A warm, friendly hotel in the perfect location
When I walked in the door, I was greeted by welcoming, multilingual staff and given a fair price on a room with breakfast included. The hotel is a block away from Plaza Inter and the Nicabus terminal, which makes for an excellent transit hub. There is a comedor across the street where we got some delicious, cheap food and taxis are always driving by, which makes it very easy to pick one up from the lobby at night. We had a spread of gallopinto, coffee and toast for breakfast while chatting with fellow travelers and the WiFi was free and fast. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and stay again.

First trip to Nicaragua, not the best hotel choice
We didn't love our stay at this hotel. Our room was on the street and there was a lot of background noise. We had a hard time sleeping because of the noise and because we didn't feel overly safe in the room. The door to our room didn't have the best lock, and when the people in the room next to us would open their door, our door would shake like it was about to open. There was a crack between the door and the wall too, so that the door didn't seem all the way closed. When the people in the room next to us got in at 3am, we woke up as it seemed like they were trying to get into our room when they were opening their door. The staff were nice, but I don't know that we would stay here again. Our room was $40 USD, so not a bad price, but I would rather pay a little more and be in a more secure environment.

Good, safe jumping point.
Don't let the appearance of this old building put you off. I admit that it's not the Ritz, but although it is older and a bit run down, it is clean and safe. If you are arriving at midnight from Guatemala City or San Salvador by King Quality bus, this is your best option to spend the night as it is located no more than 100 yards (100 metres) away from the bus station. The staff is extremely helpful and warm. We asked them by email to have someone meet us at the bus station to guide us back to the hotel and they had a KQ employee waiting there for us, who even helped us carry our luggage back to the hotel. Coming into Managua in the middle of the night can be quite intimidating, so this was everything we had hoped for. It was US$40 for the night which included breakfast. The only downside is the cold showers, but that's not uncommon in the tropics.
