Family Vacation 2025
The drinks here were amazing!! Very strong, but very good! I tried the pistachio martini and it was to die for! The buffets are my favorite place they have so many options! The entertainment is awesome! I met Alexis and Julian, and everyone there was so happy, fun, attentive to our needs, we met Alexei at karaoke, saw him the next day and he remembered us! That just shows how welcome everyone is to the resort! I will definitely be back!

Resort is NOT the same. It's going downhill unfortunately
Not sure where to start except it is NOT the same as before. We have visited this resort before a few times. We thought we knew what to expect in terms of food and housekeeping however it was NOT the same. Food has been downgraded from 2024 and it was very often lukewarm and cold when it should have been hot. This was the first time my stomach got upset at this resort and no it was NOT a virus. When the food temperature is cold and it is supposed to be kept warm since it is a meat dish I am sure this contributed to my stomach issues. I will break down my review in different categories. Service: Very good in buffet restaurants in regards to plate clearing and beverage dispensing. Bad in housekeeping. Sometimes no extra toilet paper left. Sometimes missing towels. Soap not refilled. Tissues not replaced. Constant calls to reception to get items. We tipped daily this did not help. It’s very irritating when you are on vacation and you have to call daily and wait for the people to arrive to bring items that should be in your room. Food: In 2024 I would have rated the food an 8 to a 9 out of 10. This year it was maybe a 6 out of 10. Choices were limited except for Gala night which had everything. Maya buffet was a bit better with more selection of fruits and sometimes meat. Guacamole was awful at Lindo! It looked like it was canned guacamole. Guacamole looked better at Beach/Delmar and they pay less. Food was often cold. So much food was wasted on our plates because frankly it didn’t taste good. Maybe they should instead buy better meat and the waste would be less. Meat was dry and tasteless. Other times meat and fish were undercooked and it was visible that you could see the raw middle. It was a meh for me and the rest of my family. Under the sea was horrible! Mexican restaurant not good. Japanese was the only one that was very good. They need more healthy choices at beach snack bar. The burgers are not good and the food there is even worse than buffet. Property and grounds: Beautiful and pristine. Cannot complain. Beach: Beautiful with some rocky areas. Some seaweed but not anything crazy. Constant vendors and resort personnel harassing you every couple of minutes. It was exhausting again saying No! Chair game: Was atrocious. People would reserve chairs for hours and never return or reserve double the chairs they needed in different areas! Security was good and tried to deal with this but as a patron I shouldn’t have to explain to someone why I was sitting in a chair they had reserved hours before. This created conflicts with the guests. Like I said before we have visited this resort in the past however the cons are starting to outweigh the pros. For example, a con for us was the whole Eco resort vibe. Eco conscious that the water pressure was non-existent, no straws anywhere, sensors would shut down the room entirely when anyone would leave the room and someone else was sleeping. E.g. Someone leaves the room to get a coffee early in the morning. Within 10 minutes the air conditioning, the power, all the lights go out. Any devices charging stop charging. Ceiling fan shuts down etc. It literally wakes the entire room up. Coati were everywhere and getting aggressive with food on the beach. Staff would not stop people from feeding the coati. Signs were posted but this wasn’t enough. They should consider relocating them or neutering them. Activities by the pool were fun. The second party at night during the week by the wave pool had the worst music I have ever heard in my entire life. Not one real authentic song but all rave/remixes. Come on Iberostar this is a family resort. We want the real versions of songs that we can dance and sing to! The only people dancing were the entertainment crew. Tiles by the pool were very slippery. Star Café was delicious but they need more personnel to deal with the crowds. For anyone up early or leaving the resort for an early flight, they need to do a continental at the Lindo/Maya. The Delmar/Beach resort is too hot and a downgrade to go to early in the morning. Did we have a nice time sure. Was everything perfect? Far from it. Was it exhausting at times dealing with shortages in room ABSOLUTELY. Would we return, not sure. Rooms are dated. Washroom is dark and hard to do your makeup in. Beds are double size when they should be Queens. I think it’s becoming overpriced for what you get. I believe they are gearing their resort towards the very young who don’t care about what they eat. They seem to spend most of their money on Starcamp, waterslides and kids things.

Alexei Is The Greatest
Alexei noticed our group on the first day and has recalled our names for over 5 days. He has not only saught us out while on our vacation, but has also stayed with us for over an hour to entertain us while we waited for dinner (multiple times). He is relatable, funny, and very entertaining for your trip! My mom was sick for one day, and he noticed she was absent for dinner and referenced her by name and asked why she was gone. He showed compassion for her absence, and remained with our family to continue talking with us while she was absent. He is one of, if not, the most entertaining and relatable employee at the Iberostar resort! He convinced us to go to events we wouldn't normally attend, and kept us engaged on our vacation. My family and I are truly thankful to have met him so early on our vacation and have him push us to attend events we normally would not have attended! It truly enhanced our stay.

Average Resort-Will not return
This resort was great for my 10 and 13 year old, but was solidly average for my husband and I. Pros: -Entertainment team did a very nice job during the day at the pool to interact with the crowd. My children were not interested in the children’s club but it looked like they were very active and enjoyed by all. -Housekeeping arrived every day and was thorough. -There were many water stations filling stations available. -My son got stung by a jellyfish and the lifeguard was very reactive-spraying him with vinegar. He was able to enjoy the day again quickly after the incident. -The pool is massive and there was never an issue finding a spot either at the pool-basically because if I saw a spot that was held by a towel only-I removed it and we sat down. Lots of saving spots at the beach and the pool and people only using one spot. No one ever said anything to us because they knew they were wrong. Cons: -The food was terrible. My children loved the unlimited deserts and found the assortment of food appealing, but it says something when the buffet food is better than the restaurant food. -The coatis are everywhere. They steal off of chairs and plates and are a major nuisance once the cuteness wears off. -The water was very rough while we were there-waves that knocked us off our feet the entire time. While this isn’t a resort issue, it’s the area of the beach issue. -We were constantly hassled on the resort and at the beach to buy things, sign up for lessons, do the spa, etc. It was exhausting. -The fire alarm went off constantly during our stay due to the humidity. -The building we were in was next to the theater and there was no sleeping until at least 12:30 every night due to the constant thumping and music. -We had to request towels and toilet paper multiple times during the week despite having housekeeping each day. -Drinks were typical watered down all inclusive drinks. You have to ask for specific alcohol to receive anything but rail. Their soda water tastes like sewage. -Watch even your great swimmers in the foam party-they can be taken under the mass of people quickly. Was it a decent AI for our kid’s first experience with one? Sure. But we would never take them back.

Serious Allergy Warning – Iberostar is NOT Safe for Those with Allergies
If you or a loved one has a severe food allergy, I strongly urge you to reconsider staying at an Iberostar resort. Based on our experience at Iberostar Paraiso Lindo, it is clear that they do not take food safety seriously, and their medical facilities are dangerously unprepared to handle allergic reactions. On our first full day at the resort, my son, who has a severe nut allergy (which was noted in the hotel system), suffered a life-threatening anaphylactic reaction after unknowingly consuming peanuts hidden at the bottom of a snack bowl provided during an evening show. Despite our efforts to manage the reaction with his EpiPen, we had to rush him to the resort’s medical center—only to discover that they had no antihistamines or epinephrine on-site. With the resort pharmacy closed, we had no choice but to administer his second (and last) EpiPen while waiting for an ambulance. My son was taken to a hospital in Playa del Carmen, where he finally received the medication he needed. The hospital visit cost us $5,000 out of pocket, and our son spent the rest of our vacation recovering, unable to fully enjoy his time due to the medication he was put on. Despite the resort’s negligence in food safety and the complete lack of emergency medical preparedness, Iberostar’s compensation amounted to a late check-out and a $50 refund for the event where my son had his reaction. No further efforts were made to make things right. This experience was terrifying and unacceptable. For a resort that caters to international guests, failing to properly label food and refusing to keep essential life-saving medications on hand is beyond irresponsible. If you or your loved ones have serious allergies, do not stay at Iberostar. The risk is simply too high.
