What a wonderful stay!
This is my experience having stayed at the honeymoon beachfront swim-up suite at Dreams Cap Cana (formerly known as Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana Hammock) for 4 days in the month of December 2024. NOTE: They were in the middle of the transition from Margaritaville to Hyatt so keep that in mind (for better or for worse). In fact, this hotel is no longer an adults-only but a family one now. PROS - Customer service is top notch and all employees were always friendly, courteous and ready to help. We felt like leaving tips was deserved and worth doing. - Room was superb! Came with a Cal-king bed, safe, sectional sofa, bathtub, 2 showers, and digital thermostat. Everything we needed was already in the room: coffee maker, iron board, hair dryer, plenty of towels; only things we called the front desk for were hand soaps, toilet paper, and water bottles! We usually don't ask for daily housekeeping so we left the 'do not disturb' button on during our stay. - (Almost) private pool. A little patio outside our room (containing 2 reclining lounge chairs, a couple of tables, and a comfy loveseat) connected our swim-up pool to the main hotel pool. Our side of the pool is all we needed and did not have the need to mingle with the rest of pool goers. Adjacent rooms were empty so that pool area was almost exclusive to us. - Beach view. Honestly, there are rooms closer to the beach from we were (perhaps a better view but the swim-up pool on that side of the hotel is much smaller than ours) but still the view was decent from our point of view (see photo attached). - Plenty of beach cabanas. No need to reserve or anything. A kiosk was nearby to order drinks or food. - Good selection of restaurants. I remember eating italian, asian, caribbean, at a steakhouse, and the buffett in the mornings. Coffee shop and sports bar for a quick bite also available. - Theather/auditorium events were actually good. We caught a Michael Jackson impersonator show on its final day. I'm sure they use it for a comedy show or concert too. CONS I feel like 4 days were more than enough for us; we didn't do any excursions or ventured into the city. I was starting to get tired of just doing nothing (LOL), mosquito bites, headaches/bloated from overeating and overdrinking. So, in no particular order ... - Rocky beach access but you can walk a small distance and get into the water though. - Entertainment at night can be improved. Sports club should be open in the afternoons too. - Not all restaurants are available at night. That could be pre-determined due to the low season so ask ahead. - Game room can add a pool table; ping pong table and a big tv already there. - Local selection of drinks is limited; premium ones come at a price.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS-Bed bugs and food poisoning
Nightmare experience. Bed bug infestation in multiple rooms and no idea how to handle it (they told us they would simply change the sheets). Thought I was coming for Margaritaville, came to a nightmare. All Margaritaville branding has been ripped down and not repaired. Ghost town- they are not taking any new reservations except Margaritaville bookings and most people had the sense to leave. Got food poisoning as a nice parting gift.
