Dinner Despair 🤦🏻♂️
Our group went to the restaurant to celebrate Valentine's Day. The setting and ambience in the courtyard was excellent, everyone was happy with the set menu which in terms of cooking and creativity was enjoyed by all, however the service was poor and soured what should have been a wonderful evening. Staff were surly and rude with little or no appreciation of general etiquette (miss-pouring drinks, omitting orders, ignoring requests, clearing plates while people were eating etc). You should get what you pay for but not here ☹️

Worst new year's eve night of my life
We had a pre-made, pre-paid reservation at this hotel which was, apparently, a 4 or 5-star hotel, not to mention we were to spend the new year's eve here. We had to pay extra for extra services and were to stay for 4 nights. We made a Panama-Costa Rica-Nicaragua trip and until this accommodation we weren't disappointed. When we got there the staff told us that all the good rooms we paid extra to have were given away and we had to stay in an appendix across the street... that was terrible. The next day we complained to the owner who said the rooms have been booked through online sites so he couldn't do anything for us even though we paid extra to have the best service. We were a big group, we were separated, some of us in the appendix, some in the actual hotel. We attended the new year's party and had meals there, but the rooms we got, around 20 of us, were the worst I have ever seen considering the money and reputation of this hotel. They were dirty, had bugs, were very small, no place for our luggage, no attention to details... nothing. They looked like old apartment rooms, and like no one had visited in a long time. IT WAS AWFUL. I cried when I saw the room, especially since we expected good services for the money we paid. I hope the owner learned something and won't sell twice the rooms and then offer some random appendix that was.... purely horrific.

Hotel Dario, Granada Nicaragua
This is our second stay at Hotel Dario. The hotel is located on Calle La Calzada. This is the main street in Granada where most everything happens in the evening to the wee hours of the morning! Upon our check in, we were indulged with two complimentary Margaritas! The attention is beyond excellent! We went to our room which was situated on the main floor across from the interior garden and entry to the hotel. The room is ample in size as well as the bathroom. We chose not to have the balcony views this time around in order to not have the distractions from the street below. The following morning, the Breakfast Buffet awaited us in the early AM, the buffet is varied having something for everyone! The staff is excellent in meeting the needs of their clients! The hotel offers all your typical amenities - bar, pool, restaurant, WiFi. Nothing is lacking! I am already looking for a three-peat as this will be my home away from home when in Granada!

Excellent food and service in historic building
This is a beautiful restaurant in a historic building on Calle La Calzada. The restaurant is set in a gorgeous courtyard area and the service is excellent. We had the chocolate de Casa and Chocolate cake. Both were presented beautifully and were delicious. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and we really enjoyed our time here. It is worthwhile having a look around the restaurant while you’re there as the walls are adorned with historic photos of the family that owned this house as well as plenty of interesting memorabilia. They accept cash or card and there’s no extra charge for paying by card.

Food and ambience / traditional don't expect 5 star
Recommend staying 1/2 nights - this is a place to go for the ambience, you are in the centre of everything. All sites are walking distance, you are on the main restaurant/ bar road so ask for a courtyard facing room. Good to stay to get a feel for Granada, breakfast amazing (french toast) but service is classic and very chilled! Rooms are air conditioned and clean, beds large and comfy which is all you really need.
