Food disappointing.
We have gone to this resort for over 30 times in the last 20 years. In the last five years we noticed that the food was getting worse each time we visited. I don’t know if it is because of the situation in Cuba or the efforts of the management to safe money. I suspect the later. The staff is still great, but the food isn’t. We won’t be returning.

The people.
Another memorable stay in our favorite piece of paradise. We just decides one month ago and to our surprise this time was better than the previous. All was sooo goood. We loved the shows at night and the staff all over the stay was outstanding. So amazing the Cuban people. If we had to mention the highlight of the trip, well...no doubts: the people.

THE STAFF is pure Rock and Roll
This was probably our best stay so far in MJ and we had a blast. The best staff in the world by far and it is incredible all they do. The food was great once again and we were so pleased everyday with the offers. We tried Le gourmet once and it yummy. Piano bar is a great spot to chill. Ranchon is good for snacks. The hotel in general is a little paradise. THE STAFF is the STAFF.

World's best staff
Was at Memories Jibicoa week of December 10 to 17. This was our second time to this resort, but last time it was Breezes Jibicoa. The resort is beautiful, and the best part is the staff, they all work so hard to make your stay memorable. Wish I could remember all their names, but Lilly at the beach was great allways asking if she could bring us a drink. Javier at the front entrance allways willing to help if you needed anything. All the waiters and waitresses in the buffet , great job. All the staff at the lobby bar are awesome. A must do is the piano bar when Rodger is playing, so much fun. The food is great, can allways find something to eat. The rooms are clean and lots of hot water. The pool is also kept very clean. Also the Sunwing rep Malaina is great for planning all your excursions. We will deffenetlly be back, the resort is beautiful and people are friendly and best of all is the world's best staff

My Heart Belongs to Jibacoa! A Place To Go Again & Again!
This is my 5th time at this resort & I enjoyed my stay as always! The resort is less than an hour drive from the airport. For those arriving in the evening, there is a snack bar beside the pool that is open after 11 pm or so that serves grilled sandwiches, but it may be a good idea to bring some food just in case. There are 2 à la carte restaurants - La Gourmet that serves surf & turf and Bella Cuchina that serves Italian. The Cuban restaurant, La Ranchon, is closed right now for à la carte but opens for lunch and has the absolutely best fried fish! I had that dish over many days - delicious. Cuba is not known for their food, so be prepared to have repeat dishes at the buffet. That being said, there was a lot of variety including fresh fruit and fresh seafood. The staff at the resort are great and so friendly. They have really become part of my heart & the connections keep getting stronger each time we go. There are guest that have returned more than 40 times (even up to 93 times) because being at this place makes you feel happy. My worries & stress just melt away. The resort is just the right size and everything is within a 3 minute walk (restaurants, entertainment, bars, dive centre, fitness room). The beach is visible right when you walk into the lobby and its length and width are perfect. With the coral reef within 50 metres of the shore, you are sure to see lots of fish. The larger reefs are a little further out, but within an easy swim. The facilities are not pristine, but unpretentious, clean & comfortable. I went scuba diving for the first time in 30 years (not PADI certified) & Lemay, the dive instructor, was awesome. He provided us with a comprehensive lesson and helped me feel calm when practicing the breathing before the swim and during the underwater tour. For only $25 USD and the personal treatment, it was well worth the experience. Although the weather wasn't great, as expected for December, reconnecting with staff & meeting new friends (guests & staff) was great. The winds were high for the first few days we were there, but we were able to get in some snorkeling & scuba diving time on the last several days. There were a lot of Man O' Wars in the ocean, so if you want to go in, cover up exposed body parts with rash-guards or a wet suit and you will be fine but stay diligent & cautious. If you decide to tip, please tip with paper money in good condition (no rips & not warn bills). They cannot use loonies & toonies and will need to exchange them for paper money with visitors, so either give increments of $1 USD or $5 CAD. The situation in Cuba is not great & a struggle for locals. Please keep this in mind & consider bringing some necessities with you to give away (moreso for staff who normally do not receive tips or local vendors you may meet on the beach). Things that are needed: toothpaste, soap, rechargeable/solar lights (flashlight, head lamp, camping lamp), power banks, clothing, food (powdered milk, rice, beans, snack bars, fruit snacks, candies), medicine... A couple locals wanted my stuffed toy as those are rare for children, so bring any neglected stuffies for a new life in Cuba. Memories Jibacoa is my home away from home. If you want to enjoy a relaxing time, swim with the fish and spend time with fantastic people this is the place to be. I hope to be able to return every year because of the joy I feel from being there.
