Food and service is terrible
Service is terrible. Wait time to check-in is over 2 HOURS. Wait time to get a simple drink at the lobby bar can be a few minutes to unlimted, They won't pay attention to you no matter the tips you give them. Food quality is way below average, the only place worth eating at is their pizza place upstairs that is opened from 6PM till 6AM daily. Everything else is terrible. Will never ever go back there, neither I'd recommend it to a friend.

Terrible
We were at the Occidental Punta Cana November 15th to 22nd, 2024. The first two days everything was great. On day three, the air-conditioning in part of Building 24 broke down and to make things worse the ceiling fan in our room didn't work. The AC still wasn't working by mid afternoon the next day, so we requested a room change, Building 11 room 103 was allocated, we packed up and eventually the porter arrived to help us. We arrived to room 103 and no AC there. Another room was allocated Building 11 room 117 still no AC either. Another room Building 11 room 121 was allocated, success, but the AC was controlled centrally? This room had four USB ports, only one worked. The bedside table plugs only one worked. The toilet ran continuously. The hand-held shower nozzle was broken. The next day the Hotel Hospitality Manager (Juan) called to ask if everything was OK. We met with Juan the following day and given all that was not right we requested a FREE extension to our check out time to 4:00 p.m. We got approved to 3:00 p.m. Then got locked out of our room at noon, and wasted an hour getting back into our room. Then Housekeeping kept checking the room. Aside from these events the grounds were spotless, the pool area was great, the beach area was great, the food was good, the a-la-carts were good, and the pizza on the upper level was fantastic. Overall, the hotel sleeping buildings could use some attention to details. We likely will not be returning to this Hotel in the future.

Great place to stay
Everything was wonderful. Beach was great, food and drinks were awesome. Very comfortable rooms. Most importantly loved our butler Carlos Rosario. He was always on top of everything and made us feel at home. The steakhouse and Mexican were our favorite restaurants.

Dad and Son birthdays, beautiful beach area, good food and live show outstanding staffs.
One thing I liked about this resort was its crew very attentive to details such as clean towels/clean rooms every day, and the excellent services at the royal club kudos to Mr. Hipólito and his team Jenifer, Roysa, Reina, Edwardo olmos. The beach is clean turquoise water and pools are wonderful let’s not forget about the night live entertainment,

Great stay at Occidental Punta Cana
Occidental Punta Cana outperformed our expectations once we upgraded to Royal. The restaurant was phenomenal. The regular buffet was good too. The a la Carte restaurants were decent but the service was very slow. Wasn’t super impressed with the first club breakfast - at Xcaret it was great but here it was very little option. The Royal bar at the beach was lovely and kept the peddlers at bay. The gift shops were crazy gougy on prices (plastic shovel for $20 US is nuts). Glad I brought my out sub umbrellas that clip to the chairs as there are not many shady spots. The entertainment was great each night. Special thanks to the staff at the Royal restaurant Hipolito, Wendy, Victor, Reyna, Jennifer, Edileny, Sandros, Teo and the rest of the crew! Didn’t get all the names. Shout out to Carolin and Juan at OVC who helped us upgrade our membership. See you all very soon!
