El Cid - The Crooks
Absolute crooks!!! They will promise the world and give you nothing once you have signed their contract. They were supposed to purchase another property as part of our purchasing agreement, which they have not done. When we questioned them, we were told that they wanted us to default on the other contract. This approach would have very negative effects on our personal credit....we contact, they LIE. Stay clear of purchasing anything from the group.

A Family Trip of a Lifetime
My husband and I spent the week of January 4-11, 2025 at the Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. As ECVC members, we invited my husband’s five siblings and their spouses to join us. We had an amazing vacation. We have been going to this resort since it first opened almost twenty years ago. It was lovely then but has since expanded and matured into an incredible resort, with many first-class restaurants, bars and numerous beautiful pools to choose from, just to mention a few of its attributes. The accommodations were exceptional as was the service. The weather could have been a bit better, but unfortunately there was nothing that could be done about that.😜 We would like to give honourable mention to several of those who helped us both before and during our stay, to help make it the exceptional stay it was. - First, there is Sara Gutierrez, who helped us with many of the logistics before our arrival. This was an invaluable service which we and our whole party greatly appreciated. - Then there was Mary, at the Marina Platinum Club, who helped ensure a very smooth and seamless check-in and check-out for our large party of twelve. - Finally, during our stay, we enjoyed the top-notch attention of our two butlers, Alan Villaseñor and Gerson Sanchez. Using WhatsApp or speaking with them directly (as they were almost always nearby), we were able to easily and conveniently express our needs, to which both responded quickly and thoroughly. This was a trip of a lifetime for our family and we thank the team at El Cid who helped make it so.

Beach isn't for me but thr resort is amazing!!!
Overall we had a great experience. Food: was good everywhere. Lots of choices and great quality. A la cartes were booked two at a time, and we got times that were acceptable to us. Breakfast buffet was great. There was 24 hour room service but we didn't try it. Wifi: we got 4 codes with out stay and it worked great all around the resort. Pools: we visited most of the pools on both resorts and could always get a chair. We loved the service and they were always clean. Rooms: we had a double bed room, and room service was hit and miss but we always had the fridge stocked, and timing for maid service was hit and miss. Always had towels and had a clean room. Beds were comfy and we had lots of space. Beach: the beach was cleaned daily and was nice except that you can't walk out into it. There are barricades to stop the waves and if you like to float out this isn't the beach for you. Review pictures of the beach into the water. The staff were all amazing and the grounds are well kept. I would return to this resort but the beach isn't for me. Shout out to all the fabulous staff!

Excellent Service
The service was exceptional. All of the restaurants have such confident staff and make sure everything is just right. I had two exceptional butlers one was Luis and the other was Abraham. They went way above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. Get everything that I needed. They helped me in every way they could possibly. next time I am back I hope to have the same butlers.

Beautiful property but lacks in many other areas.
Background: We have stayed in several resorts and go to this area yearly. I really try not to be overly nitpicky, and I for sure don't think our standards are overly high or needy. Grounds: The grounds are gorgeous, and I like the overall layout of the resort. It was relatively easy to navigate even for a larger resort complex. They do have golf carts to transport you, but those were a blessing and a curse. They weren't always easy or convenient to get one, and it seemed like if you were walking, you had to constantly dodge them on the narrow paths. We did have a couple of great drivers, Gonzo, and Freddy were awesome. Never got to see the crocodile, but a couple we traveled with got to. Also, Pedro at check-in was a pleasure to work with super nice and helpful. Room: Our room was very nice, the beds were a little soft for my taste but my wife and child liked them just fine. Always kept clean and stocked by friendly cleaning staff. We upgraded to building 16, which is right in front of the activity pool. We had a great view from there. It could get a little loud with the music they played at times, but I wouldn't say it was bothersome. Had I realized our original building, #18, was as close to the pool as it was, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the upgrade. Restaurants: For dinners, we at the Marina, the Italian, Mediterranean, Tepanyaki, and "Akat" Restaurants. The food was good, not great, but it did the job. The beef filet could always be counted on except for when we had it at the Marina restaurant. It seemed like an entirely different cut of meat that night and wasn't as good. Jesse at the Italian restaurant was absolutely awesome. For lunches, we went to "Delores" food court. It's essentially a buffet set up to look like a food court. They did have some tasty choices every day, probably a little something for everyone. My wife liked the attached coffee shop there. For breakfast, we at the main buffet or at the buffet located in the Italian restaurant. It was just fine, nothing spectacular, but again, it got the job done. I do wish they had a lunch option (burgers, etc.) at the pool like many other resorts. Room service was super fast compared to other places we've stayed, and it was pretty good on the couple occasions we used it. Taco Festival at Delores was outstanding and had great entertainment. As a whole, I've had better food at other resorts. Pools: Definitely not heated while we were there. The weather was rainy, cloudy, and cool and made swimming uncomfortable and, at times, unbearable. There is one smallish hot tub at Marina side that was typically full, but if you go across the street to the "Ha" side, they have two MUCH larger jacuzzi pools that were perfect Marcos, the server at the swim up bar at Marina side was great. Bars: The best of the bunch was Santos at the lobby bar. He worked hard and was completely understaffed. Santos was making drinks, washing cups, and being incredibly helpful and friendly, and the bar was packed. I really felt bad for him in how poorly the resort staffed the bar. Other than Marcos, Mario at Akat, and Santos, I don't think I could name another bartender who put themselves out there. That is a first for our group. Normally, we end up getting to know several staff members because we're talkers. Staff: They were friendly enough, never rude, but for the large majority, they just didn't seem to really care that much if guests were there or not. Definitely not as attentive as other places we have stayed. Entertainment: Severe lack of general entertainment throughout the day. We all noticed how many people would literally sit around playing cards to keep themselves entertained. We did catch some bands at night that were fantastic in the lobby, but then they would follow that up the next night with someone playing the harp (Not Harmonica. That would have been cool). If you're looking for entertainment that is not directed at little kids (Below 10 years old), this is probably not your place. We tried to watch the College Football National Championship while there, and they seemed like they had no idea what we were talking about. Again, other places we have stayed would have made a big deal out of this game and the NFL playoff game that was played while we stayed here. The fact that it was cold a rainy most days was obviously out of the control of the resort, but they didn't offer anything to help keep people entertained during these times. Beaches: Not good but clean. Some may like the walls that limit the tides, but I think they take away from the beauty, and we like the waves All together, I rated this resort a 3 based on the fact that most of the things that we typically enjoy (Food quality, staff attentiveness, entertainment, quality of beach, heated pools) just weren't as good here as they have been at other resorts. If this was my first all-inclusive stay, it may have been a 4 out of 5. I don't believe we'll be back here, but if we did return, it would probably be on the "Ha" side.
