We visited the hotel for the first time since before COVID and had an excellent stay, the hotel was once again excellent, staff very friendly and helpful as always and the food was excellent. Really liked the fact that it was open dining this time a great improvement and being able to sit at different tables every night was a perfect change, our only disappointment was that the restaurant didn't take cash for drinks at night and we had to reception every night to pay for our drinks, some nights we only had a bottle of water and this is really rather annoying for 2.5 euro's. Might be a good idea to bring back cash as not everyone feels comfortable running up a bill for a week or 2 weeks holiday. A special mention must go to Xavi on reception, he was very helpful anytime we asked him anything and always had a smile on his face.

Our first time to both Nerja and the RIU Monica and we shall return. The hotel exceeded expectations and the staff,. without exception, were helpful, observant and efficient as well as welcoming and friendly. All areas were spotless and well kept and we couldn't fault housekeeping in our lovely room on the 7th floor which had been a hopeful pre-arrival request - thank you so much! The restaurant can be a bit on the noisy side but we mostly dined outside which was a lovely experience, overlooking the sea and watching the amazing evening coloured skies. Ample choice of food and different fish each day. We stuck to the house wine and it was absolutely fine. All drinks and food in the snack bar are reasonably priced. Couldn’t understand why more guests didn’t dine outside but meant there was always a table, and sone near o/s heaters if you need them - we didn’t. We also enjoyed a pre dinner gin in the open- air inner courtyard, lovely little comfy area. The outside areas around the pool and gardens were lovely too and also well kept and maintained by a dedicated team. Entertainment was fine, some was very good and my only gripe would be several acts singing the same songs. Everyone works so hard and we had a lovely holiday.

Excellent Hotel
Great hotel in great location. All the staff was super friendly. Food in the restaurant was superb, will definitely return later on in the year.

Mixed feelings this time round
Mixed feelings this time round. Positives Hotel immaculate. Large rooms and decent size balconies. Staff pleasant. Facilities very good although too cold to swim in outdoor pool. Indoor pool quite chilly. Alcohol prices very reasonable. On the whole, food was good and plentiful. Great position, close to all amenities. Minor negatives: 4 star hotel should not charge for an in room safe. Housekeeping did not come until afternoon most days. Asked for 4 sachets of creamer on one occasion and told only 2 per room per day were allowed!!! Main restaurant tables only a few inches apart so no privacy. More like a canteen and always very busy. Felt quite rushed with waiters clearing plates as soon as one person was finished. Should wait until each person is finished. When ordering drinks in dining room, a receipt was given but no price against purchases so more difficult to keep a tally of spend.

Marvellous Monica
Great staff, food & service - nothing is too much trouble for the fabulous RIU Monica Team. An excellent value for money & highly enjoyable holiday - Thank You !
