Beautiful, clean and safe resort!
This is a great resort for a fun and/ or relaxing getaway. It’s immaculate and beautiful. Two huge pools with swim up bars and jacuzzis and a beautiful beach. Note: even though it says to not reserve chairs, everyone does and you have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a beach chair with umbrella. Pool-by 8 ish to get chairs with umbrella. Bring towel clips to help you keep your towels in place when you reserve. I was in building 8 with garden view and I had a slight view of pool. The rooms are huge and very nice! Lots of space with couch, king bed, desk, safe and lots of hangers and towels. The buildings closest to the beach (6 and 10) are privilege. Privilege is paying more for a butler and closer room to beach. He will also make your reservations for dinner. The reservations thing is annoying for non privilege. They need to find a better way to handle this. The Japanese hibachi and steakhouse are the ones that need a reservation. You have to line up at 7am at the buffet place to make those reservations. Don’t even attempt to get there after 8am because if you can even get a reservation it will be at 915pm. The other restaurants do not require reservations but you have to go there and put your name on a list. The front desk needs to do better with explaining the reservations. They did tell us about the 2 that needed the reservation but it was very confusing about if the others had specific time seatings or if you just go when you want. We ate at Japanese and steakhouse with reservations and both were very good. The Mexican-not so much. The buffet breakfast is awesome. Lunch at buffet is good. The resort has a tram that runs all day and night. Excellent if you are going from beach to front lobby. But it’s not a bad walk. Lots of bathrooms close by. Multiple areas have bars as well. Bring a reusable Stanley cup or similar. That was great for me. Gym is just ok. Not much in there. The spa was amazing!!!! Made a reservation for a combo offer of massage, body scrub and facial for $165. It was 70 minutes long. The massage and body scrub were phenomenal. The facial in the combo offer is not a hydro facial like advertised. It was like an express facial at the end. But the whole experience was at the spa was amazing. Mary was a fantastic massage therapist. They do try to sell you products at the end but not annoying. The entertainment team did a great job all day and night keeping the energy going. Some shows were good and some not so good but always entertaining. The app tells you what is happening all day. Tipping: bring $1 and $5. Not required but I think you should always tip even if it’s a dollar. They work hard to make your stay great. Mikes cafe was the best! Get your coffee there and then go to buffet. Overall we had a great time here and would go again. I wouldn’t say it’s a 5 star resort but definitely 4. What would make it a five star would be better food and better ways to reserve chairs and reservations. Cats! There are few adorable friendly cats throughout the resort. Bring treats if you’re a cat person

Beautiful but would not go back
We are Premium members so Privilege Service is supposed to be included but one would never know..money wasted. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, the food is fine and you can always find something to eat somewhere...may not always be hot but neither is the food I serve at home ;). The employees are all very pleasant and work hard. So the nitty gritty...the privilege service was more than lacking...they now only supply the little alcohol bottles on check in in your mini fridge. In our case we had to call to get the fridge stocked, we had to call again to get the robes and slippers, we called again to get the welcome bottle of wine and there were no fruit plates or welcome treats. No pool towels to be found the first day in room or around pools ...we were amongst MANY looking and unsuccessful (we arrived at 3 pm so should not have been an issue) The bad.....I got ill ...maybe heat exhaustion.... resulted in 24 hours of bed and bathroom. The water in our building cut out at 5 am (Building 8) when needed and husband took our garbage can to the fountains and scooped water for the toilet and bottled water to wash faces and brush teeth after being ill. The air conditioning did not go below 26 degrees C. Water went out in other buildings as well and the air conditioning was also an issue in our friends rooms. The unacceptable.....a WATER BOTTLE of cleanser was left in our room which I assumed was water given it was the same as the ones in the fridge and gave to my husband who...taking a closer look at the bottle noted it definitely WAS NOT WATER....definitely a thick yellowy cleanser of some sort. We gave it to our butler whom we saw almost every day and he was amazing! We did get a few bites so bug spray is a good idea . Pools are beautiful, privilege beach bar made great drinks (used privilege alcohol brands whereas the other bars always reach for the cheap stuff). We will not be back. We went to Ocean el Faro the week after this one..totally different experience!

Great hotel... But the best beach bar ever!
I enjoyed the ocean blue. Great food. Great people. But I think the highlight was Carlos Moreta at the Tiki Bar (prestige part of the beach). That guy knows how to mix his stuff. He made the prestige cost worth it. Even the non alcoholic ones were amazing. It was curious that the staff on the other bars had the same tools, but he had some kind of special power to create amazing drinks. By the way, he was the only one with cold beer in the hole place!. Great experience overall. Thank you Carlos!

Amazing experience
Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, great place to eat, very clean and tidy, superb pools with swim up bars, amazing beach with bar, my only concern was for the flamingo and peacock, I really feel they need some friends it is nice to see them but feel they should be with a flock/partner

Poor management / customer service
Currently here... arrived to wait 2 hrs for the 'prestige' service check in. Our group requested doubles in each room. All rooms we were given one king bed. One of the rooms out of the whole group was split to a different building. One room the temperature is at 27° and maintenance still hasn't looked at AC. 1hr 45 mins to get breakfast this morning. Its really tough to complain with such a beautiful place but these are major errors that are just being ignored. Close to 13k for a family of 4 and being dealt like we are in a 2.5* hotel. Hoping things turn around a bit before we leave but this is what we have experienced thusfar
