Too bad things had to change
Been coming here for the last 30-40 years. Puerto Vallarta is a special place mostly because the people who live and work here are generous with their kindness. The reason we have been coming with our five children was because it is safe, the people In Vallarta appreciate the tourism, all Around it is of great value. But here at the Marriott things are changing. What has not changed is the service at the pool. Armando. Carlos. Raul. Service at Mango for coffee in the morning. The guys at the front getting a taxi … leaving the resort…. : Gustavo. Ramiro. Ramon. What has changed: the quality of food.the burgers here were amazing. The nachos were amazing. The chicken wings. The salads … The drinks were top notch. But now the nachos are less than mediocre. How can you mess up Nachos? I don’t know but they did. It’s one layer of soggy tortillas and too much cheese and no flavor. The burger (which was for the last 25-30 years to die for) Horrible… not sure it was beef. It is too bad because we loved this place sooooo much. For the quality of food. For the service. For the overall value. Yes it is pricey but we got a lot back…. We ans a family lived it so much that Our first daughter had her wedding … while it was still Marriott.. This place was heaven on earth. But the new ownership is cutting corners and it shows. I have had two instances this time where a staff member was rude. I have never felt this in the last 39+ years. So we will go to another Marriott property. Such a shame.

Lovely resort
A pleasant stay. Room makeup staff were lovely and thorough. Poolside staff also delightful and helpful. Bed was comfortable. We had swapped duck for memory foam pillows easily. We had a leaking shower screen and water would go under the screen glass and fill corridor and bathroom. We brought it multiple times and even stayed in the room to show maintenance. They changed the shower head which wasn’t the problem causing the water to go everywhere. The pool is superb. However, there is an issue with seating space. There is a sign to stipulate you cannot reserve seats and poolside seats. However every morning 7-8am there is a large line of people Waiting for towels and reserving seats - up to 14 on one day and that is one person reserving all of them for that many people. So when you get down at 10/11 there are no chairs left and yet no one in the pool Or sitting on their reserved seats. It starts to fill up after 12. Not entirely sure that’s appropriate and should be enforced either by allowing two reserved seats per person or paying for the opportunity. Made the whole pool visit a chore and the selfishness Of the guests was disappointing.

Very good time for a good vacation
Like the lay out of the resort. Plenty of space. View from the room was very good. The bed was very nice - every night slept comfortably. Staff were very nice and cooperative. The pool (especially location) is very good – next to the beach. But, expect better maintained facility for the price. There were things which were not in good shape for the type of hotel. Also, suggest to have a bar in the middle of the pool - rather than to the side.

Beautiful views
The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is stunning! That was our favorite part. We liked going non-all-inclusive so that we could go checkout plenty of local food! Great spa service too. We also enjoyed the open air bar area. Good proximity to the Marina.

Marina Haven
We spent a week at the Marriott after having such a great experience last year. The staff, facilities, amenities and amazing food and beverage options will keep us coming back every year. The rooms are very comfortable with fantastic views and nice balconies, the pool and beach areas are immaculate and have sun all day, the gym and spa are well equipped and the quality, variety and price of food and beverage options are great. We really enjoyed Mikado restaurant for sushi, teppanyaki and other Japanese and Asian options. The resort is a close ten minute walk to the shops and restaurants at the marina. There were many examples of exceptional service but Carlos at the pool and Lilly, a front desk manager we met at a reception the resort had for elite guests stood out for us on this trip. The resort clearly takes care of its employees many of whom have been there for years. We look forward to returning next January!
