Occidental Tamarindo
The rooms / resort needs major renovation. The food was limited. Not a great selection to chose. The snack bar horrible. There's no ATM at this resort. There are racoons roaming at night. Positive, the pool and beach are amazing. I will not recommend

Book elsewhere.
Not a very good stay. Rooms was actually nice but very strange that you had to use your bracelet to unlock the door when you were inside your room. The Valentine Days dinner in the buffet was bonkers. Started at 7 so we went down at 7:30. No host or line to wait for a table so we thought we would come back at 8. We noticed other people standing at tables waiting for the people seated to finish so you could have their table. We actually had to stand beside people eating to get a table. Asked if their was a manger on duty and was told no management after 4 pm Main lobby bar has one bartender average wait time for a drink is 17 minutes. Take a glass from the buffet or you’re drinking from a paper cup in the lobby. Ran out of vodka, white wine and whiskey. Entertainment was alright, they work hard. Japanese restaurant was alright but several menu items already out at 6:00 PM. The Italian restaurant was pretty good and wish we could have eat all our meals there.

Costa Rica and we will definitely be back
Safest place to travel, you can walk into Tamarindo. Lots of stores & restaurant and the beach in Tamarindo is obviously beautiful and it is very safe to walk anywhere in town.

Two week stay at Occidental Tamarindo
This resort had beautiful flora and fauna. The hotel itself could use some upgrades. Staff were friendly but not always available. Not sure if this is the country itself as we have stayed at other Barcelo's and there were more staff available. A little more detail could be paid to the cleanliness of the rooms and outside the outside tables. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and it was great but not sure I would stay so far out of Liberia. We did a few excursions and the drive was always 1.5-2 hrs to get there. All in all, a great trip.
