Love this resort. Second time here. Everyone on staff is so friendly. Beautiful pool.and environment. Food is good. Love the pool games. Great servers at the buffet including Arturo and Amanda. We love the atmosphere and will come again next year.

A lovely family/couples resort
Jan 27th - Feb 3rd Came here with my family for a week. I'm still here but I got the jist of things pretty quick. This resort is mostly catered to families and couples. Pros : Not too far from the main strip and the airport. The cafe is pretty good, lots of different deserts and sandwiches, I've been enjoying the vanilla lattes. The property is maintained pretty well, lots of activities for everyone and they have star camp which is a kids day care centre. Food is good, lots of variety and options depending on your dietary requirements. Lots of bars everywhere including a swim up bar by the main pool. Beautiful beach with nice soft sand. The night time shows have been good, different every night and they also have a kids show also. Service overall is okay, I'm my opinion it needs to be a bit better. I've been here since Monday and today my evening waiter Jose Arturo provided excellent service and was very attentitive. I even told him that I've been here for a couple of days and he has provided the best service, top notch. Cons: -The rooms are outdated, needs some renovation to meet the 5 star standard in my opinion. - Room key card reader was malfunctioning. After a few tries it works, very annoying. -Not the greatest night life overall. You just have a sports bar that opens at 10:30pm - the ac unit is loud and turns on randomly 🤔 Overall I would rate this resort a 8.5/10 and would recommend to families and couples. I would also return in the future. Hopefully by then they fix some of those issues I've mentioned.

When we arrived as a family we had booked two balcony rooms with sea views and we’re immediately told that the hotel was full and we would only get one room with sea view and another room on another floor . As you can imagine we were not happy but the front desk staff didn’t really care they said we will move you tomorrow if there is availability. We went back the next day to be told that they could move my daughters to another room but it would not be on the same floor as us , again the staff were rude and unhelpful . This wasn’t really the best start to our holiday considering we had traveled from Ireland not exactly a short flight . I was actually quite disappointed with the hotel in general , the food was ok , the entertainment was very average . On checking out if the hotel we were presented with a bill for a show that we had went to called ‘Rocktails ‘ which has live band and through the intervals selected members are asked up to make cocktails . In general not a bad night but be mindful you are actually charged for this which you will not be told , you are asked to sign a slip which books you in as a guest but apparently on the small print you are agreeing to a payment charge which we would not have minded if we had have known . At no time did anyone tell us this and two of my daughters on several occasions asked various members of staff if there was charge . On checking out we were presented with the bill to which i obviously queried , the front desk again sent for security and said i would not be leaving the hotel until this was settled in fact he said “I don’t care if you miss your flight”. We were completely gobsmacked and couldn’t believe what we were hearing . Just to reiterate we travel extensively and have been fortunate to travel and experience many good hotels over the years and have never been treated in this manner . I will also state that i don’t ever write reviews because i know in these days it is to easy for people to complain unnecessarily but i did feel strongly enough to state some of the events that happened us as a family . I believe there are too many good hotels in Mexico and i certainly wouldn’t be recommending this one as a first choice . I will note that one very helpful member of staff called Fremin did go above and beyond to try and rectify some of the bad practice of the other staff . I will also point out that the bar staff and waiters were very good it the front desk that could do with a course in customer care .

Cancun Fun in the sun
We had a great stay at Iberostar Cancun. We were part of a wedding group (wedding was off site, not part of resort). We enjoyed our cabana for pool time. We didn’t try too many of the restaurants but I want to highlight, Santiago who worked during the breaks fast buffet service. He had excellent service and always made sure I had a cappuccino in the morning. We also really liked the little food truck trailer set up near the pool/beach area. I loved the quesadillas. Watch out for the birds. They will come after you and your left overs. The access to the beach is really nice but proceed with caution in the water. The current was very strong even if you’re only a few steps into the water. Very beautiful blue waters to enjoy.

For a Selection hotel this did not compare to other Iberostar hotels including waves hotels. The hotel needs so many repairs, outlets in rooms, broken water dispensers, leaking showers, rattling doors to patio, the pool bar roof falling apart, part of pool bar you can’t even use, room numbers on doors falling off or not there at all. The staff was not friendly even though it seemed we tipped everyone we encountered. The pool bartender was rude, would often just ignore people, no eye contact. Waiters were unfriendly and just trying to rush everyone through. We waiting a long time to be greeting at our table for buffet just to get water or coffee, again I wonder why your staff seems rude and unhappy? Bad management?We paid for a pool bed but all day people would just use the bed next to ours for free, so why pay? This was very disappointing because all the other Iberostar resorts are excellent, I would not spend more money to stay at this Selection resort, there were no upgrades in my opinion. The food was excellent though, shows were meh.., location is amazing.
