it's located right on the main strip. At the pool, which we were told is the largest on the island, you can find sun and shade throughout the day. There is a manmade beach area built up behind a seawall where they have brought in sand, palm trees and lounge chairs, and a bar. There is ocean access by going down some stairs if you want to do some swimming or snorkeling. The nice thing about this beach is you don't have any local vendors trying to sell you their goods. The hotel itself is dated and could use a refresh but everything is well-maintained. The location of this resort is fantastic, as you can walk into town which is very safe. The town itself is very clean and we found the local people very friendly and didn't hound you if you declined to purchase their goods. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here at Cozumel Hotel & Resort and would definitely go back. There are things about it that pulled our rating down and things that pulled it up so that's why we ended up at a 4* overall.

Love this place!
We were here a couple of years ago and disappointed. We decided to return and give it another try but this time bringing 8 others with us and they all absolutely loved it! They have really stepped it up from the last time we were here. Workers work very hard, from the wait staff to the entertainment staff (but they always have anyway).
