Average at best but clean and safe.
Family of 7 with kids ages 9 & 12 and three 20 yr olds Check in was easy and fast as we pre-checked in a day before we got there on the app. Rooms- Clean but older, seemed damp and no water pressure in shower. They are double beds at best and not super comfortable. AC worked fine Food- Was good. Nothing fancy. 4 restaurants and 2 buffets but the food seems all the same. They have a cafe with special coffees and some treats that were good. Pool- Main pool was fun and they had activities for all ages and a couple shows at 3pm that were cute but an off off off off off off off Broadway version. Lots of chairs for everyone but if you want to sun in the morning you best get up early as the professional sun bathers have them saved way before breakfast. Drinks- Good, very same old same old all inclusive drinks and if you get the couple guys who don’t understand English your drinks are a guessing game. Some awesome but some not for the taking lol. Staff- nice and sweet but if you don’t tip they don’t seem to accommodate or even try and see you standing there. Entertainment- ok but once again 7 blocks off Broadway. Star Camp (kids camp)- Our 9 yr old had a great time. They have lots of things to do, crafts and water activities. I felt safe leaving her there and you can sign them in and out for whatever station they are doing. Ocean- Insanity rough and not to swim in if your a beginner. It’s on a public beach so you have the people peddling their wares but when we said no thank you, they just kept walking. We won’t be back but if you want a safe nice mid sized all inclusive then the Ibrostar selections plata mita works great.

Excellent Resort
We have just returned from our visit at the Iberostar Playa Mita, and had a fantastic time!! We have been to MANY resorts and the Iberostar stands out as one of the best. It had all the things we look for when booking a resort - unlimited al a cartes with no reservations (except Japanese which was not an issue booking), unlimited towels, and plenty of seats around the pool and by the ocean. There were no towel games, and we never had an issue finding a chair with or without shade. On the beach the guys would set up our chairs and umbrellas everyday. The food was great so we always had lots to eat. We especially liked the French Onion Soup and Salmon in the French restaurant and the pizzeria (in the disco area). The buffet was great too with a different theme each night. We even had lobster and prawns one night! The resort and rooms were very clean and well maintained, and the one issue we had with the room was dealt with promptly. We would like to especially thank Candelario in Reception for getting us the exact rooms we asked for which made our stay much more relaxing. We would also like to recognize the 2 best bartenders, Jose at the Sunset Bar, and Adrian at the pool bar - they made the best drinks and always knew exactly what we wanted. We would also like to thank Orlando at the French Restaurant for his great service. The only suggestion we would have would be is to add more English channels on the tv. Thank you to everyone at the resort, we had an excellent stay and can’t wait to go back.

Great trip - would go back
Resort is nice, laid back, great service everywhere, we had no issues, our favorite was Jose at the roof top bar, we loved getting to know him, our husbands spent a lot of time there with him and he took great care of them...we made a great friend!! Beautiful views of ocean and mountains! Beach was nice for walking, a few rocks but not bad at all. The grounds were beautiful! We had rooms on the lower deck that walked out to a patio that was right by the beach, room were nice, could use an update but were fine, bed was comfortable. Saw whales right from the resort, they were very active a few days which was awesome to watch!! Lots of activities if that is what you want to do or you can just sit back and relax. No problem getting chairs any days by the pool and we had perfect weather! Food was good for us, we are not foodies. There are 2 small towns near the resort Punta Mita (very small) and Sayulita, we loved this town!! lots of shopping if that's what you like otherwise lots of places to sit and relax, have a drink and something to eat, can also grab a spot on the beach somewhere and watch surfers.

Star Kids Camp was GRE
Liz at Concierge was extremely helpful for organizing our transportation and answering questions. Our daughter loved the Star Kids Camp. They had a variety of activities and took good care of our neurodivergent child. Yazmin was especially helpful. Overall the food was good, lots of variety. We especially enjoyed the Pacific Express. I also used the spa services and had a much needed relaxing massage. We would come back again for another holiday!

Not a 4.5 star resort
This is not a 4.5 star resort. Closer to 3.5. When I read some of the other reviews I honest feel they did not stay at this resort. To be clear this was the Iberostar Playa Mita. Rooms are in desperate need of TLC and a proper cleaning. When we arrived, there was dirt/hair around the perimeter of the room. The air duct vent looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. Bathroom fan not working. Balcony was dirty. We were there for a week and we did not see the common areas swept or washed. For example, there was dirt and drink stains in the stairwells when we arrived. Still there when we checked out. Food was okay. Nothing special. The pool area was nice. But again needs some TLC. Tiles were falling off pool. Cracks in concrete and faded paint. Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful. This was our first stay at an Iberostar resort and I would not stay at an Iberostar again.
