Dec 30, 2024The most attentive and friendly staff
We spent 2 1/2 weeks there in October/November and April . We had a wonderful time. The staff is amazing and very hard working trying to make your vacation the best it can be! Erandi in guest experiences made sure that everything we asked for was taken care of immediately. Faustino in the buffet always had our daily beverages on the table waiting for us when we arrived for breakfast. The resort is quiet with an intimate feel to it and meticulously maintained. The lobby is large with indoor and outdoor seating and entertainment every night. The bartenders are superb especially Giovanni! If you want a more party type atmosphere you can take one of the shuttles and in a few minutes you can be in one of the other 3 hotels within Bahia. The whole complex is huge with over 600 acres and 1 1/2 miles of beach. There is so much to do that you never get bored unless you just want to kick back and relax.

We have stayed at all of the hotels in this complex over the years so new the area. We booked this because of the 5 Star rating and adult only. Pros: As with all of these the staff where excellent, cheerful, quick to respond from reception to bar staff. Jungle location meant lots of wildlife, we saw Coatis, Capybara, a Mayan Fox, bird life galore and various spiders, iguana etc. Also the hotel has a colony of bats in the reception roof, a surprise at dusk. Location is 1.5 mile (2.4 km) from the beach but there are regular golf buggies to transport you. It also meant my wife and could get in a nice 3 mile walk to the beach and back before breakfast, made us feel less guilty about the food and drink. Beach bar was great as where all the restaurants, great staff, good food and brand drinks. The shows varied in standard from good to excellent. The cons: Again jungle location, lots of bugs, never been eaten so much despite soaking myself in DEET and taking a portable bug repellent. The humidity was also very high meaning it was impossible to dry anything on return from the beach or pool. Rooms are old looking, very dark and in need of an update. The storage is suitable for short breaks. No drawers, a couple of shelves and limited hanging space, we ended up leaving items in the case. I would recommend taking a torch as for some bizarre reason all of the path lights are switched off at 0630 despite it being dark for another hour. The wifi is free but medieval in speed, there is an option to purchase premium which I thought was poor for a "luxury" hotel. Overall the 5 Star luxury is suited for the food and brand drinks but the rooms, pools etc are more 3-4

Sian Kaan Bahia Mexico , just OK
Hello Folks So we had a group of 9 people , 3 couples , 3 singles , stayed Nov 26 to Dec 6. Most of our time was pretty good , biggest complaint is after spending over $20.000 foe our group , we didn t get A la Cartes. App was useless , never worked till you got on site, by that time , no availability at all. tried squeezing us in at 5pm, way too early , and always wanted to split up the group. Never had a problem taking that group money thou, lol . To give unlimited A la Cartes is fine , but people that go for 2 weeks eat up all the slots before a 1 week trip can get in. Maybe try limiting to 4 or so , as MANY, MANY people all had complaints with this. Buffet was ok, not to bad , lots of repeats from dinner to lunch the following days. Semms the other 3 resorts we went to for buffets never had that problem, just Sian Kaan. hope the manager/kitchen manager hit the food cost goal for bonuses. To say this is a 5 star is silly , maybe reflect on many other reviews on this site , adjust service from there. The highlights which overshadowed the previous paragraphs , were the regular staff, bartenders , maids , waiters , waitresses , etc. Fantastic , very good service from drinks to helping you find pools , bars , etc The golf course was to say the least something of never experienced in my life, gorgeous , prestine , staffing were so professional, hats off to them. Pools were ok , beaches were rocky, but the weather was amazing. Entertainment was one of my favorite things. Silent disco was a huge hit , don t miss it , foam party too. The best thing about the Sian Ka'an is the staff. From the trolley drivers, to the servers, to the entertainment crew, everyone went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Upon arrival, our transfer took forever, so we missed our dinner reservations over at COBA, but the Maiko, as busy as it was, squeezed us in and we really appreciated that. We had this restaurant booked for later in the vacation, so I stopped at Customer Service to talk to Isabel, who went out of her way to help me change it. She even helped me change times of reservations to earlier, as I could only get late reservations through the app. We spent most of our time at the activity pool. I love this pool because it's small, intimate, and a great place to meet other travellers. The entertainment staff were AMAZING. I loved chatting and getting to know them, and I was lucky to win two bottles of tequila playing games. A BIG shout out to Juan, Alexander, Grecia, and Ivan (Pool Entertainment Team), and also to our poolside server Melissa who always had a smile of her face! We enjoyed the restaurants and the lobby bar, and Aremi at Maiko, Sebastian and Antonio Katok, and Manuela, the evening server at the lobby bar were lovely. I have to give a HUGE shoutout to Jose at the Cenote Bar. We stopped there every night for a glass of wine, and sometimes french fries, lol. He was such a nice guy, always smiling and happy to see us. (So were the racoons when we got fries, lol!) The trolly drives always went out of their way when the could. Sometimes when people had been waiting too long, they would take them where they needed to go, even if they had to go out of their way. They really cared about the guests. We were there for our anniversary and there was a banner on our door and a bottle of champagne in our room. A lovely touch. It was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. Generally appalling and indifferent service, food that was usually substandard and rooms that are definitely not luxury (eg blood on mattress protector). Worst of all was the lack of assistance with the substantial problems i have had, even going so far as to say I would have to pay a penalty if I transferred to another resort.
