  Magnificent Holiday

  Begin forwarded message: This is an In depth review of Majestic Elegance in the Dominican Republic. 🇩🇴 We came as a Family of three and didn’t know what to expect because it was our first time visiting this beautiful Island. We didn’t book a transfer to the hotel but it was easy to get a taxi once we landed and he said the price would be $35 US so we gave him $40-he also said he would drive us around all day for $100 if we wanted to later. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted warmly with lemony scented warm face cloths to wash our hands and faces and were given some delicious fruit juice with ice topped with mint leaves which was refreshing. Our check-in was fast and everyone in the Lobby was quick, professional and spoke enough English to converse. We got a room that overlooked the pool on Family side and it was spacious as well as beautiful. My husband and I liked having our own big area with king sized bed and adjacent indoor jacuzzi. Our daughter slept in the other section of the very large suite. The separate toilet room and waterfall shower was amazing and it was nice every day to come back from the pool/beach and get clean for the evening. We all really liked the shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturizer and usually I have so many problems with products especially with the scents but I was able to use all of them and Loved them by the end! There was also a lovely pull out magnifying make up mirror in front of the bathroom mirror. My daughter did not like the placement of the Murphy bed pull-out so she moved the mattress on to the other side of the room on to the floor and when our housekeeper Rosa saw it she immediately had a stand alone cot brought up and put it in the same location that our daughter preferred so she was very happy. I was also pleased with the comfort of the mattress in our room and often have pain in my hips with other hotel mattresses but this one was just right! Not too soft and not too hard. It had a small pillow top. Majestic Elegance also offers a “pillow menu” so my husband ordered an extra large harder pillow and was content. At first we noticed that our air conditioner made a loud banging noise at times. Hubby stopped at lobby and asked to have it fixed but another day went by and nothing happened and it was still quite loud so he went back to reception and made sure he spoke with one of the check in hosts who spoke English and there was a technician in our room fixing the noise before we were able to get back. We had someone in the lobby area make our restaurant reservations for us right away when we checked in, it took 5 minutes so we had 2 at the Japanese “9 doors” and 2 at the “Limited Gourmand” which most people call “The French Restaurant” we stayed for 15 days so it was the perfect rhythm for mixing up the different dining options. We Loved the Food and felt there were always many choices and options in the “Flavours” main buffet. We usually went to the main buffet in the morning and found the servers and hosts very friendly, kind and professional. We usually left a tip of 1-2 American dollars with each meal as we understand that tips can be very helpful for the employees that often work 11 days on and 3 days off. I liked to get an Americano at the coffee cart in the mornings, the barista Rosaira who also works in the Lobby bar was always competent, professional, friendly and happy and helped me brush up on my Spanish. She also remembered my order every day as well as the cappuccino for our teen. My husband loved the coffee served in the main buffet and was much more adventurous with his food choices, he absolutely loved the Dominican peanut butter. We would then load up on sunscreen and find a place at the pool. We were always able to find a nice place to sit and brought tubes which we eventually left at the resort for incoming tourists. We also loved floating in the ocean for hours then coming back to the pool to relax. The ocean is warm, the most beautiful color I have ever seen, and quite safe if you are a good swimmer. No lava rocks or coral to navigate and the most powdery soft sand. We greatly appreciated the service by the pool from the whole team mentioning Victor, Juan, Daniel, Martha, Michael, Laurel, Odeliu but especially our favorite server Salome who has a beautiful caring heart and the best smile. She as well helped me with my Spanish and she gave us excellent attention and Service every day. We ate lunch most of the time at Sea to sea up on the beach. Hubby Loved the BBQ, Lamb and pizzas while I mostly enjoyed papaya, the Mexican bar and different ceviche each day. The selections were always changing and we did not get any intestinal problems from any of the buffets. There was always different ice cream and freshly made crepes with choices outside of sea to sea by the beach. My teen loved the crepes with Nutella while hubby tried every different ice cream. We mostly went to a different restaurant each night but chose to eat a few evenings at the main buffet. You can also go to McJestic/Sports bar for fast food any time or order room service which we loved. Our favorite restaurant was the steakhouse because we always received delicious food and excellent (and fun!) Service from all servers there especially tall Jose (who also served us breakfast, he’s an up and coming star! (Very professional and personable) Carlos (ya baby! Excellente ! ) and Carlos. Big shout out to the famous Reyson whose bartending skills are par excellence! (As well as entertaining) We took a trip to Higuey to see the Basilica and some of the Dominican countryside, it was fascinating and we felt safe under the care of our driver despite the bustling energy and chaotic driving we enjoyed our 4 hour trip. I also went by myself on a snorkeling tour. We booked with Jose from “Go Majestic” which is on site at Elegance who was fantastic. He found a good deal for me and I did enjoy the snorkeling and the boat wasn’t too packed, but remember that there are often long bus rides back and forth and when on the boat I found the music much too loud for my liking- I had earplugs which helped! We actually had a lot of fun at the resort and enjoyed everything they offered like playing ping pong, darts, and daily activities, we love tennis too but never made it to the courts. The stores were nice as well as the Pharmacies. Every night there is entertainment. We would time our dinners so we could head over to the stage area where the seats were comfortable and large. We liked the circus, disco and Michael Jackson the best and appreciated the artists as well as the entire animation team especially Cardi B and a lovely man who brought happiness to us every day named “Capi” which is short for cappuccino which he had tattooed on his arm. Overall we absolutely loved our trip to Majestic Elegance and would definitely go back. We got rested, had fun, felt very nurtured and created some good Family memories. I think as a westerner going to an “upper-middle income developing country” there has to be flexibility on what to expect, and as a tourist recognize you are in a different culture and adapt accordingly. I actually really enjoyed the mostly Spanish speaking element and my daughter and hubby who don’t speak any at all never had a problem communicating their needs and eventually being understood. We all agreed that the Dominican people are generally kind, caring, joyful and relaxed (outside of the resort too) I enjoyed getting better at conversing and at the resort we felt absolutely 💯 safe at all times. Overall we had a magnificent holiday and highly recommend Majestic Elegance for a Family trip. Thank you Dominica and it’s lovely people! You have the most beautiful hearts ♥️ Sent

  Excelente

  We had an amazing time. The staff was incredible, Maxima and team at the Club Pool bar went above and beyond to make sure we always had a drink in hand. The beach was beautiful and never had a problem finding a lounge chair or day bed. The grounds and rooms were immaculate. Our butler Osvaldy was wonderful and was there when we needed him. Would go back in a heartbeat.

  Great value and service

  We have been here 4 times and we all love it. The value for the dollar is great, there are lots of places to swim and the waitstaff takes good care of us. They even remember us from previous visits! A special thanks to the staff at the main pool that keeps us hydrated and happy: Salome, Fennis and Martha C —- you ladies are the best!

  GREAT EXPERIENCE

  First all inclusive resort with my boyfriend and it was absolutely amazing ! All staff was so sweet especially Sofia and her coworker Rosavla in the main lobby bar down the stairs ! The pool was amazing, love the swim up bar and the beach was gorgeous. Food was 10/10 ! Especially the pizza Definitely coming back again love love love. They also had a great package for birthdays my boyfriend loved it

  Amazing!

  We had an amazing time. This resort checked all of our boxes. The food was delic, the beach had plenty of chairs and shade spots and the pool was fun! Will def be going back. Be sure to visit Fenni at the elegance pool bar by the bridge! Best margaritas we have ever had!
