    Great hotel and location

This is a small hotel with a kitchenette and small patios. The people and service were fantastic. Our rooms contained everything that we needed to enjoy Mazatlan. It is located across from some great restaurants - Ponchos, La Catrina, and more. There is an OXXO 2 minutes away as well a a fantastic Spas across the street. It is right on the beach and the beach was perfect for looking for shells and wading. We had a great vacation and loved this hotel.Be aware that they do not have a snack vendor or a huge entrance with attendants. They also do not have a gym. They do have a beautiful pool and when we went there were lots of available chairs. That may vary according to how busy it is. We did not go all inclusive because we like to go out and experience different restaurants which are excellent. Don't be fooled by the media saying Mazatlan is dangerous... it's no more dangerous than Canada or the USA. If you go looking for trouble you will find it anywhere you go on vacations. We had an excellent time at the hotel and can't thank the staff enough for making this an excellent vacation for the 4 of us. Special thanks to the door man who was just fantastic and helpful!

A week in Mazatlan at Luna Palace

Decided to go for a quick get away to just relax. Just a 7 day holiday. We love Mexico and had not been to Mazatlan since the 80's. We are a couple in our 60's, fit, not partiers. This is a great location with restaurants, convenience stores, gift stores and pharmacies nearby. The hotel and all the staff were lovely. Shout out to Eduardo at the front desk who checked us in and Noemi who cleaned our room. The gal at the gate always waved and said "hola". The grounds, gardens and building are well kept and lovely. Stairs and elevators whatever you need. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with kitchenette which looks just like the on line pictures. Room 2009, 2nd floor at the bar end of the pool. It had a small deck that had 2 chairs, we were able to fit 4 chairs. We overlooked the pool and the ocean it was a great place to catch sunset views, watch fisherman on the breakwater, or read. An alternative to the pool deck, or beach palapas. The kitchen came with a 2 burner stove top, a microwave/oven combo unit, and a full size fridge with a freezer that worked great. Dishes, cutlery, glasses and mugs, 3 different size pots and a frying pan. A flipper, a knife, and a cutting board. There was a blender, a small coffee pot with a drip filter. 4 cup, you need your own filters, basket type. There was a toaster which we did not use. There were no locks on the cupboard as previous reviews suggested. We brought our own dish soap, curley cate a couple of dish towels and cloths to use for the holiday. Maid did leave us a towel for the kitchen once she saw we were using the kitchen. If you have room in your suitcase bring an ice cube tray. Daily 2 small bottles of water were left. We had breakfast in the room, made smoothies lots of great fruit available. We also did a few lunches. Mexican string cheese, tacos, salsa and jicama. We purchased groceries at the Fresh Mart about a 20 minute walk down the beach or the street toward centro. Across from the El Cid hotel. Fresh Market had a large selection of hard liquor as well. We also purchased groceries at the Pino Suarez market in town. Good selection of fruits veggies, meats and souvenirs. Food court on upper floor. Some food stalls on main floor too. Bus stops out front of the hotel just wave it down marked "Sabalo Centro". About a 25 minute ride to the market. 13 pesos. Ring the bell to disembark. There is a stop right at the market. We purchased a larger water container and beer at the Oxxo on the same side of the street in the next block toward centro as the front desk did not have any for sale. We ended up using about 1.5 of these large bottles for our week there. We did some sightseeing around the market the day we went into town. Saw the Basilica, Plaza Muchado, Painted Houses, Liverpool Street and had lunch in Olas Altas at El Sinaloense. We had ceviche. I had shrimp, hubby had mixed seafood. Filling and good size portions. Service was good. Beautiful view and quiet when we were there. Returned home by bus. Had to walk a ways before we found a spot to pick up the bus. Poolside at hotel around 3:30 each day there was a bingo game kinda noisy. We did not partake but many did. There were ceramics you could paint by the pool. The beach had all the usual action. Banda!, vendors of food, gifts, toys and jewellry. Lounge chairs were somewhat uncomfortable so saw some folks using blow up air matresses to ease the pain. There is a restaurant here and bar by the pool we did not try them. Used the Didi app to catch a ride a couple of times easy and reasonable just paid cash. Walked the beach out front and noticed the red and yellow flag up everyday. Not good for swimming. January is the coldest month and the water is cold! There is also a sign to shuffle into the water because of the stingrays. Pool at the hotel is heated, has a slide and swim up bar. There are palapas and chairs on the beach out front and towels available on the pool deck. Many restaurants near by. The best we tried was Cenduria Chayito, we had tortilla soup, queso fundido for lunch very tasty and filling. Liquados and chilequiles divorciado for breakfast. Also very good. This included a side of tortilla, grilled peppers and cheese. Staff were excellen. Restaurant clean and quiet. We went to Fat Fish for dinner one night and had garlic shrimp. Not very good. Rubbery and cold. Everyone says the ribs are good maybe we should have had that. It was very noisy the night we were there. Live musican playing in front competing with the music playing in the back of the restaurant. At the marina we tried Luka sushi, it was tasty and service good. We had dinner at La Costa Marinera across from Diegos on the beach. Ordered shrimp meal was cold. Precooked veggies, carrot and zuchinni, mushy and cold rice. Maybe an off night. Service was good, place was quiet. We had a pork sub from the Panama bakery in front of the Palms hotel as well as a pineapple empanada. Very tasty. Staff offered to heat the sub. At the Isla Tres mall, where the Fresh market is on the top floor is Tiendas Chata. Had some awesome tamales, we tried pork, corn and picadillo. All very good. We did not try Taco Time right next door to hotel. The pastor with pineapple looked good. Twice we went for tacos on the street just outside the OXXO. Tacos para 2. So good. Very flavourful. Beef asada, lots of toppings had to go that second time! You could eat there or take away. We did not need laundry service but we notice a lavanderia across the street from the hotel. There was a lovely high end gallery called Michael Gallery nearby. Our stay included our transfers to and from hotel. This hotel was part of a Sunwing package, that also included our flights. All in all a good stay. Thanks for the memories.

    In love with the sight

The view from here is great and can’t get better than being a few steps from the beach. The staff here are friendly especially santiago from activities who has fun games (like loteria) throughout the day by the pool. They also have a great buffet with oceanside views. Would come back again and recommend to friends/family!
