The Good: The beach is great and so are the pools. It looks like the resort has been recently renovated, everything is well-maintained and the rooms are clean and spacious. We got upgraded to the Club side of the resort and the small lounge/cafe in the center of the residence buildings was a game changer for rainy day activities, morning coffee, and off-hour snacks. On the whole the staff is very friendly and attentive. You also have access to two adjacent resorts so you can explore and pick and choose activities with ease. Staff Honorable Mentions: Juan the butler is top notch. He's friendly and easy to talk to and goes out of his way to make sure everyone is taken care of. He responds quickly and takes pride in his work. Miguel who runs the Le Gourmet French restaurant could probably manage his own resort. This guy is on it and is always friendly and engaging with both the patrons and his staff. He and his staff make Le Gourmet the best restaurant on the premises. Omar the waiter at La Hispaniola is a really good dude, very engaging and funny and he's probably the hardest worker in the room. Find him and keep going back to his section (easy to spot because he's built like an NFL cornerback). Transport Honorable Mention: Salvador at Amstar is easy going but attentive and quick to respond. He can work deals for you on excursions. Another good dude. The Not So Good: The buffet is pretty bad here which really shocked us. We stayed at Ocean Blue and Sand last year, presumably a lower tier resort than Majestic Colonial, and their buffet was awesome. The setting at this buffet is sort of utilitarian, the food is generally bland, the chefs working the made-to-order stations look like it's the last thing they want to be doing, and the wait staff is disorganized and sometimes nonexistent. If you have to eat here it'll fill you up, but you probably won't be happy about it. And I recommend going to the bar and bringing your own drinks in before you get seated. If not it's likely you'll order something (if anyone comes to your table), they'll forget for 15 minutes, and when you get someone's attention they'll laugh and dance and maybe sing but that's probably not what you're looking for. Do yourself a favor and go to Le Gourmet or La Hispaniola.

It is an older resort could use some updating, but if that does not bother you, it has excellent food and friendly staff. Great price for what we got. I like there are many restaurants to choose from. The Japanese restaurant with the hibachi tables was entertaining.

Majestic colonial
Loved the guest activities and the hosts. They were very helpful and engaging. Pools are beautiful and the beach was pristine. Lobby dancing, magic shows, pool volley, and live music even at the buffet. Victoria, Bertha, and Marlin were absolutely amazing and had the best energy. Great way to spend the holiday this year. Must come back!

Funjestic Shows
Excellent amazing shows Bertha speaks amazing English and teaches amazing dances you need to go to the shows at 9pm every night. The staff helps with everything dancing and including everyone that’s not even apart of the show. Please be sure to and say hello.
