Detailed Review from a first time visitor
Many reviews here are from repeat guests, this was my first time here. Great resort, I will return! I travelled solo and was always treated just like everyone else. I upgraded to Premium (same as diamond club, just rebranded), and for me it was worth it. I understand for some it might not be. I enjoyed the Premium beach area with better beach beds, drinks service, and even food service at lunch (sandwiches). I ate at all three al a cartes, and they were all fantastic! There was an additional lobster dinner for Premium guests, set up on the lawn, under lights, with beautiful Cuban musicians. In addition, I enjoyed the quiet of the a la carte Premium option for Breakfast. A quiet start to the day without buffet noise and line ups (I did the buffet a couple of mornings and it was fine, also). There is also an a la carte Premium lunch option, I did this once. Premium is supposed to give you top shelf liquor but that was never noticeably different from what others were served, but I didn't care for what I was drinking. I did hear others ask, and they did get what they asked for. Other food comments, as it is always one of the biggest questions people have. The only thing that I noticed was short this last week was any sort of deli meats, ham, etc. I thought these were more common for Cuba. There was bacon every day, there were eggs every day, and I believe even butter every day. The food was all delicious. My only comment is about the Lobster, I had it three times over the week and it was way overcooked each time. However, I think that is just different cooking styles, and it was still delicious! I don't believe the resort was at full capacity, but I never asked the numbers. I always love a resort that you don't have to wake up at 5am to put a towel on a chair! Never ever was there any issue getting a beach chair at the pool, or the beach. I had a pool view room (booked a garden view) and rhe room was great. Very clean. I did have one of the older bathrooms with a deep tub that would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues (big step), but there is a counter right there and a bar to grab onto. Wifi works all over the resort, but often cuts out and needs to be signed in again. Be careful if that if you only want to use wifi. I am from Canada and used my roam from home option so was less worried about it. As is mentioned in so many reviews, the staff at this resort is truly lovely. There is a show nightly at 915pm. 24hr bar service. There is a disco (which is open way past my bedtime, lol, so I can't comment on it, but it is available). But the best is the reef out front. Maybe people come to Cuba for the beaches, but many come to this resort for the snorkelling. Sadly, much of the week I spent there the man of wars were in, and the ocean was red flagged, but I did manage to get out a couple of days. A great beach to walk, a great quiet location between Varadero and Havana. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you might love this resort also! Sunwing does an excursion day into Havana (other tour options available also). I mention Havana though, because if you have any interest in doing Havana without the tour guide you can use that tour as a shuttle. I paid $45usd for the ride to Havana and back, with about 5 hours of my own free time. Way cheaper than a taxi. The local Sunwing rep at this resort is awesome, and is super helpful. I hope I have remembered everything I wanted to write. It is 3am, sitting waiting for my next flight. I hope this review covers lots of questions people might have! Try this resort, it's a good one! I will return!

It's Cuba. So there is good and a little bad.
I'll make this short and sweet. First the good. The beach and snorkling were terrific despite the presence of Man o War jellyfish. Always a beach chair available. The accommodations were fine and the grounds were tidy. The staff were very friendly. Now the bad. Really my only complaint is the food at the buffet. Poor selection and repetitive entrees. I know this is the supposed norm when going to a Cuban all inclusive. To tourists going to Jibacoa, just be aware of this issue. I would return to this resort mainly due to the excellent snorkling.
