A lovely hotel and a fantastic island - I would certainly go back!!
Ocean Point Resort and Spar: Location - 5/5, Beach - 5/5, View - 5/5, Staff - 5/5, Bar - 5/5, Restaurant - 5/5, Evening Entertainment - 5/5, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner - 5/5. Antigua: The best Caribbean Island I’ve visited (so far) some marvellous beaches, we hired a car for a couple of days and also had an all day Catamaran snorkelling trip around the island. Only one draw back, there’s a limited number local restaurants to visit (by foot) we tried the following: Mama mia’s, Le Bistro, Cecilia’s, Blue Waters Resort and Canvas! All very good!

Paradise Found
I have been visiting Ocean Point since 2018 and it never disappoints. What makes it special is the genuine attentiveness and friendliness of every member of staff you encounter, front and back of house, who have a commitment to making you feel like part of the family. That is not easy to achieve and it is hard to maintain year after year but it never fails. Although Ocean Point is undergoing some changes under new ownership the commitment to maintaining that distinctive and impressive standard is already obvious. The rooms are well-appointed, all with great views and being a small resort nothing is too far away. Bedding and linen are of a high standard and the housekeeping team are first class. If something isn't quite right or not to your liking just say and you will be looked after. The relatively new cabana rooms are well worth upgrading to especially if you are on a longer visit with theur extra space and luxury. They even come with hammocks although I have never mastered getting in or out of one. Food and drink is provided overlooking the beach. The Black Pearl Bar is a genuine treat with bar tenders who pride themselves on getting to know your regular tipple as soon as they can so the drinks are being poured as soon as they spot you coming. The variety of drinks and cocktails on the all inclusive menu is plentiful although the house spirits could do being reviewed. However, the Italian house red (served chilled) is addictively good. The bar is also the setting for entertainment twice a week. Ocean Point is there to provide a relaxing, peaceful experience so if you're after a hectic nightlife this isn't the place for you. The restaurant, next door to the bar, is impressive. Emma never seems to sleep and she and her team will make sure you are well looked after all day. The all inclusive menu is fine (and is enhanced by daily specials) although that offering is being revised and expanded in the near future. Vic and his team of chefs do an impressive job. In my time at Ocean Point the continual development of the menus has been the most improved part of the overall experience. Throughout your stay the constant unobtrusive presence of staff making sure the grounds are in good order, the gardens well maintained and providing an excellent portering service on arrival and departure can easily be taken for granted. They do a wonderful job. Ocean Point is off the beaten track so it's highly recommended that you book a transfer with your package or if travelling independently ask the wonderful Rossana, the front office supremo, to arrange one in advance. In fact, Rossana can make just about anything happen. She is ably assisted by her wonderful cat Cutie, an unpredictable legend whose customer service skills occasionally let him down. May he never change. The best way to get around from Ocean Point is either to hire a car or use the taxis at the front of the hotel. Fares are set by the government so you can find it out in advance. Otherwise, just find your favourite perch by the pool or beach and just enjoy being in a great place being looked after by wonderful people. I am looking forward to returning yet again for a short trip in May.

Lovely break
We have returned today from our stay of 2 weeks. The staff were all excellent. Spice and Kerry do a great job too many great team members to mention all lead by Emma who works tirelessly. Biggest shout out to Leonie she must work 7am to 11 pm every day. Room was great we had a cabana room. The growth needs cutting back as this blocked a lot of the view. Bathroom too small and metal of taps rails rusty. Loads of hot water. Grounds lovely beach amazing. Food fresh hot but too samey and need fruit and veg. My main concern was trip hazards. We saw people tripping and one lady fell over. Part of the floor broke yesterday. The other thing is the dangerous wooden structures on the beach. Everyone bangs their heads husband cut his head quite badly. All in all a great holiday but upgrading needed.

Beautiful stay but with issues
Stayed for 10nights in this lovely hotel , Checkin was smooth and quick with porter service for luggage. The rooms are decent size with fab views overlooking the gardens, beach and ocean. The rooms are in need of upgrading as very dated especially the bathrooms which are all very very tired. The showers are terrible and dribble out and occasionally stop mid showering, not a pleasant experience. Rooms are very clean and maintained very well by housekeeping . Gardens are lovely, colourful and very well maintained. The hotel has a fantastic restaurant/bar/seating area right on the ocean front which is beautiful to eat / drink and socialise listening to the waves. The beaches are immaculate and plenty beds/parasols and never seem over busy or crowded so plenty of room to chill and relax. The staff, and I mean ALL staff we came across really couldn’t do enough to help you, we’re always polite and friendly. So everything so far is great HOWEVER the main issue with this resort is the meals , if you go all inclusive you basically have a choice of around 14 starters and main courses of mainly deep fried cheap fast food of burgers, chips, hummous etc and then they have the Signature menu of over 30 quality meals but all these have to be paid for which is terrible when you’ve paid a lot of money to eat well and enjoy. After 4 days enough was enough so a meeting was had with the manager and he kindly moved us to a new room where the shower was a vast improvement and he instantly accepted the food situation was not acceptable whatsoever and he allowed us to have the remainder of our holiday with full choice of all the menu with no additional costs. He did say he would be immediately going to make changes but only time will tell, I will look forward to checking future reviews to this had been implemented. The resort could be made so much better with just a very few small changes like cushions on the sunbeds, drink and snack service throughout the day, in 10 days we saw a staff member once asking if anyone would like a drink on the beach!! Better food menu is definitely required as I bet it’s been the same for years and a snack menu throughout the day. A fruit station with quality fruits would be ideal. There is no Caribbean foods served or anything local which is rather disappointing so maybe do some authentic Caribbean food. Maybe offer (for additional fee) table for dinner on the beach or island (pier) going out to the ocean for that romantic night. The resort just needs a few added touches to make the experience a little more of a quality stay. I do like the idea of the coffee / water stations which reduces plastic bottles etc . So would I return?? Absolutely IF they make the changes…. Let’s watch this space .

Never disappoints ........
We've just returned from our yearly two week stay at Ocean Point and as always we were not disappointed. Its small and easy to get around for those like us with reduced mobility. The garden view rooms are on the ground floor and there is no lift so best to get one of those if you cannot do stairs. There are small steps up and down the corridor so beware of those. The room was lovely - sure you can always find fault in anything but it has everything you need - a fridge, mugs, a safe, hairdryer and is spotlessly clean - fresh towels every day and sheets changed several times in our stay. There is no kettle so if you want to have tea/coffee in the room without the bother of going to fetch it then you need to take your own. There is a coffee machine and water station in reception - we take our own water bottles to refill as this is much easier The pool area is well tended and plenty of beds. Its nice for morning length swimming The bar is lovely, overlooking the ocean and they make wicked cocktails and have a good supply of various drinks - alcoholic and non alcoholic. They also do a bar menu for various snacks lunch time and early evening. There is only entertainment 2 nights a week so if thats what you are after dont go there - we love the tranquility and prefer listening to the ocean rather than drunk people howling into a karaoke machine. The two local bands that play are very good. The restaurant is superb, with table service and a really good choice of quality food - and beautifully presented. There is extra choice that are not included in the all inclusive package but we had enough choice without this. The staff are excellent, especially Elroy, Didi and Kerry Ann who all go above and beyond to provide an excellent service. When it rains water pours through the roof - hopefully the new owners will be fixing that! We would recommend the all inclusive package - it could get very expensive if you were paying for every meal/drink. There isnt really anywhere nearby to eat without getting a taxi. The beach is just idyllic - just like a postcard! The sea is so warm. I would recommend taking sea shoes as its a bit pebbly in places getting in and there are some underwater rocks to trip on. There are more than enough beds and umbrellas you never have to rush out and put towels on them! My only criticism is the service on the beach is no longer what it was, the lunch time staff are not keen on serving the beach so you might see them just once a day - but its no big deal as its not far to get drinks/food yourself. They were changing management whilst we were there so hopefully the new owners will not change too much as it really works and many people return year after year as its so small and friendly. We will certainly be back
