Be careful with local tour promoter by the beach very close to the Occidental Tamarindo resort.
Avoid using local tour seller ( Douglas) who was very friendly before he got our money. Once there was a problem with the tours, he was extremely rude and unhelpful. Hotel should ask this tour operator not to operate so close to the hotel and right by the entrance to the beach.

Great vacation with observations
Small clean resort. <20 min walk to Tamirindo. Surfing off the beach but do not expect to swim. Food was well seasoned and a variety was available. The beds are firm, but extra pillows were always available. They use paper cups, so I recommend a reusable cup for day drinks. Iguanas, birds and monkeys are at the resort but they are not bothersome. The resort is 2+ hours from the airport when traffic and slow roadways are considered. Trips to the rainforest are full day excursions.

Vacation 2025
Excellent value for the money, all inclusive. Walking distance to Tamarindo. Beaches are excellent. If you expect to be pampered go to the Marriott which costs 3 times more and is not all inclusive.

Terrible
Would not recommend. Terrible service. Poor accommodations. Bar service was bad. Couldn't get coffee or water most days. Awful all around.

Tamarindo Occidental in January
We had a great time! Would definitely come back or recommend it to others. The food was good as far as all inclusives are concerned. We had a duplex suite, which was excellent!!! The pool area was lots of fun. Lots of loungers. It’s close to Tamarindo (2km), so convenient. It’s not a swimmer’s beach, but we enjoyed watching surfing and long walks. The staff was courteous and hard working, just not enough of them. On few occasions our room was cleaned, but they would take towels and not replace them. The buffet ran out of plates on one occasion. When we left, we said to ourselves, we would come back in a heartbeat. That’s the most important thing!
