Our not so wonderful stay at this Whydham resort.
We bought a Discovery Package from Whydham Resorts almost 2 years ago. After only a short time, we realized we had been lied to- over and over and over. Just a side note- we have owned a time share for 31 years and been very happy, so we are not in the time share hating crowd. We were told that units were put aside for Discovery Package owners, so we wouldn't have trouble booking at popular times of the year. That was not true. We had 2 years to use the Package and were never able to book at any location we really wanted to go when we wanted to go there, so we finally settled on this resort for 13 days, using all of our points. This is not a luxury resort. Now they want us to attend a 90 minute presentation almost an.hour away at the only luxury resort Whydham owns on Kauai. We were not even given a partial cleaning mid stay. We booked for 13 days, so I don't think asking for the bathroom to be cleaned and the bed sheets changed was too much to ask. We were refused. No one from Whydham Co. called us until we had been here a week to offer help booking activities, and they demanded we rearrange our schedule to attend this 90 minute presentation because it's " in our contract ". Had the concierge from the other side of the island called closer to our arrival date, we wouldn't have been so booked up. It's going to be a very cold. 90 minute meeting regardless of the temperature in the room. There is no concierge here, and the little activities that are posted on the TV screen in the office keep getting canceled. No ice cream sundaes, no little gatherings - just" we're trying to work something out". I asked several times before we came, about handicapped parking. No one ever replied. There is one handicapped parking.spot neat our unit, and someone else is always parked there. There is one small pool and a hot tub only big enough for 4 adults on this property. We are allowed to use the pools and hottub at the property next store- much nicer than here- but my husband can't walk that far and we aren't allowed to park there. Gee, thanks, Whydham, for the help and making sure we were taken care of. I won't sit on the furniture in the living room without putting a towel over it- it's filthy. I ended up changing the bed sheets myself, and no one has come to pick up the dirty ones we were told to leave outside in the garbage bag. We paid $4,000.00 for this? Please note, the 3 buildings with an ocean view were flooded out by a storm some time ago. You can still see the sand bags, the fencing and the " danger, restricted are" signs. Don't count on any ocean view here. It doesn't appear any repairs are underway, and this damage did not occur recently. So- these are the Kauai Beach Villas owned by Whydham. Right next to the much nicer and well maintained Outrigger Villas.

Beautiful, but run down and dirty
The staff was amazing, but the place is so old and dirty. All our doors were broken, the air broken, the toilet broken, and the floors and furniture were filthy. The redeeming factor was the use of the pool at the property adjacent. It was way overpriced for what you get.

Great location but interior desperatly need updating
So very outdated and run down. The pool was so small, yet others in the buildings were told they could use the resort next door's pool. I had specific needs due to mold. I wrote and called two months in advance. I had been assured I would get a top floor or close to the ocean. When we arrived our room was on the bottom floor the furthest away from the ocean. When I asked to be up high and reminded them of the 5+ communications we had had over the last 2 months, with the last communication the day before, they put us in the same building on the top floor room with the yellow and orange carpet that was so old it was damp most of the time. We made it work but almost left for another resort. The staff was pleasant and the grounds well kept but the interior desperately needed attention.

Resort in desperate need of a makeover
We flew direct from Australia (via HNL). We arrived at the resort (after rental car pick up) approx. 1pm. We knew we wouldn’t be able to check in but went and spoke to reception. They said to come back in a ‘couple of hours’. We went to a shopping centre and got some food and groceries and explored shops. We arrived back at 4.30pm. Most reports have checkin at 2/3pm so we thought we would have no issues. The reception stated the room still wasn’t ready. By this time I suggested that this was not good enough and a room had best become available. We had to wait another 10 mins. We were finally able to check in at 445. When we found our room - it was a nice enough size with 2 bathrooms and a big bedroom (and sofa bed) and kitchen and balcony. But the rooms and resort are in desperate need of renovation. It just feels so dated and tired. The water pressure is terrible and if 2 of you are showering there is no hot water. You are able to utilise the outrigger resort pool and restaurant. (Luckily). Wyndham Resorts own the property. They really need to put this one at the top of their list for properties to renovate.
