fantastic experience
Everything about the place was excellent. The staff was super in every way. Everything nice and clean and so comfortable. Great chaises at the beach and the room towels were super comfy and luxurious. Food and drinks excellent. Truly everything about the place was fantastic. Wouldn't think to stay anywhere else next time we're visiting Aruba.

So loud
Love the hotel but do not come here if you want to sleep at night. Bars stay open until 1am blasting music. Can hear neighbors using the restroom and vomiting at night. During the day it’s a great hotel. If you hope to go to bed at night, forget about it.

Best Hotel on the island
When we come to Aruba, we have certain standards and expect a lot from this beautiful island that we have come to know and love. Many trips and years coming have made us “experts” on this topic. The Hyatt provides that the elevated experience. From the immaculate grounds, to the spacious rooms (appointed with the best towels / showers), it is all wonderful and a delight to visit. We had to extend our stay because the original amount of time just wasn’t enough - Dayger Cruz was super helpful and accommodating. With a simple WhatsApp message, they took care of the changes. We didn’t even have to lift a finger or spend our precious time making the changes. Yolanda at the spa is great, as is Kilry at the club lounge. All wonderful staff members!! Everything is seamless and everyone is made for the hospitality industry. Aruba is heaven on earth and the Hyatt is a great way to check in to that heaven. 10/10 would come back to this resort.

Solid pick on Palm Beach
Considering it was the busy President's Day and Valentine's day weekend, my friends and I were lucky to have been upgraded to a Resort and Ocean View room from our original standard room with no view. Here is my critique. POSITIVES - Perfect location: The Hyatt is located on Palm beach, which is considered one of the best locations on Aruba. Not only are there long stretches of powdery white sand that are great for walking next to the sea, but it's also close to many restaurants, clubs, bars, and shops. Most of the hotels on Palm Beach are open to the public, so tourists can get a feel for the different personalities of each resort (e.g. the Hilton, the Riu, the St. Regis). It's a 20-minute / $30 taxi ride from the airport. - Many "free" resort activities: I put the word "free" in quotes because technically a guest's resort fee helps to pay for the activities offered. Since I paid with points, our resort fees were waived. My guests and I enjoyed the aloe scrub making class with Tim and the ceviche cooking course. There were also other organized activities that would appeal to all types of guests, such as pilates and yoga classes, waterslide races, mixology classes, scavenger hunts. - Globalist benefits: In addition to the room upgrade and free bottled water everyday, the Hyatt gave me a voucher good for 4 premium drinks at any of the bars on-property. My guests and I each enjoyed one of their $28 cocktails, including my smoking apple old-fashioned. I also was glad to have access to the on-site Regency Club, which provided a filling breakfast and espresso-machine coffees in the morning and heavy appetizers and wine/beer in the evening. The free food in the club was enough to feed us for 2 of the 3 meals each day. Plus it had an outdoor patio where I could enjoy views of the Caribbean while catching up with work on my iPad. - Instead of having to get up at the crack of dawn to claim chairs and an umbrella on the beach or by the pool, the Hyatt has a way for guests to reserve these ahead of time on their website link hyattbeachservices.com, as early as 4 months before arrival. If you want a more luxurious cabana at the pool, it will cost $450. I HIGHLY recommend that anyone making a reservation at this resort try to reserve a complimentary pool or beach umbrella ASAP before arrival. If you don't show up to claim your umbrella and chairs by 11AM on the day of your reservation, the staff will release them to allow other guests to enjoy them. - Separate pools for adults and families: Families can enjoy volleyball, bingo, a waterslide, the hot tub, and the swim-up bar at the Activity Pool. Those who want a quieter atmosphere can enjoy a cocktail while lounging the adult (Trankilo) pool. - Tennis / pickleball courts and free tennis clinics: As an avid tennis player, I was pleased to find out there was a tennis club at the Hyatt and that the 1-hour adult tennis clinics are free of charge on Tuesday and Thursdays. I also took a private lesson one morning and would have tried to play pickleball if I had more time on the island. The spa provides equipment for those who don't want to haul a racquet or paddle to Aruba. - Kids-friendly offerings: Camp Watapana is the on-site camp available (for a fee) for young guests ages 4-12 years, offering activities like swimming, sandcastle building, wildlife ambassador tours, and scavenger hunts. Kids and adult guests alike can also be entertained by the outdoor games outside the Kids Club, like giant Connect 4, giant chess, cornhole, and table tennis. - Casino: I'm not a gambler, but I will typically spend $20-$40 for the sheer entertainment value that playing electronic blackjack or a table of roulette can provide. Unlike many other casinos I've visited around the world, this one does NOT reek of smoke. Plus, the live bands that entertain its guests actually sound pretty good. Free classes on blackjack and roulette are offered for those who want to learn how to lose their money quickly. - Nespresso Vertuo and hot pot in the room: I'm a big coffee and tea drinker, so having access to quality caffeine sources right next to my bed was a big plus. - Watersports company on-site: Red Sail Sports is a Caribbean chain that offers everything from snorkeling, sunset cruises, and PADI scuba diving courses right on the resort. This was really convenient since my friend wanted to do an Intro to scuba course while I did a scuba refresher class alongside her in the Hyatt pool. The Red Sail Sports catamarans launched from a dock right on the Hyatt's beach, making it easy for us to do an open water wreck dive after the scuba drills in the pool. I was even able to sweet talk the Red Sail Sports agent (Maria) to give all 4 of us 10% off a sunset cruise as a Valentine's Day special. - First-rate friendly staff: One of the strongest attributes of this hotel was its amiable staff who seem genuinely interested in interacting with the guests. Rowen (a Filipina) and Jacqueline (from the Netherlands) were the attendants in the Club Lounge. Both of them cheerily greeted me and my guests, asking about such things as how my tennis clinic went that morning or if I had to work remotely that day. Rowen even helped research some of the off-site activities we wanted to book, calling tour operators on our behalf to find availability. Everyday I enjoyed chatting in the lobby with Fany from Venezuela, who served free champagne to all guests checking-in. The bell captain Roderick was especially kind when I asked for his help in dispatching a taxi to pick-up one of my friends from a location off the resort since she didn't have a cell signal to call a taxi herself. NEGATIVES - Spa: Even though the Zoia Spa at the Hyatt offers an extensive menu of spa and salon treatments, the prices were inflated, as to be expected at a resort. My 1-hour relaxation massage was rather forgettable and set me back $261 (inclusive of tax and tip). There is a sauna in the spa locker room, but that's about it. There were no disposable combs / brushes / razors or other items that are typically available in more upscale resort spas. - Sterile boring rooms: For over $1000/night, I expected a resort like this to provide amenities like robes and slippers. It looked like a clone of the room I had last year at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells, and lacked the native Aruban charm that the decorators at the Renaissance Aruba brought to their guest rooms. - Loud entertainment at night: I really enjoyed listening to the bands performing at the Hyatt's outdoor bars early in the evening. However, there was one night when I went to sleep early (i.e. 10 PM) but could still hear the music and guests' voices loud and clear in my room until 11:00PM. I can't imagine what a nightmare that would be for any parents who would be trying to put younger kids to sleep. - No Peloton bike in the gym. Some of you may have read my post about how you can earn 500 Hyatt points by doing a Peloton work-out at participating Hyatt gyms. Sadly, there was no Peloton at this place to keep me in shape. I'm grateful that one of guests is a certified personal trainer and coached me through a grueling but great workout one morning using the gym's equipment. If I had to choose between returning to this hotel versus the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba, I'd have to say that I'd book the Hyatt again. Even though the Renaissance has access to the unforgettable Flamingo Beach, the convenience of the Hyatt's Palm Beach location, its multitude of free activities for guests, and the friendly staff are what make this resort the winner in my book.
