Overall I love this place.
Overall I like the place just to be in the middle of the jungle vibe with nature not to fancy but rustic and I like the is spread out so I can do my morning walks to the beach to see the sun rise 🌄 keep the way it is and I will be back

Best Vacation Ever!
My fiancé wanted to visit Caret parks and we decided to go with Occidental. The attention we received from everyone was amazing. I never felt that welcomed and great in a hotel before. Everyone in the hotel really met my expectations and definitely will stay here in the future. I recommend this hotel to everyone.

Family vacation
Visited with a large group for my dad’s 60th birthday. Was great but food was terrible at most places.

Another amazing vacation at OXD!
This was our 6th trip to OXD and our experience this time was as good if not better than the other times. One point I'll make up front -- the OXD Resort management team and staff seem to take not just maintenance but also improvements seriously, as we saw many employees working constantly to fix/improve things around the resort while we were there. From small projects with landscaping to painting all of the buildings along the canal, it was obvious to us that resort staff take upgrades seriously. Our check-in with Royal Level was seamless as always, despite a small hiccup with the keying system as they were swapping out the door locks on all the rooms. Royal Level staff were as attentive as ever, and we enjoyed spending time with all of them. They went back to the "old" menus so that was a plus, and the staff handled each of our requests effectively and efficiently. We were greeted with champagne, a bottle of red wine, and chocolate strawberries in the room when we arrived, which was a wonderful surprise! Our room was clean and comfortable -- as expected. Cleaning service was good -- only issue was timing, as we tended to be in the room (later in the afternoon) when they came by to clean. Simple solution, we'll just request cleaning service for earlier in the day next time. Food was delicious as always, and we were never left wanting for excellent service with food or drink. Pamela even arranged for a scrumptious chicken mole' dinner on our last night -- it was absolutely divine. We want to thank the staff by-name that made our trip amazing: Daniel, Samuel, Alberto, Elisabeth, and David on the "Day" crew, as well as Pamela, Luis, David, Ambrosio, and Francisco on the "Night crew" at the Royal restaurant; Javier -- our favorite bartender -- and Mireya with pool service, Lesly, Andrea, and the Manager (didn't catch her name...) at the Concierge desk, and of course Apo and Max who now work the buffets. We sincerely appreciate the effort you give to make our vacations so special and we look forward to seeing all of your smiles each time we visit! One special experience we had was the tequila tasting that they arranged at the Royal Level on Wednesday... Sergio Rodriguez, the beverage sales rep w/ HBS Group, did an OUTSTANDING job of informing us on the deeper history and factors involved w tequila production, the "real" way of enjoying high-end tequilas (complete w/ work or grasshopper salts!), and was a super host for the event. Many thanks to the folks at OXD who set that up special for Royal Level guests! For those reading this contemplating their first visit -- I would say to visit with metered expectations, don't buy into the fake marketing pics and videos, go there with an attitude of enjoying your vacation and try to avoid getting stressed out over the small things. Take care of the staff and they'll take care of you -- a little kindness, appreciation, tolerance, and politeness goes a LONG way. Can't wait to return next year...!

Poor service, unfriendly staff and poor food
The location is stunning, but take the hotel out of the jungle, take away the animals and you have a 2/3 star hotel at best. We were a family of 6 in 3 rooms and all of us had issues in our rooms. Curtain tracks falling down, holes in the ceiling which leaked when it rained, broken toilet. The worst issue for us was the elevator broke on our 3rd day and my husband is disabled, we were on the top floor. Nobody seem to care until it had been broken for at least 5 days. Even then they were not willing to do much to help. It never did get fixed before we left 2 weeks later! There are of course lots of animals which is why we chose it and that is amazing. Be prepared however for animal faeces around the resort, in the pool and on your balcony. Food is not the best and mostly cold but the drinks were good.
