Highly Recommended
My partner,my mother in law and I stayed at Occidental Xcaret for 6 nights and had an amazing time! We are already making plans to come back! The resort is of a decent size, but not huge - all areas are easily accessible by walking. They do have shuttle service also. My mother in law uses the wheelchair, so it took us time to get around, but we had not missed out on anything. Plenty of fauna all around the resort, we enjoyed watching birds, deer, coati, capibaras. The grounds are well kept and very scenic. The beach area was a highlight for me - the best beach of any resorts that I have stayed at in the area. It is small, and it is an inlet, but the seaweed and everything else floating in the ocean is kept out and the bottom is all sand. The depth is a smooth decline, so it is kid friendly, and safe even for those who do not swim well. I enjoy snorkeling and I was able to do it! They have fish and rocks on the sides, so it is a very low effort fun activity. The resort also has a snorkeling area on the side of the rocks, but it is not as safe and I didn't risk it on my own. My suggestion would be to have a lifeguard on duty there- there is a lifeguard tower, but no one was on duty when I went to check it out. The pools are amazing, well maintained and steps away from most buildings. The rooms are good, even with some wear and tear, everything is clean and functioning. Our room was spacious, shower and bathroom were clean, the balcony was smaller than I am used to in a resort, but not a big issue for me. The staff was amazing all around, helpful, pleasant and responsive. Another huge advantage of the resort is direct Xcaret access - 5 minute walk from the lobby (or you can take a cute little boat). At any other place you will have to gat up early, pack everything you need for the day, get on the bus and get hauled to the main entrance with the crowds. Here you take a stroll to Xcaret and if you need to go back to the resort, you can do so at your leisure. This is a huge deal for us, we are big fans of Xcaret. Be mindful though, park admission is a separate fee, you can choose one day or an unlimited ticket, and it is somewhat pricey, but definitely worth it. Overall we enjoyed Occidental thoroughly. The one downside for us was the food. Buffets are ok, nothing special, I think they could improve on variety and flavor, some things are bland and it is a bit of a disappointment knowing how vibrant Mexican cuisine is. Specialty restaurant reservations work just like at any other resort. It is a competitive business that involves someone waking up at dawn and walking to the reservation desk hoping to get what they want. I did not have that in me, so we did not get to go the the restaurants we wanted to try. The ones we visited - the Italian and the seafood restaurants - were better than the buffet, but again nothing special. At one point we ordered a steak that tasted just strange and was inedible. The staff was nice and apologetic, and it is all inclusive so, we could just order something else.

Beautil Stay
I have been to a lot of places and been out of the country 7 times and this was one of the best vacations I had!! I was very comfortable, and the property is so big that it is not crowded. The weather in Jan/Feb was absolutely perfect. There was plenty of relax and quiet time and places to get loud.

No is xcaret hotel bad copy
It's a boring hotel with nothing to do!!!! The hotel is old with smog atmósfera, in the morning we need to run to the buffet Tables math dirty with bad odor, if you like to go to a bar for one drink and wait for some attention, slow services in specialties restaurants,, if you drink water is the best option If you like seeing the show it is really bad. Good luck!

Beautiful here!
Overall we had a great stay! The dinners were very good for the most part. The buffet food was lacking of flavor most the time, but you could usually find something. When they did the cook to order pasta it was totally worth it and delicious. The Asian and Steakhouse were our favorites. The breakfast buffets were really good. Only downfall was wait time for eggs/omelets. If you are any kind of unsteady on your feet - i would maybe steer clear of here. There are SO many tripping hazards, uneven walkways and stairs everywhere. Once you learn the easier paths it helps. Three of the four of us fell at different times throughout trips. (Not all due to drinking either 😂) The pools were beautiful and relaxing. Wish there were more swim up bars and that waiters would come around more frequently for drink orders. We all swore it was pretty hard to catch a buzz. But had some good drinks throughout. Once you found which bars were best - we just stuck with those. One thing we wished this place did have - hot tubs! Would've been very nice in the evenings. All in all - we would come back again. We enjoyed our stay and when any errors came up they were usually resolved fairly quickly.

Feedback
Overall the location was great. the grounds were really nice. I cant say enought about all the staff and folks that work there. They are were kind, helpful, professional, and just were amazing. The food was not good at all. the lack of options and verity and quality were really-really disappointing and were are not really folks that are picky or have huge expectations. It just wasnt good and we all good sick from the streak house meal.
