I wouldnt return.
Check in was not great. Not much English spoken here. There was no room with and ocean view but she was going to offer one for $100mxn extra per night but they didnt have our required 2 beds. The room we ended up with was old and tacky with mold in the bathroom but no other rooms were available. When I went to vheck in the next morning there were about 30 people checking in. No other room available. The AC worked well but no control. It was either on or off and it sounded like a jet airplane.

Only 2 * - can’t recommend this place
the photos on the site look better than they actually are. large gaps between the wall and the door, the air conditioner is not adjustable, condensation drips from the ceiling onto the bed, and there is no place to move it. there are stains on the TV and stains on the bed, there is not 1 towel, 1 small bottle of shampoo and 1 bottle of water for 3 person . no wardrobe - just a stick between the walls and several different hangers the only window overlooks the ocean but also to the common balcony, if you open the curtains, then everyone passing by into other rooms will see you the beach is dirty, I do not recommend swimming there, and there are big waves, it will come up to the surfers I don’t understand- who gives 4 stars to this hotel, only 2* We immediately left for another hotel I think 4* hotel must have a small refrigerator, safe, teapot , clean and dry beds

Ahhh...what a great winter get away!
I was back again at the Hotel Marbella and it's still wonderful! The ocean lulled me to sleep each evening outside my balcony, the sun came up over the town of Manzanillo, incredible sunrises and sunsets! Swaying palm trees, who can ask for anything more? This is the most idyllic place to spend some winter days! The Staff continues to be so very caring, everyone from the Front Desk to the waiters, waitresses and room maids were so very kind. The kindness of the Staff makes this hotel different from the others. The Front Desk clerk at check in spoke perfect English as did many of the hotel staff. The hotel is on the beach, in an incredibly beautiful location. They have two restaurants, Las Redes and El Marinero. The cuisine in El Marinero is Spanish, they serve wonderful jamon serrano as well as paella, and the cheeses! Wow! El Marinero is a patio overlooking the Pacific, it's beautiful! Las Redes served a buffet breakfast that was incredible! The price is right and can't be beat. Perhaps the thing I like best about this hotel is it is family owned, the owner and her daughter care for every detail in this hotel, they greet their guests and they enjoy a wonderful camaraderie with their employees as well as their guests. Hotel Marbella is a step above corporate hotels, it's a look into the very heart of Mexico. It's a great

Not what I was expecting.....
Booked through Interval timeshare travel, after doing some research on line. Thought ratings for hotel were ok. Pro’s: Location for getting around town, very walkable and safe, lots of pedestrians Staff is fantastic Cleanliness is good but needs a deep clean in rooms, there is mold in some room Air conditioning worked well El Marinero restaurant attached to hotel is wonderful, they have two menus one for cafe area (great breakfast also they serve poolside and on beach) other for dining room, try fish soup, garlic soup (really!!), paella (order an hour in advance feeds 4 ppl) anything with prawns. Beach area is clean with tables, chairs and umbrellas Wifi is good Hotel supplies bottles of water Cons: Rooms, there are 3 types; 4 storey building with elevator, rooms have open hallway to outside so when you have curtains open anyone can walk by, no privacy. The beachside rooms are LOUD, seems romantic to have waves crashing BUT it’s VERY loud, even with earplugs I couldn’t sleep, so we moved rooms to non beach facing room. No fridge/coffee maker/hairdryer, we bought a Styrofoam cooler and the hotel didn’t supply ice, so we had to go to local convenience store to purchase (5 min walk). Hotel should just sell ice so you are not carrying from store. Beds are hard, I find this typical in Mexico resorts. 2 story walk up; There are rooms with big balconies ask for those, beach noise is still there. Old building where reception is, 3 story walk up, the rooms have small balconies. We moved here after our first room. Same details as prior. Pool is good but expect many local Mexican guests (90% on weekends), there is a competition for loudest mariachi music over Bluetooth speakers and kids are loud in pool, BUT this is Mexico so let them live it up, we are visiting their country... we stayed on beach where it was quieter. Some other USA/CAD guests loved this hotel and some were paying only $50/night so what can you expect? Important note about the ocean: it’s tough to swim! Those crashing waves can be dangerous. I would never let children swim in ocean. I’m fit and consider myself a good swimmer, I went in twice (warm water) first time the waves were down I had fun (that is an exception) second time I went in and got pounded twice by waves, not fun.... there are no lifeguards. There are calmer areas located at each end of the bay, where the water is much calmer.
